I'm currently developing a tech platform to connect changemakers who are ready to tackle the world's most pressing issues, from poverty to climate change and inequalities. Back in 2014, I started developing an interest in international development. A few trips to Western Sahara and the largest slums in Asia and Africa opened my eyes.

Since then, I've spent a large chunk of my spare time volunteering and collaborating with non-profits. I started a local chapter of Engineers Without Borders UK and ran it for nearly 2 years. I organised events with over 50 changemakers. I became a Trustee for a homelessness charity for over a year. I went 3 months volunteering as a Team Leader in a rural village in Nepal. 

Some people spend their life looking for their purpose in life. I was lucky enough to find it at age 25. 

My purpose in life is to change the world / make a difference / make an impact / help those who need it the most / eradicate poverty / end climate change / call it however you want. 

And I've realised that the most impactful thing I can do as an individual in my life is to help connect changemakers so that they can join forces and amplify their impacts. That's why I started Good Ripple - because we do need the good ripple effect that happens when 2 changemakers come together - the power of people gets unleashed. 

I'm committed to dedicating the rest of my life to helping those who need it the most, through empowering the people who are already helping them. And I believe TechForGood is the key to achieving the SDGs by 2030.

Extinction Rebellion NL

We zitten midden in een ongekende klimaat- en ecologische crisis. Extinction Rebellion (XR) bestaat omdat onze overheid weigert plannen te maken om haar burgers te beschermen. In plaats daarvan steunt zij bedrijven die onze levens in gevaar brengen. XR organiseert creatieve, vreedzame en soms disruptieve acties om druk te zetten op de regering zodat er een burgerberaad komt om grote maatregelen te nemen.

Waarom zijn de acties soms 'verstorend' en blokkeren we bijvoorbeeld een weg, een bedrijventerrein of kantoren? Omdat alle andere vormen van actievoeren de afgelopen decennia al geprobeerd zijn en er nog steeds een klimaat- en ecologische crisis is. De geschiedenis keer op keer laat zien dat deze vreedzame 'burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid' nodig is geweest om grote, positieve veranderingen teweeg te brengen.

We are in an unprecedented climate- and ecological crisis. XR exists because our government is refusing to keep its citizens safe with climate justice plans. Instead, they are still helping the very industries that are putting our lives in danger. XR takes creative, peaceful and sometimes disruptive action, to compel our government to organize a Citizens' Assembly on climate measures. 

Why do we organize peaceful disruptive protest? Because all other forms of activism have been tried over past decades and we're still living in a climate- and ecological emergency. Because history has shown time and time again that this kind of 'civil disobedience' is needed to bring about positive and large-scale change in society.

Even though our national government signed the Paris Climate Agreement in 2015 and made the "Dutch Climate Agreement" in 2018, these agreements are not doing enough to create a safe and future-proof living environment for ourselves, our children and all other animal and plant species. 

Our way of life exceeds the limits of what the earth can provide for us. But there are plenty of ways to enjoy living together in harmony with friends, family and the wider web of life. It's still our choice to decide how we live together.

Our national government however, by not addressing the climate- and ecological crises with the required urgency, is making it more difficult to live this way. Therefore I fully support Extinction Rebellion and participate in their actions @https://extinctionrebellion.nl/

Together with fellow ‘rebels’ I demand our government starts a Citizen’s Assembly and addresses the climate- and ecological crises as soon as possible.

A Citizen's Assembly consists of a randomly selected group of ~150 citizens that reflect and represent the diversity of our society. The assembly will help us, as a democratic society, to decide on a fair way to create a just society within the boundaries of our shared planet.

This will help create a way of life that is respectful to each other and towards all life on earth!
