Promote and market events across the Ards Borough; shape communications to fit organsation’s ‘tone of voice’ and brand; copywriting (above and below the line advertisements); assemble and design marketing materials (brochures, posters, flyers); update websites; press releases; direct mail campaigns; manage high-profile ‘Experience Ards’ Tour programme; compile and sign off simultaneously on two key brochures with short publishing and distribution timeline.  The Council subsequently made this an annually-recurring, paid position.

I was employed for the role of a Marcomms assistant but my artistic background and the impact of the pandemic encouraged my role to change. In 2 and half years, I've managed to evolve my role into the purely creative workload I initially hoped it would become when I started at United Learning. Through this, I've built relationships with the schools and other Central Office Teams when they need creative support.

Whist I still assist the other members of the Marketing and Communications Team with anything they need, I mostly handle artwork and design across the Group. I design and create any external promotional materials our 90+ schools need. Such as posters, flyers, outdoor banners, press adverts, website graphics, video editing, prospectuses and more!
I also support the Group and United Teaching with various materials and templates; most recently, introducing hand drawn digital illustrations and motion graphics.

The Peterborough School

I took on the role of part-time childcare practitioner at The Peterborough School Nursery working in preschool. I shared the role of key worker with the other part time practitioner, and we worked as a team tracking our key children’s development, planning for their needs and completing reports on tapestry each week. Additionally, this role meant I worked with both groups of children and children individually.
This role developed my experience with children aged 2-4 and helped to build my knowledge of the Early Years Statutory Framework.
At the nursery I demonstrated the basic skills and responsibilities required to work with children. For example, maintaining they are safe, occupied, creatively stimulated, learning, and engaging with them through play and guidance.
Additionally, I demonstrated skills such as; effective communication, problem solving, being a responsible figure, and taking leadership, but also working as a team with other staff. Furthermore, I worked under the rules, acts and regulations the place of work holds.

During my time at The Peterborough School Nursery I completed an Emergency First Aid at Work course, a Paediatric First Aid course and CPD Level 1 Safeguarding Children - for Education.

Edge Hill runs a mentoring scheme where I, a student at the time, chat through an online program to potential applicants. I helped them with the application process, answer their questions and reassure them when necessary. I’m am confident, responsible and approachable, making them comfortable speaking to me; so, the applicants are less daunted by UCAS, dealing with offers and the idea of going to university. I assisted them to the best of my ability; but if there is anything I don’t know, I seek out the answers and point them in the right direction.

Whilst studying at New College Stamford, I volunteered at Peterborough Regional College on my day off where I assisted with Christmas Craft sessions for 16-25-year olds with learning difficulties. My responsibilities were based on leadership, communication and care. I assisted the main tutor, took leadership in small groups, helped the students when needed it and made sure I communicated clearly so everyone understood what they needed to be doing. Additionally, my role meant following health and safety regulation and rules the tutor had put in place.
