The Committee evaluates treaties, laws, and regulations related to anticounterfeiting and enforcement, creates guidelines and resources to help stop counterfeiting, and conducts research on counterfeit-related issues.

The ACC is dedicated to the enforcement of anticounterfeiting procedures worldwide. The Committee evaluates treaties, laws, and regulations related to anticounterfeiting and enforcement, develops and advocates for strong policies to protect against infringement, and promotes enforcement education.

As INTA’s largest committee, this term the ACC is divided into nine regional subcommittees. Each subcommittee develops its objectives based on the Association’s 2022–2025 Strategic Plan. The ACC has three Global Project Teams, each one with a specific topic to develop: Anticounterfeiting Policy, Customs, and Online Counterfeiting.

My curiosity leads me to dip into problems and solve them with all my efforts, and then? Testing and quantifying everything with numbers! I want to create new business by analyzing trends, finding patterns, and combining them with my ideas. But business is a passion that I discovered only in 2013, let's start from the beginning.

Since I was a child, I discovered that my comfort zone was in scientific subjects, and I never had enough! I decided that I would become an electrical engineer when I was 13. I attained my Diploma as Electrical and Automation Crew Chief, my Bachelor's Degree as Electrical Engineer in Napoli in 2013, and my Master's Degree in 2018.

In 2014 I was, and still, I am, super passionate about e-commerce, and I was used to buying everything on eBay. At that moment, I decided to set-up my own business. Combining my IT skills and my curiosity, I decided to launch e-commerce and doing online consultancy for technicians and engineers. This experience evolved thanks to the European Funds and the support of Majorano's group quickly. There I had the opportunity to improve my skills as an entrepreneur, leading an entire StartUp managing a team of 5 people and all the technical, HR, marketing, and sales activities.  At the end of this significant job experience, I was also in charge of the offline Business Development of Caserta, a strategic city close to Naples.
One of my latest academic challenge was an MBA in International management with ESCP Business School in Berlin (first track in Turin). I decided to be part of this program for several reasons:

From Cute to Criminal: The Counterfeit #Labubu Crisis in the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸

According to the article from JD Supra, counterfeit versions of the Labubu collectible toy are not only flooding the market, they are part of sophisticated infringing networks. 

But behind the “cute” façade lie serious risks:
🇬🇧 In the UK alone, roughly 259,000 fake toys (worth over £3.5 million) were seized in 2025, with 90% of those being counterfeit Labubu dolls.
🛃 Among seized toys, 75% failed critical safety tests, revealing banned chemicals or choking hazards, and 46% of purchasers reported serious safety issues. 

Why this matters for #BrandProtection and #online #integrity
• Trend-driven products are high-risk vectors: When a collectible becomes viral, demand spikes, margins shrink, and counterfeiters move in fast. Brands must anticipate surges in replication attempts, not just steady-state leaks.
 • Liability goes beyond #IntellectualProperty enforcement: These fakes aren’t just copying a character, they bypass #safety mechanisms, exploit consumer #trust, and can cause real harm. For brand owners, the impact now spans reputation, product safety, #regulatory exposure and consumer trust.
 • #Marketplaces and #SocialMedia platforms must raise their guard: When 75% of seized models fail safety tests, platforms hosting third-party sellers cannot treat such listings as “low impact”. They must escalate monitoring for trending toy / collectible categories, verify seller provenance and restrict anonymous listings quickly.
 • Data-driven detection is non-negotiable: Monitoring should include rapid trend-identification, seller behaviour analytics, payment method anomalies and SKU-level tracking. When a collectible goes viral, the window for counterfeiters to exploit momentum is short.

The Labubu crisis shows us that collectibles may appear low-stakes, but the brand-protection stakes are anything but. Trend + demand + weak verification = a perfect storm. We must design strategies where #innovation meets integrity, not imitation.

This year’s International Trademark Association (INTA) #Leadership Meeting marked the end of the 2024-2025 term, and honestly… what a journey it has been!

Being part of the #AntiCounterfeiting committee was already a fantastic experience, but co-leading my first Global Project Team on #Innovation took things to a whole new level. I had the privilege of co-leading this team with my dear friend and fantastic professional Julien Dudouit, and together we dove deep into the future of anti-counterfeiting:

💡 new industry solutions
💡 where the market is heading
💡 and what innovation can (and should) bring next

What I’ll remember most, though, is the people.
Over these two years I had the chance to collaborate with some of the most forward-thinking minds across the ecosystem: brands, #online protection providers, #marketplaces, #SocialMedia platforms, logistics firms, payment partners, and international institutions.

I’m grateful for the trust, the collaboration, and the energy everyone brought to the table. Working with industry leaders who genuinely care about making a difference is something special.

🧸 Counterfeit toys are not a “seasonal nuisance”, they are a systemic threat‼️ 

And the latest results from Europol & EUIPO - European Union  Intellectual Property Office’s Operation #LUDUS make that clearer than ever...

As Christmas and holiday shopping ramp up, counterfeit #toys flood #online and offline channels, exposing children to toxic materials, unsafe build quality, and products that would never pass European Union safety standards.

The scale is staggering:
🔹 16.6 million counterfeit toy packages seized since 2023
 🔹 €36.8 million in value removed from criminal networks
 🔹 555 individuals reported to authorities
 🔹 €1 billion in annual losses for the legitimate toy industry
 🔹 3,600 jobs impacted across the EU

This is not just a consumer safety issue. It’s an economic, public #health, and organized crime issue. And it shows how urgently the ecosystem needs to evolve.

What stands out in Operation LUDUS is not only the numbers, but the model:
✔️ coordinated action across borders
 ✔️ intelligence-driven targeting
 ✔️ private–public collaboration
 ✔️ digital tools enabling real-time information sharing

A recent BBC investigation highlights a growing and worrying trend as counterfeit football kits continue to flood the market at an unprecedented scale. Side by side, many fakes look almost identical to the real thing. For fans facing rising living costs, the temptation is obvious.

But the risks are hidden, and far more dangerous.
🔺 Health risks
As Chloe Long from the ACG - The Anti-Counterfeiting Group explains, counterfeiters use unregulated materials, dyes and toxins. These products are not tested, certified or compliant with any safety standards and they can cause rashes, skin irritation or even more serious issues, especially for children.
🔺 Economic damage
The legitimate industry, from clubs to manufacturers to small independent retailers, loses more than £1 billion every year. Jobs disappear. Local businesses suffer. Innovation slows.
🔺 Criminal networks
Many counterfeit sites are linked to organised crime. Consumers looking for a bargain are not just buying a fake shirt. They are unknowingly handing money and personal data to criminal operations.
🔺 A perfect storm
Rising prices, increased demand and improved counterfeits have created an environment where consumers feel pushed toward risky alternatives.

This BBC piece makes one thing very clear.
Counterfeiting is not only a trademark problem. It is a safety problem, an economic problem and a societal problem that demands collaboration, technology and prevention at scale.

As an industry, we need stronger cross border intelligence, more platform transparency, proactive online detection and faster enforcement. And above all, we need to keep educating consumers, because awareness remains one of our most powerful tools.

A recent study commissioned by Moige - Movimento Italiano Genitori and Istituto Piepoli found that only 30% of students aged 11-17 can correctly define what a fake product is, while a staggering 33% don’t perceive any difference at all. 

For the #BrandProtection industry, this result is extremely concerning, not just for #IP enforcement, but for the future of #consumer trust and #online #integrity.

What we can do:

👉 Brands need to integrate awareness of counterfeit risk into youth-focused marketing and consumer education.
👉 #Marketplace & #SocialMedia Platforms must treat youth-facing channels as high-risk zones for counterfeit flows; build models and controls tuned to teenage behaviour and ad-driven referral mechanisms.
👉 Educators, policy-makers & NGOs must look beyond “don’t buy fakes” and teach how to spot them: from packaging cues to seller credibility to price-too-good-to-be-true filters.
👉 #Intelligence must evolve: track not just takedowns, but awareness shifts among purchaser demographics, because counterfeits thrive in ignorance as much as in supply gaps.

In short: The youth market is the new frontline of brand protection. When one in three young people can’t recognise a fake, the foundations of tomorrow’s brand trust and online safety are already at risk!
