At the time, everything had kind of fallen apart.

I’d just quit my job, come out of a long-term relationship, stopped playing rugby after 16 years, and had recently lost my mum.

Safe to say, I was pretty lost. 

I had literally no idea what I wanted to do with my life. 

Didn’t think I had many skills. Didn’t try in school. Didn’t go to uni. No real career plan or clear direction.

But a couple of weeks earlier, I stumbled across a video of someone (a blogger or someone like that) travelling the world and working from their laptop.

At the time, that felt like a genuinely impossible concept. But it also looked cool as fuck. 

“You can make money and work from anywhere in the world? Wtf??” I asked.

So I thought I’d give it a go.

I took what little money I had left from my last payslips, got in my banged-up Renault Clio, and started driving around Europe trying to make this “digital nomad” thing work.

I tried all sorts of online businesses and remote jobs. Most of them failed miserably.

But writing was sort of the one common thread, and the thing I kept coming back to.

Then covid hit, and I got stuck in Poland for a couple of months. For me, that lockdown was a period where I could just be completely alone and sharpen my skills. 

When lockdown lifted, I made my way to Spain.

I learned the language, met my now partner, and ended up staying here far longer than I ever planned.

All in all, I messed up more times than I’d like to admit.

I constantly questioned whether I’d made my life better or worse. For a long time, I genuinely wasn’t sure.

I’m still not perfect now.

But I’m much happier than I was back then, that's for sure.

6 years from this photo, I work remotely, writing for people I’d have never imagined even speaking to at that point in my life.

I’m not trying to brag or be cringe here.

But if you’re in a similar place right now, and there’s something that excites you but also scares the life out of you (even if it feels like a completely foreign concept), just give it a go this year.

I wasn’t sure I’d made the right decision for a good few years.

Looking back now, I’m so glad I did.

I lost more clients than I closed last year.


And it was the best business decision I ever made.


Because really? I was just scared.
Scared of saying no. 
Scared of losing revenue. 

So I kept saying yes.

To projects that drained me.
To clients who didn't value my expertise.

And sure, the money came in.

But so did the resentment. 

The nagging feeling that I was building a business I didn't even want to run.

Last year,

I started asking different questions on discovery calls.

I used to think business growth meant adding more.
More clients. More projects. More revenue. More everything.

But growth isn't always an addition.
Sometimes it's subtraction.

The phase where you’re invisible.
Where no one is cheering.
Where you’re building in doubt.

That’s where businesses are actually made.

If you’re starting from zero right now—
no background, no support, no clarity—

you’re not behind.

You’re building the strongest foundation possible.

Slow progress is still progress.

No one gives a shit about the number of followers you have.

Here's what nobody talks about:

Followers don't pay your bills. Clients do.

And clients don't come from having a massive audience. 

They come from having a CLEAR message.

Or 2,000 people who see your post and think "holy shit, that's exactly what I need right now"?

I'll take the 2,000 every single time.

Because those 2,000 people actually convert.

Not because they posted fifteen times a day.
Not because they cracked some secret algorithm code.

this year, i want to travel.

not a lot.
not to collect photos.

just two trips.

for years, travel lived in the “later” box.
after work feels stable.

but later kept moving.
and somewhere along the way, i forgot to live a little.

i forgot what it feels like to wake up in a place i don’t know.
to walk without checking the time.
to look around and realize the world is much bigger than my worries.

this isn’t about running away.
it’s not about escaping my life.

it’s about remembering i have one.

two trips where i don’t count my value by how much i produce.
two trips where i’m not trying to be impressive.
two trips where i let myself just exist.

and for the first time… i’m saying it out loud.

because when i say things out loud, they stop being quiet wishes and start becoming promises i respect.

i’m learning that rest doesn’t have to be earned through burnt out.
that i don’t need permission to want more.
that even small promises to myself deserve to be kept.

Founders rarely talk about this part.



The part where you’ve done everything right on paper - the product works, the roadmap makes sense, the effort is real - and yet, it still feels like you’re carrying the entire story alone.

Most founder struggles aren’t technical.
They’re invisible.

Invisible thinking.
Invisible trade-offs.
Invisible decisions that never make it into pitch decks or product updates.

And that’s where personal branding quietly matters.

Not as marketing.
Not as self-promotion.

But as relief.

When a founder starts sharing how they think -
why they chose one path over another,
what didn’t work,
what surprised them,
they stop carrying the weight alone.

The market begins to understand them before they explain.
Users feel familiarity before they onboard.
Conversations skip the surface level.

Founders who stay silent often rely on:
ads, long explanations, and constant proof.

Most founders already have everything they need to build a strong personal brand.

The clarity exists.
The experience exists.
The lessons exist.

Just the question is, are you ready to get things started?

And honestly? I don't blame them.

Because most personal branding advice is complete garbage.

And after 3 months of grinding, you had maybe 200 new followers and exactly zero clients.

So you thought: "This doesn't work for me. Personal branding is bullshit."


Here's what actually happens when you don't have a real strategy:

- You attract the wrong people. People who love your content but will never buy from you. People who engage but aren't your ideal clients. People who drain your energy asking questions they could Google.

- You say yes to everything. Because you're desperate for traction, you take any call. You help anyone who asks. You give away your expertise for free hoping it'll lead somewhere. It doesn't.

- Your content isn't connected to your offer. Your message is too broad. You're trying to help everyone so you end up helping no one. You have no conversion system. You're waiting for people to magically figure out what you do and reach out.

Here's what actually works:

1. Start with the end in mind. 

What do you want people to DO after seeing your content? Book a call? Download something? DM you? If you don't know, neither will they.

2. Speak to ONE person. 

Not everyone. Not "anyone who wants to grow their business." One specific person with one specific problem that you solve better than anyone else.

3. Make your offer visible. 

Not pushy. Not salesy. Just clear. If someone lands on your profile right now, can they figure out in 10 seconds how to hire you? If not, you're losing money every single day.

The question is: "Am I building a brand that's designed to generate revenue, or am I just creating content that makes me feel busy?"

Because one leads to clients.

The other leads to burnout.

Which one are you building?

I’ve seen more businesses fail than succeed.



And no, it’s not because they don’t work hard.

Most of them work too hard.

They wake up early.
They sleep late.
They sacrifice weekends, health, relationships.

They’re exhausted.
They’re sincere.
They’re trying.

But hard work isn’t the problem.

The real reason most businesses fail?

They’re building noise, not clarity.

They sell without positioning.
They post without a message.
They hustle without direction.
They copy what others are doing and hope something sticks.

No clear audience.
No clear offer.
No clear reason why someone should choose them.

Hard work without clarity doesn’t create success.
It creates burnout.

The businesses that survive don’t do more.
They do less, but better.

They know who they’re for.
They know what problem they solve.
And they say the same thing again and again - clearly.

That’s it.

your calls will feel heavy.

If your content filters clearly,
your calls feel like confirmations.

Closing doesn’t happen on the call.
It happens before the call—
in how you show up publicly, consistently, honestly.

People don’t say yes when they’re convinced.
They say yes when they feel safe.

Safe in your clarity.
Safe in your boundaries.
Safe in your confidence.

If leads aren’t closing,
don’t tweak your pitch yet.

Check your presence.

Are you being clear…
or are you trying to be chosen?

That difference changes everything.

Yes or no?

I was invisible last year.

Not just on social media.
But in life.

I slowly disappeared from conversations.
From posting.
From replying.
From people who were used to seeing me show up.


But quietly. Slowly.

I kept functioning on the outside.

But inside, everything felt unstable.

Some days I was okay.
Some days I couldn’t breathe properly.
Some nights my mind wouldn’t stop replaying conversations, memories, what-ifs.

So I went quiet.

Because talking felt exhausting.
Because pretending felt heavier than silence.
Because healing isn’t something you can rush just to look “normal” again.

A few people noticed.

They just checked in.

“hey, just wanted to see if you’re alright.”
“thinking of you.”

I’m still healing.

Still finding my way back - slowly, honestly.

You’re not weak for disappearing.
You’re not broken for needing time.
And you don’t owe anyone your healing timeline.

Everyone is a “Founder” these days.


Somewhere along the way,
founder stopped meaning builder and started meaning everything that it's not 

A website went live → founder.
A domain was bought → founder.
An Instagram page with 3 posts → founder.

But business doesn’t work like that.
It never did.

It’s:
• solving a problem people actually pay for
• hearing “no” more times than “interested”
• chasing invoices instead of likes
• fixing things that break at 2 AM
• showing up even when the excitement dies

Most days, it’s not glamorous.

It’s quiet.
Messy.
Uncertain.

Real businesses are built in silence, not captions.

No one sees:
- the months of zero revenue
- the self-doubt after every failed launch
- the awkward sales calls
- the pricing mistakes
- the days you wonder if you’re just fooling yourself

And that’s okay.

What’s not okay is skipping the work and wearing the badge.

Founder isn’t who you say you are.

And honestly?
There’s nothing wrong with saying:

“I’m building.”
“I’m learning.”
“I’m figuring it out.”

That’s more respectable than pretending you’ve already arrived.

Titles don’t build businesses.
People do.

You get inquiries.
Just not from people who respect your price.

They ask for discounts before understanding the work.
They compare you to cheaper options.
They want “something similar” for less.

And it makes you question yourself.

Here’s the uncomfortable truth I learned:

It’s rarely a pricing problem.
It’s an audience problem.

Your content is doing its job - just for the wrong people.

When your messaging focuses on:
- tips
- hacks
- “anyone can do this” energy

you attract people looking for shortcuts.

But when you speak about:
- standards
- trade-offs
- boundaries
- how you actually work

something changes.

The wrong people stop reaching out.
The right ones don’t ask for discounts, they ask about availability.

Respect doesn’t start in the proposal.
It starts in the positioning.

If your audience doesn’t understand the cost, they won’t respect the value.

So don’t lower your price to fit them.
Raise your clarity so they disqualify themselves.

Right clients only.
Always.

If this hit a nerve,
your content is trying to tell you something.

i go to movies alone.
i book a table for one at restaurants.
i take long walks without music sometimes.
i sit in cafés without pretending to be busy on my phone.
i celebrate small wins quietly, with no one clapping.
i hold my own hand on days when it gets heavy.


and honestly?
i am not shy.
i am not lonely.
i am not “sad inside” like people assume.
i enjoy my own company.

not because i never wanted anyone -
but because life slowly, painfully taught me something i didn’t learn from books or people.

people leave.

sometimes without explanations.
sometimes after promising they wouldn’t.
sometimes when you need them the most.

and when they do,
you are still here.
breathing.
waking up.
carrying everything alone.

so i learned to sit with myself.
to listen to my own thoughts without running away.
to not abandon myself just because someone else did.

choosing myself wasn’t a sudden decision.

it came from nights where no one checked in.
from days where i cried silently and still had to function.

from moments where i realized -

if i don’t show up for me, no one else will.

i don’t wait for company to live my life anymore.
i don’t pause my happiness until someone says i'm doing good
i don’t shrink just to be chosen.

i choose myself.
even on days it hurts
especially on days it hurts.

and if that makes me different -
i’m okay with that.
