Is this your life's work?

Here's how you know you found what you're meant to do.

Steve Jobs said the only way to do great work is to love what you do. But how do you know when you found it?

Jobs understood that "meant to do" isn't destiny handed to you. It's alignment discovered through action.

When what you do matches who you are, you don't have to force it. It flows.

Here are the unmistakable signs:

Time disappears when you're doing it

You sit down to work and suddenly four hours passed.

That's not distraction. That's flow. That's your soul saying "Yes, this is it."

If you're constantly watching the clock, you haven't found what you're meant to do yet. You found what pays the bills.

You do it even if no one was watching or paying you

Strip away the money, recognition, status. Would you still do it?

Do you do it in your spare time? In those cracks of your life?

People who found what they're meant to do can't NOT do it.

It's not about external reward. It's about internal compulsion.

I know people making millions who do the same work for free. That's when you know.

Other people seek you out specifically for this thing

When you found what you're meant to do, you don't have to convince people you're good at it.

They come to you because there's something about the way you do it that's different.

Your meant-to-do has your fingerprints all over it. It's unmistakably yours.

It challenges you without crushing you

What you're meant to do isn't easy. But it's not torture either.

It stretches you. Sometimes frustrates the hell out of you.

But it never depletes you. Not really.

You finish exhausted but satisfied. Not drained and resentful.

If your work drains your soul, it's not your purpose. It's a paycheck.

Follow what makes you lose track of time, what you can't not do, what people seek you out for, and what challenges you without crushing you.

That's your life's work.

You're busy. But empty.

If you're constantly busy but feel unfulfilled, you're trapped in the busy-but-empty pattern.

Pay attention to how you feel when I describe this: Your calendar is packed. You're productive. You're accomplishing things. 

And yet... you feel hollow.

The busy-but-empty pattern looks like this:

You end every day exhausted but can't point to anything that actually mattered. You're busy, but not on purpose. You're productive, but not fulfilled.

You keep adding more to your plate, thinking the emptiness is just because you haven't accomplished enough yet. 

Spoiler: It's not.

Here's what's really happening:

You're using busyness as a distraction from the fact that you're not doing what actually matters to you.

Busy feels productive. Busy feels important. Busy gives you permission to avoid the scary question: "Am I building a life I actually want to live?"

I spent three years in this pattern. Worked 70-hour weeks. Accomplished everything. And felt absolutely nothing.

Because I was doing all the right things for someone else's life—not mine.

The busy-but-empty pattern is sophisticated avoidance.

You're avoiding the hard work of figuring out what actually fills you up by staying busy enough that you don't have to feel the emptiness.

It's like eating junk food all day so you don't have to face that you're not actually nourished.

The busyness isn't the problem. The emptiness is the message. Your soul is trying to tell you something.

Breaking this pattern isn't about doing less. It's about doing what matters.

Start tracking meaning, not just tasks. 

At the end of each day, ask: 

"Did I do something that mattered to ME today? Not to my boss, not to society—to me?"

If the answer is consistently no, your busyness is just expensive avoidance.

You can be busy AND fulfilled. But only when your busy serves your purpose instead of avoiding it.

Which feels more true: you're busy because you love what you're doing, or you're busy because you're afraid to stop?

Trying to sound professional is actually keeping you broke.

Let me explain.

Most people think sounding professional means using fancy words, corporate language, hiding your personality. Sound smart. Sound polished. Sound like everyone else.

But here's what actually happens:

When you sound like everyone else, you become forgettable. You blend in. You're just another person saying the same thing as 50 other people in your field.

People don't remember vanilla. They remember different.

I've watched this pattern for years. The people making real money aren't the most polished. They're the most memorable.

They talk like real humans. They share actual opinions. They're not afraid to say things some people will disagree with.

And that's what makes them money.

Because when you're memorable, people think of you first. When you're generic, people forget you exist.

Here's what to do:

Write the way you actually talk. If you're funny, be funny. If you're direct, be direct. I say "dude" in my business emails.

Share one opinion some people will disagree with. That's how you find your people.

Stop trying to appeal to everyone. When you try to be for everyone, you end up being for no one.

For 7+ years, I built a business based on who I thought I was supposed to be.

Not because I worked harder.  Because I stopped fighting myself.

My brain doesn’t work in straight lines. And for most of my life, I thought that made me broken.

I can’t tell you how many times I was called “too much” or “not enough” in the same breath.

→ Systems that looked good on paper but made me want to scream

Until one day I couldn’t fake it anymore.

The overwhelm hit too hard.
The pressure to “do it right” was killing my creativity.

I realized: I wasn’t building a business.
I was building a cage.

So I burned the old version down.
And I started over.

This time, I built for ME. 

For MY brain.
For MY energy.
For how ACTUALLY work.

• I stopped trying to look like a CEO and started feeling like one.
• I stopped chasing consistency and started building sustainability.
• I created flexible systems that support me, no matter how I'm feeling.
  
And I let go of the shame that told me I was behind.

For my first 40ish years, I thought the hard part was making the decision to change. Boy, was I wrong. 

→ To start over.
→ To slow down.
→To  leave the job.
→ To set the boundary.

But it’s not.

The hard part?

Is making that decision again.
And again.
And again.

And every day I have to choose:

→ Letting the inner chaos be witnessed without being obeyed
→ And texting my inner circle when the urge to “overdo” hits hard

Because sometimes, the bravest thing I do all day is NOT starting a new project.

Change isn’t one big, bold leap.

It’s a thousand tiny choices made in quiet moments.

And most of them won’t feel powerful.

They’ll feel boring, uncomfortable, terrifying, or wrong.

But they’re not. 

They’re holy. 
They're sacred.

They're what becoming Future You requires. 

The question is: will you do what it takes to make them when it counts?

No one taught me how to rebuild when my life fell apart (multiple times). So I taught myself.

And this is exactly why I was able to turn the shittiest experiences into fertalizer for my ideal life.

No one hands you a checklist for reinvention after:

→ A layoff 
→ A divorce 
→ A failed business 
→ A wake-up call you can’t un-hear 
→ A rock-bottom mental health spiral

But here’s what I’ve learned:

You don’t bounce back. You build FORWARD.

(or at least you CAN)

Here’s how you do it.

1. Let the version of you that’s dying… actually die.
   
Stop trying to hold her together.

She got you this far. She did her best. But she can’t take you where you’re going.

You can grieve her. But don’t drag her with you.

2. Stop asking, “What do I DO now?”
   
Start asking, “Who do I BECOME now?"

Reinvention isn’t a to-do list. It’s an identity shift.

And the biggest mistake we make is trying to fix a life that no longer fits us.

Instead of creating a new one that lets us feel as good as we deserve.

3. Make exploration your strategy.
   
Try the thing. Book the trip. Say yes to what pulls you.

Your next chapter won’t be found in a pros/cons list. It’ll be found while you're in motion, following your curiosity.

You don’t need a five-year plan. You need a SPARK.

4. Audit everything. Ruthlessly.
   
→ What do you tolerate? 
→ Who do you spend time with? 
→ What do you pretend to enjoy? 
→ Where do you keep betraying your gut?

Reinvention starts with subtraction. Cut what no longer fits.

5. Choose the kind of life you want first.
