My Paypal got Hacked on Jan 5th.. But I actually made money from the hacker.  Here's what happened...

I logged into my PayPal account that morning and noticed $1,000 in Solana token sitting there which I never bought. 

The purchase happened 2 hours before I woke up. Thankfully, no money left my account.  But there was an attempted $100 transaction that failed due to secruity.  *Phew*

When I checked my profile settings, there was a new primary email there... 

The hacker had added their email as the primary so the receipt went to them, not me. 

They made a mistake and didn't delete my email or I might not have gotten back in.

I quickly changed the password. Kicked them out. Reset everything.

Then I stared at the $1,000 in Solana token that I don't care to own. 

Here’s the weird part: Paypal doesn't let you transfer tokens like that out of your account, you can only hold it.  So no clue why they bought it. 

I ALMOST hit sell to break even. But I didn’t not yet. 

The next day, Solana went up and since then it's UP 6% or $60.  

I wonder if I'm the only person who’s ever been hacked and came out ahead. 

BTW... this was the one account  (my personal paypal) where I somehhow didn’t have 2FA turned on. 

Lesson learned.  (Get your 2FA peeps)

Soon I’ll sell it but wanted to let this story play out and see where it goes for the LOLZ.

P.S.  Another security trick I failed to do on this account which I do on others and highly recommend to reduce the chance of a devastating hack is this...

1. Get a free email at Protonmail (very secure email). 

2. Don't use your name, use initials or code. 

3.  Change all your critical financial accounts to use this email, not your gmail etc.

4. Never subscribe to a newsletter or use for anything else. 

This way if someone hacks your gmail because you use it all the time, they can't just reset your financial and other critical accounts. 

Also... enable that 2 Factor Authentication on all critical systems. 

Them hackers are sophisticated.  If you've been hacked you know. 

And if you run a bidnizz, it's even more critical. 

(I have use my buddy Adil Adam Harchaoui company NVIT Solutions to handle our cyber security and they've prevented a ton of stuff. Affordable and Effective.  Hit him up or ask me for a referral if you want more info on that.)

Now to go back to watching SOL like a hawk.

And yes... I emailed the hacker thanking him for making me money.   

Hasn't replied yet though.
