Last week pulled me out of autopilot in the best way.

My first time in NYC was...

stimulating. (to say the least 🤣)

Coming back from a week out of office hit me with that classic “I’m behind on everything” feeling, but sharing a few reflections helps me process.


Here’s what I learned:

👉🏻 𝗚𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁
Most of the best conversations in New York happened because I made the first move... ugly, awkward, and all. Going first opens doors that staying quiet never will.


👉🏻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆
NYC plus a conference will cook you if you’re not careful. I found a gym close to the hotel and made sure to get a morning workout in. 

During the conference, I snuck across the street to Target for protein instead of living off fried empanadas.

I also skipped a couple sessions to clear my head and knock out work. Protecting your energy keeps you sharp enough to actually get value from the event.


👉🏻 𝗚𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲
I didn’t try to meet everyone at the conference. That would’ve been ludicrous. I focused on a few real conversations with people I genuinely wanted to learn from. 

And of course...

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my mentor @chris for creating this opportunity.

(I try not to give him too much credit, though 😉)

You always belong in the room...

even when your brain tries to convince you otherwise.

I got reminded of that twice last week.


👉🏻 First: at Jay's amazing mastermind dinner in Columbus.

For a second I felt like the kid who snuck into a black-tie event. This was personally my first time attending a restuarant like this, and it's safe to say I wasn’t used to the vibe.

But not one person treated me like I was out of place.

The conversations were sharp, generous, and honestly changed the texture of my mind a little. Community matters more than we think, and being a part of Jay's has made me experience that value firsthand.


👉🏻 Second: Friday, I had a call with my friend / mentor Jeffery.

I caught myself comparing my progress with MMG to other people and being a little pessimistic. And he hit me with exactly what I needed:

“Andy, your language. Nobody is ahead or behind. Everyone just brings value in different ways.”

Those two moments, for me, reinforced the same truth.

You belong in the room.

Not because of your revenue, your background, or your title.

Because you show up with curiosity, integrity, and something real to offer.

When we spend too much time in our own heads, we downplay our wins and live in the gap between where we are and where we think we should be.

The antidote?

Talk to people.
Share your ideas.
Notice your progress.
And give yourself the credit you deserve 😊

1️⃣ People stop comparing you to generalists. 

When you go all-in on a specific audience - creators, healthcare, whatever - your work stops being “good” and starts being the benchmark. That’s exactly how Martin elevated himself inside the creator economy.


2️⃣ Category leaders pull you up with them. 

Once one respected operator trusts you (in this case, Jay Clouse), others follow. A single testimonial from someone with influence in the niche can unlock an entire pipeline. Momentum is real, and I have learned this firsthand this year on my way to a $200k / revenue top line in just my second year as a creative founder. 


3️⃣ Your results get harder to replicate. 

Depth leads to pattern recognition. Fast iteration. Better decisions. Stronger outcomes. And in a world full of surface-level talent, depth is the ultimate differentiator.

How To Dominate a Niche in Creative Work

I recorded a long-form teardown of a Webflow project packed with moving parts: CMS relationships, custom nav, industry pages, and a full UX rebuild.
 
Stratford came to me with an Elementor site that needed a little love:

- No clear primary CTA
- Sliders killing performance
- Confusing navigation
- Weak semantics + accessibility
- Forms living off-site, which made tracking and conversions hard

So we rebuilt the whole thing in Webflow, from the ground up.

What we focused on:

- A CMS that separates services from deliverables (40+ examples)
- A custom mega-navigation that lets visitors choose their own path by need
- A persistent, low-friction “Get a Free Quote” slide-out form
- Industry pages + location SEO pages tuned for local intent
- A refreshed visual identity that actually matches the quality of their work
- Human-first trust builders: testimonials and photos

I recorded a full before-and-after teardown walking through the strategy, the CMS structure, and how we approached conversion for a visual, local service brand like this.
