UNILAD Adventure is the most engaged travel channel on social media, with a combined following of 6M people and reaching 120M people weekly (data as of Sept, 2018). The channel specialises in creating shareable and relatable travel content that transcends language and cultural barriers.

Due to my hiring 9 months earlier, the Adventure page achieved a more consistent flow of good quality content. I often put new ideas forward on how to grow the Facebook and Instagram channels and produce better content, becoming more and more involved in developing new video concepts and formats across different social media channels.

As a result, I was promoted to a Social Video Manager role, responsible for managing my own team and being more involved in creative projects and branded client work.

• Overseeing a team of three junior video editors and making sure the Facebook and Instagram pages had a consistent stream of quality content on a daily basis.

• Working alongside Head of Adventure developing new concepts and video formats for Facebook, Instagram and Youtube.

• Shooting original content across the world and training the new starters to be familiar with our shooting guidelines and style.

Ironically, I wasn’t always a fan of LinkedIn. The self-promotional and often cringe-worthy content put me off spending much time there... But now, I create LinkedIn content for a living. 😆 What changed?

In 2023, I noticed the poor quality of content dominating the platform. The feed was full of “experts” and stale company posts.

However, I was drawn to a few founders sharing their valuable insights, opinions and genuine journeys along the way.

This sparked something: every founder & subject matter expert should be building brand awareness for their business through their personal profiles.

After successfully building up a client's founder profile and also my own, I was convinced that this is THE playbook for B2B social content.

So, I launched our Founder-Led LinkedIn content creation service.

Since then, I’ve witnessed the incredible impact that building a personal brand on LinkedIn can have on a business (watch our Case Studies). It’s safe to say I’m a convert..

On Wednesday, I had the pleasure to attend the Estonian Business Hub networking event held at The Ambassador’s Residence in London. 🇪🇪🇬🇧

It was great to chat with people from Estonian companies operating in the UK or looking to expand here.

There were some brilliant companies represented (Helmes, Migrevention, Salv, Bisly, Co-one, Dragonfly & many more). Didn't get the chance to chat with everyone but looking forward to more events like this. And always happy to share my learnings on startup marketing here as well.

For those who don't know much about Estonia yet - let me share some fun facts for you.

(If you have an Estonian friend, you've definitely heard these - as we won't shut up about our country and how we're punching above our weight!! 😇)

So:

• We take pride in how EVERYTHING is digital in our country - voting, taxes, prescriptions etc. We also have an e-residency for entrepreneurs to attract talent. We're very tech-forward in every aspect of the society.
  
• We are super proud about our education system - Estonia ranks as one of the highest in the world, with students topping Europe in maths and science and excelling in creative thinking, problem-solving and innovation. (PISA test)
  
• Estonia has one of the densest startup ecosystems in Europe: about 1000 startups per 1 million inhabitants. 

• Estonia has produced 10 unicorns to date - despite a population of only ~1.3 million.

That works out to roughly 7.7 unicorns per million inhabitants - the highest unicorn-per-capita rate in Europe! 🦄

• Fun fact: Deep-tech startups are on the rise - roughly 10% of all Estonian startups are deep-tech!
  
• We generally don't like small talk. We're just not brought up that way. After 10+ years in the UK I do okay 😆, but it doesn't come natural to us like it does for Brits and Americans. If you get to know us though, we are an open book.
  
• We're obsessed with saunas. It’s a core part of our culture. 🧖🏻‍♀️

I must say the crispy blood sausages got me VERY excited to be back home in Estonia for the festive period in a few weeks! If you haven't been to Tallinn/Tartu - put it on your radar, you won't regret it, I promise. 🙂

Founder-led content for B2B tech startups. Turn your founder and team expertise into LinkedIn content your buyers care about. Trusted by Seedcamp, Creandum and Speedinvest-backed startups.

If you’re an early-stage startup founder trying to book more demos for your >$50k ACV product in 2026 - consider activating your founder(s) on LinkedIn and running Thought Leadership and ‘Book a demo’ ads towards your target accounts.

This is the playbook I’m supporting clients with:

1. Activate the founder(s) on LinkedIn via organic content. Post minimum 3x p/w following three core themes: Industry insights & expertise (~60%), company & product (~20%), personal interests and values (~20%).

2. Run best-performing organic posts on industry insights and product-related posts as thought leader ads towards your target account list.

These work brilliantly for brand visibility (you can guarantee your content is being seen by your target accounts - and you can see which accounts are seeing & engaging your content with Fibbler which then also calculates pipeline influence.).

3. Launch standalone ‘Book a demo’ retargeting ads to the most engaged audiences that are showing higher intent. This gets demos on your sales teams calendar.

So far, I’ve been solely focusing on organic founder content on LinkedIn but it’s become pretty clear to me that adding LinkedIn ads on top of it is a no-brainer. It's proving very effective for ABM (the slack message made my week🙂). Will share more as I keep learning about this!

A few days ago, I was invited to Dragonfly's launch party in London. The room was packed. Sean and Sven are only ~5 months out of stealth - two technical founders who've never been comfortable in the spotlight. But there they were, surrounded by their community showing up for them! 👏🏼

So naturally, I had to pull them aside and ask them how they think about building in public, creating LinkedIn content, and community building as early-stage founders.

For context, Dragonfly is an AI-powered tech companion that helps businesses find the right software for their tech stack in seconds. So far they've helped 400+ businesses, recommended 26k+ tools, and saved 1000s of hours and $$$ for their customers since launch!

Here’s what they told me:

1/ They're intentional about community

Sean mentioned how they looked at really well-established startups over the last few years and saw it was all around community. So they also set out to build their champions and supporters around them and what they do. It takes effort, but it works! 

2/ Get comfortable being uncomfortable 

They talked about how they'd been living completely private lives before Dragonfly. Being open and vulnerable was genuinely uncomfortable at first, BUT once you start and get into the flow of things, it becomes easy pretty quickly.

3/ Take photos of EVERYTHING

You don't know when you're going use them, but they will probably find their way on LinkedIn at some point. Team offsites, conferences, bts etc - they're documenting their actual journey and bringing people along for the ride.

4/ Talk to your customers from DAY 1

Don't wait until you're ready or the product is polished, you need to talk to your customers from day one. You're building a business, not just technology features so you need to be close to your customers, and social media helps with staying connected in that way as well.

 5/ Use AI to speed things up, but keep the human in the loop 

As they create the content themselves, they need to be clever about how they do it. AI helps them be more effective. Sven mentioned how an agentic browser has been one of his favourite tools - it helps capture data and track engagement. They also have an automation in place that feeds them relevant research reports and creates drafts in their tone of voice. Human review (Sven or Sean) is always the final step before publishing. So use AI where it can do the gruntwork (research, structure, first drafts), then make sure it sounds like you and add any missing context or insight.

SO many great tips!!

And one more thing I loved: During their talk, they both actively encouraged people to share about what they're building and follow along on LinkedIn. Sure enough, I've already seen 5-10+ posts about the launch pop up on my feed. And here I am too. It’s a smart way to create buzz and break into new audiences.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that almost every founder I work with doesn’t ACTUALLY want to be creating content on LinkedIn.

It feels uncomfortable. Maybe even cringe. You’re constantly putting yourself out there to be judged. You have to compress your complex vision into a few sentences. And everyone’s watching - your team, customers, investors, the board. 

(The point of this post wasn’t to put you off though so hear me out.. 😂)

Despite all of the above, they still do it - and the reason why is simple.

- Inbound picks up - you’re having warmer conversations. 

- Trust is there from the get go. Prospects are way more receptive about what you have to say. They even turn to you/your company for answers.

- Investors are showing up in your inbox and DMs.

- Talent is reaching out wanting to work with you.

- The upside is obvious once you’re in it.

But not only that - it’s actually interesting how you evolve as a leader by forcing yourself to put your thoughts out there.

“Creating content” kind of undersells that part, as one of the real benefits is how much clearer you get about what you believe and how you lead.

Once your thinking is out in public, you start holding yourself to a higher standard.
