I felt stuck at my social work job for years
I tried everything they tell healthcare workers: self-care, motivation, hustle. 

It didn’t change anything. 

I still couldn’t say no.

Years ago I was standing in a living room while a patient was actively dying.
The medication hadn’t arrived yet.

The family was panicking.

Everyone was looking at me.

As the social worker:

→ I didn’t control the pharmacy
 → I didn’t control delivery timing
 → I didn’t write the policy
 → I couldn’t make the pain stop

But I was the one in the room.

So I simply existed to absorb the fear.

The anger.
The waiting.
The system didn’t. 

That’s when I learned the difference between effort and exposure.

We think stress is an allergic reaction to working hard. 

When really it's a symptom of being responsible

What am I being held accountable for 
that I don’t actually control?

→ Clarify decision rights

If consequences land on you,
authority must move closer to you.

→ Document boundaries early

Ambiguity protects systems.
Not people.

→ Stop internalizing structural failure

Feeling anxious doesn’t mean you’re weak.
It means the design is flawed.

And finally
