Exit-Stau im deutschen Mid-Market: Wenn #PrivateEquity auf die Bremse tritt
Der deutsche Private-Equity-Markt steht unter Druck. Mehr als 400 Portfoliounternehmen gelten inzwischen als „overdue“, was als ein deutliches Zeichen für den zunehmenden Exit-Stau im Mid-Market gewertet werden kann. Die durchschnittliche Haltedauer liegt inzwischen bei über sieben Jahren: Tendenz steigend!

Was steckt dahinter? Dr. Stephane Müller und Thomas Nacken von Grant Thornton sehen mehrere Treiber:
1. Bewertungsdifferenzen: Verkäufer orientieren sich weiterhin an den hohen Multiples der Niedrigzinsjahre, Käufer kalkulieren dagegen inzwischen deutlich konservativer. 
2. Finanzierungsrestriktionen: Höhere Zinsen, strengere Covenants und zurückhaltende Banken bremsen Transaktionen. 
3. Makroökonomische Unsicherheiten: Schwache Konjunktur, volatile Kosten und steigende Insolvenzen hemmen die Kaufbereitschaft. 
4. Strategisches Zögern: Fonds vermeiden #Exits unter Buchwert, verständlich, aber wertverzögernd. 
5. Mangel an Alternativen: GP-led Secondaries oder Continuation Funds sind im Mid-Market noch die Ausnahme.

Doch statt auf bessere Zeiten zu warten, braucht es jetzt aktives Handeln. Exit-Readiness wird zum strategischen Erfolgsfaktor.

Klare Equity Story, belastbares Reporting, operative Effizienz und Wachstumsperspektive sind die Hebel, um Käufer zu überzeugen und den Exit-Stau aufzulösen.

Mein Fazit: Der Markt belohnt heute nicht den, der am längsten wartet, sondern den, der frühzeitig vorbereitet ist.
