Woke up today to a thread where people inadvertantly discovered how to pollute AI data with nonsense they made up.

What a great start to the week. Really made me feel good about things.

Its really difficult to not conclude that the "professional networking site" is in favor of the subject matter described here

Today, a man commented, “I’d human traffic you” on a post I wrote about AI-generated violence against women.

On LinkedIn. Under his real name. On a “professional” platform.

I reported it. LinkedIn reviewed it and decided the comment does not violate their Professional Community Policies.

A direct statement invoking human trafficking, aimed at a woman who dared to speak about violence, is considered acceptable discourse. Not a misunderstanding. Not a gray area. Acceptable.

This is how violence survives.

We’re told to block. To mute. To “not feed the trolls.” To absorb it quietly and keep posting like nothing happened. As if the problem is our sensitivity, not the threat itself.

But when a platform decides that a trafficking threat doesn’t cross the line, the line isn’t blurry...it’s been dragged so far back it’s functionally gone.

I blocked the commenter. What I can’t block is a system that keeps asking women to pay this price for having a voice.

This is why I refuse to call what we’re living through “innovation” when it so often reproduces the same old hierarchies: men protected, women exposed, harm minimized, paperwork complete.

This is how institutions record their values: not in policy, but in whom they let threaten women without consequence.

According to several upset people, I have a crude sense of humor

I studied for years to learn how to distill crude humor into several different grades of refined humor via the love of applied chemistry and physics combined with the power of industry

My mum taught me something valuable when I was very little.

She told us that we were a very wasteful species. We cannot be bothered to repair things that are broken, and we just throw things away recklessly.

This stuck with me for a long time. Its been one of the things that motivates me to fix things, the spark of my drive as it were.

What does this have to do with jewelry?

Well, I found a random earring in my room one day, way back in the corner of my closet. Its not one of mine, I'm extremely particular about what I wear.

I asked around my home. No one could explain it, so I kept it in a box and forgot about it.

Today I dropped that box and remembered it when it fell out.

So I fixed this lost earring by reusing it to be the charm of my latest work.

Resourcefulness is a necessary aspect of creative thought.

Without the ability to abstract, we ignore possibilities within our grasp. Concrete structures limit our outcomes to only what we have experienced or been told.

There is no reason to think outside of a box if the box does not exist to imprison your thoughts.
