I was on outbound for about three months and since I did well, I guess they wanted me to take inbound calls. We received calls from people looking to repair their credit and we'd sell a one hundred dollar monthly service that sent letters to their creditors to remove items and fix potential errors.

Women don't belong in business.

They think they do, but they don’t.

Apologies. It had to be said.

It’s painful watching them fight for a seat at the table and claw for middle management.

Here's the thing: They shouldn't be at the table in the first place.

They should run the table. 

I’m serious. We need to hand the keys over. 

Why? Because men are simple, ego-driven maniacs.

•We buy a ping-pong table, get matching Patagonia vests, and call it culture.
•We have 'gut instincts'. (Which is usually just overconfidence + too much caffeine).
•We’d rather drive a company off a cliff rather than ask for directions.

The math backs this up.

According to the Boston Consulting Group, for every $1 of investment raised, female-run startups generated 78 cents in revenue.

Male-run startups? 31 cents.

Women are literally 2x as effective with capital…

..yet men control the funding and the C-Suite.

We need to let them drive. Immediately.

Let them grind, make deals, and push the conversation. I'm fine with it.

All I want to do is stay home, go to brunch, and be the trophy husband I am.

So please, ladies. 

Get to work.

I try to practice gratitude, but being this insightful is exhausting.

It’s gotten to the point where I can hardly go out in public. The cost of fame is is a real burden.

When I go to a shared workspace to get some writing done, I'm immediately cornered.

"Hey, can I PiCk YoUr BrAiN?"

"What do you think of my new SaaS tool?"

"My wedding is going to be $30 M. Do you think that's ok?"

I love to serve. That being said, I am only one man.

I'm not an insights vending machine. I can't give you ALL my secrets...

Then, there's this guy. (see pic) 

He wouldn't stop talking. I had to pretend to get a phone call just to escape. Read the room, Jeffrey. (jk we tight)

For everyone else, I know you need help, but I'm just trying to get to the bathroom.

Please. Give me some space.

And if you see me in public, just nod respectfully from a distance.

I struggle with networking events.

A hotel ballroom, a peel-and-stick nametag, letting our phones bump…gross.

More than anything, it feels transactional.

“Oh, you write for CEOs? That’s cool. Well, anyway, do you know anyone who needs bookkeeping? We should totally get on a zoom next week. Just a quick chat.” 

I’m trying to escape. You’re trying to escape. It’s a hostage situation with bad apps. (Tiny cold vegetables and hard cheese? Please.) 

There is absolutely NO VIBE.

So, Jacob, Tyson and I decided to fix it. 

We created Vibe Networking.

Here is how it works:

•Speed Networking: We use a structured, timed format. You won't get stuck listening to a 20-minute monologue about someone's ‘journey’. You talk, you move. It’s fast and painless.

•Give Mentality: We flipped the script. Most networking is, "What can I get from you?" Vibe is 100% focused on: "How can I help this person?"

If you come trying to extract value, you won’t like it. If you try to connect people and solve problems, you will LOVE it.

We are looking for givers, (you have something unique to offer) collaborators, (you can make connections for people) and those who are tired of the social hunting experiment. 

Come for new friends. Stay because no one is trying to use you as a therapist.

"I hope your wife reads this and divorces you. She deserves better."

That is a real comment I got on a LinkedIn post last week.

I didn't get upset. Maybe this person was right. I went straight to Julie. 

I read the comment to her. She went quiet for a moment. Then she said:

"I should create a LinkedIn account just to reply to her. Let her know that I'm happily homeschooling my kids and not going anywhere."

(I knew I married her for a reason)

But then she asked me a serious question: 

"Do you like this? Do you ever think about the misinterpretation and / or perception of what you do?"

It made me think. Why do I write satire? Why do I attempt comedy?

Why not just post "5 Tips for Better Leadership" and play it safe?

Because safe is invisible.

Most leaders are terrified of Perception Fallout. They think, "If I crack a joke, I'll look unprofessional."

But I did a little digging and the research actually says the opposite. (read the newsletter)

The people you are afraid of offending? They'll forget by tomorrow.

They're inundated with content and for the most part, they're just plain bored. They're scrolling and waiting for someone to be real.

So, let the angry people comment. Let them tell you your marriage is doomed.

Writing a viral post isn't magic.

I mean, last week, I wrote a post claiming I have no friends, eat steak in silence, and sing duets with myself.

And I knew the post would do well the second I hit publish.

I didn't think for a second about "impression rates being down" or how the algorithm affects its reach.
