Why are sales cycles taking so much longer right now?

Yesterday, I jumped on The Beyond 7 Figures Podcast to discuss this topic with Charles E. Gaudet II. 

Now, me talking sales might seem strange because I focus more on the marketing side of business. 

Yet, the reality is, speeding up a lengthy sales cycle requires effective marketing.

Especially when your buyers are online.

You see, based on Google's research, buyers now spend about 7 hours consuming your content before ever reaching out. 

This means long before your sales team gets involved, prospects are already comparing options and deciding how much they trust you.

So if your marketing isn't built to support this journey, your sales team is at a major disadvantage. 

And it's why they should consistently share marketing content with prospects.

You see, the real fix to longer sales cycles isn't adding more follow-ups or tightening scripts. 

These days, you must have a content ecosystem that helps buyers complete those 7 hours faster, so your solution stays top of mind.

Google's 7-11-4 Rule explains how these 7 hours play out.

According to their research, before someone is ready to make a buying decision, they typically need:

✅  7 hours of interaction with your brand's content.
✅  11 touchpoints across different channels.
✅  4 separate locations where they encounter you (such as your website, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)

Think about this... 

Seven hours isn't a single deep-dive video. 

It requires dozens of small, consistent impressions that compound.

If you only show up in one or two places, or rely on your sales team to educate buyers, you're missing most of the required touchpoints. 

This is why deals stall. 

Because buyers don't have enough familiarity or trust to move forward.
