Let’s be honest: most B2B content is boring AF. 

It’s often general statements and regurgitated info and basic definitions, wrapped in faux authoritative lingo.

Content marketing: where you have either 2 or 20 hours of work in a day, depending on if your boss opened the Google Doc or that partner approved the proposal or the demand gen team greenlit the campaign brief.

GenAI like "okay, I will use a human voice to write like a human. Excellent idea."

I've never built a sales team.
I've never presented to the board.
I've never trained custom AI models.
I've never set up a paid ad campaign.
I've never created a skills training program.
I've never improved PLG using product analytics.
I've never designed commercial properties with BIM.
I've never set up the infrastructure for omnichannel marketing.

And yet the Beam Team has written, authoritatively and extensively, on all of these topics this past year. 

How?

We spent quality time with subject-matter experts—you know, the folks who HAVE done those things. The people who know their shit.

Sometimes it was the leadership team.

Sometimes it was the technical IC.

Sometimes it was the customer.

Sometimes it was the partner.

Sometimes it was the community.

As content marketers, we can: 

(a) spin our wheels and pretend we know what we're talking about,
(b) ask AI to spin its wheels and pretend it knows what it's talking about, or 
(c) take time to talk to people who actually know what they're talking about.

It's the difference between "this content is bullshit" and "this content is the shit."

As community-led, creator-led, product-led, and AI-led growth all converge in 2026—taking time with the experts is going to be a big differentiator.

After talking to hundreds of GTM pros, I’ve realized there are three types of people in any organization:

1. People who 
send slack 
Messages like This,

2. People who send Slack messages like this, and 

3. People who say "We use Microsoft Teams (sorry, I know)"

I thought this was an interesting blip on the media landscape: 

CBS News garnered 50k views in under 24 hours on this full Mamdani speech on TikTok. Comparitively, they see less than 500k in-demo weekly viewers. 

(It’s a stretch to say all 50k viewers are in-demo, but given the targeting power of social, not a big one.) 

Everyone’s talking about AI, but I think one of the most fascinating things to watch is the slow change of old media, from NYT’s digital push to Getty’s licensing deals. 

Since I should probably tie this back to B2B, all this shows me is that what people have been saying is true: it’s time to partner with creators, it’s time to give prospects specifics instead of platitudes, it’s time work with customers on more “how” content, because the generalities from the talking heads won’t cut it anymore. 

(And it’s time to turn the volume up. :)

These are two stories I've started, because not everything is about SaaS marketing. I've joined a few subreddits and a local writing group here in Antigua this year. But I also have 40,000 connections here on LinkedIn, so why not.

I got into marketing because I liked writing. Now it's time to get back to that, at least sometimes.

So every Thursday (er, most Thursdays) I'll post some of my fiction.

•	Grew Constructor’s team from 1 to 5 marketing specialists within a year.

A brand paid me$12,000 to create a content strategy that brought alignment to all of their marketing channels. 

I'm going to tell you how to do it for free.

📖 Backstory:

This brand had a direct response copywriter, social media manager, podcast team, and a brand strategist. 

The brand strategist had done a wonderful job interviewing real customers, and even going to their offices to see how they used their products first-hand. 

She also attended events to get even more insights on how their audience was shifting.

The direct response copywriter was doing great work, too, but was largely receiving her instructions from the sales and CS teams.

The podcast/ social media teams had also collected tons of insights. They'd interviewed customers on the podcast and kept an updated social listening doc. 

But all of these channels were completely siloed. 

They didn't share those insights with each other. 

No shared goals. No shared calendar... it was a mess. 

They needed a content strategy, but they needed systems, too.

🔍  The analysis:

When I first started working with the brand, I set out to see exactly how each of those members worked as an individual. 

I needed to see their own systems, workload, and calendars. 

That's where I discovered:

👉 No central editorial calendar
👉 The wealth of research each of them had collected
👉 The lack of metrics for each member
👉 The discordant communication/ lack of order taking system

This didn't just provide me with about 2 years of content ideas, but it also uncovered the simple switches we could make to get more alignment AND reduce the workload for everyone.

🗺️ An omnichannel content strategy:

All of their research came in extremely handy here.

In most cases, I spend 2 weeks to 1 month conducting audience/keyword research. They'd already done some incredible lifting here. They just weren't using it (which totally blew my mind).

I dumped all of their research into one spreadsheet one folder that all of them had access to in their Drive. 

From there, I was able to run through my regular content strategy process:

1. Research
2. Audits
3. Goals/ KPIs
4. Content ideation
5. Big 3 ideas/ leading milestones
6. Content calendar for all channels
7. Content briefs
8. Distribution/repurposing outlined

Because I make omnichannel strategies with a north star message, each team was suddenly able to recycle/ repurpose material from each other.

We worked on their content engine, starting with the podcast.

The podcast would filter to the blog/ email/ social/ newsletter.

All at once, they could each cut their workload down by hours each week because they didn't have to create new material all on their own.

From failing to rank on the first page of a Google search to ranking 3rd overnight... (Yes, this still matters in the age of AI)

How?

When the brand approached me, they'd been producing as much content as they could with their small team.

Their competition was putting out half as much content, but was still outranking them. 

What the heck was going on??!!

I ran an audit and recognized that none of the pages across their website had metadata of any kind. No interlinks. A lack of optimization across their content.

It was fixed in one weekend, and suddenly, they were outranking their competition for their focus keyword. 

Since then, they have earned several more funding rounds and become an authoritative voice in their space. (They also have some of the best social content I've ever seen)

That's not to say all of that growth came out of optimizing their website. 

That would be demeaning to all the hard work their team has put into growing the brand.

But that rookie mistake with their SEO was holding their site back, and had potential implications on their future growth. 

SOOOO many marketers have latched onto this belief that SEO/blogging doesn't matter anymore because of LLMs. 

The reality shows differently. 

SEO and your company blog still matter. 

It's different. Yes. But far from being irrelevant.

Traffic to your blog took a nosedive? Here are 10 things that might help:




1. Delete irrelevant, outdated, unfocused content that isn't doing anything for you. 

In fact, some of that content might be harming your site.

2. Narrow down the focus of your blog to just 1-3 topics. Yeah, it seems counterintuitive, especially when so many of us spent many years of our careers being told to spread far and wide.

No. You want narrow, but deep.

3. Write with perspective.

That means personal stories, written in first person, with a conversational tone.

Lived experiences. Behind-the-scenes peeks. Demonstrated expertise.

4. Collect and share as much data as you can. 

Original research is still an amazing source of traffic, backlinks, and authority.

5. Add key takeaways to the beginning of each article.

6. Add FAQs where relevant, especially if you're answering high-intent questions.

7. Write more bottom-of-the-funnel content, like comparison pieces, reviews, case studies, and deeply informational pieces. 

8. Answer more audience questions.

I mean, figure out which questions your customers are asking across sales AND customer success calls, and write content that answers those questions.

(Bonus: you can use that content for sales enablement/ retention, and just generally making your teams' lives easier)

9. Update older content.

I can't overstate this enough. Simply updating your older content is such a huge, easy win. It's actually wild more companies don't do this. 

10. Interlink your articles every 3 months. 

A lot of older content misses out on relevant links because companies never go back to update their links. 

Serious miss.



Yeah, organic traffic isn't what it was. 

Blogging isn't what it was.

But that doesn't mean you should neglect it.

It's harder. It requires soooo much more expertise. It requires real strategy. Real insights from real people. Distribution. Repurposing. 

But if you do it right, you actually get conversions. 

F*** the traffic if you're still getting conversions. You might even get more conversions.
