Assistant Director

OCPS is among the largest employers in Orange County, and the 8th largest school district in the US. This translates into many ways to engage with active growing families that may need a company's services.   

I helped companies reach the families of the 208,000+ students and the 24,000+ OCPS employees through event sponsorships and advertising.  I managed Orange County Public Schools' advertising and corporate partnerships program using digital, mobile, print, outdoor advertising and experiential marketing to raise money for Orange County Public Schools. This is close to a million dollars under contract between our event and athletic sponsorships, naming agreements and advertising agreements with local and regional businesses.  

My team's goal is to support our sponsors and advertisers as they reach the families of our students and our OCPS employees while supporting K-12 education.

I managed the marketing, advertising and public relations for an elective medical practice and its 10 clinics around the country. While there was no typical day in the office, my work required

Working closely with the COO, CFO and Sales Director to optimize the business results based on the ad spend and staffing in clinics.

Developing and revising the weekly advertising budgets for each of the markets (a mixture of Top 10, Top 20 and Top 40 media markets) while working with a changing weekly advertising budget.

Navigating through the launch of a new brand due to a dissolving business partnership, and opening new markets to replace revenue due to offices that were to be leaving the company's portfolio.

Conducting the company's media planning, media buying and post-campaign analysis for the radio, television, print, out-of-home and digital media advertising (PPC and content marketing).

Developing new content for white papers used in lead gen via the website, PPC and online affiliates.

Managing vendor relations with more than 60 media partners, while negotiating payment terms for past due media invoices in excess of $300,000.

​The business and its owners faced several challenges including cash flow and a declining reputation.  The company eventually closed as the owners chose to pursue new ventures.

We worked with clients to develop and execute integrated marketing campaigns that delivered measurable results. 

I developed the marketing strategy for our clients' campaigns based on consumer insights. I then worked with other members of our team to execute the campaign, while tweaking the campaign as necessary. 

Our tools were digital marketing including the use of mobile and social media; traditional advertising and through the line marketing tactics.

Projects included 
•	the management of the Public Relations for the 24th and 25th annual Zora Neale Hurston Festival of Arts and Humanities.	
•	a month-long experiential marketing campaign for the Orange County Regional History Center, which led to a double digit increase in attendance during our campaign. 	
•	the development and execution of the marketing and advertising plan for an annual College Football Game hosted in Orlando, broadcasted live across the nation on ESPN. 
•	sponsorship sales for a national television news magazine program.
•	media outreach for the local leg of a 7-city tour by a representative of The White House.

Responsibilities: Developed, implemented and helped drive the marketing portion of the district-based market plans down to the office level. 

Worked with District Managers to identify and prioritize marketing opportunities in the districts on a weekly basis.  

Assisted Office Leaders in the development and execution of office-level local marketing plans that addressed the strengths and opportunities of the office staff and retail trade area.  

Led local marketing event/ street team tactics that offered a high opportunity for growth in the District (including Latino Blitz, client segment targeting, office visibility impact and competitive analysis)

Ensured consistency and compliance with brand management guidelines at the district and office levels. 

Researched community organizations and businesses for partnership opportunities.  

Attended district weekly meetings and met one-on-one with Office Managers to assess business strengths and weaknesses, and recommend tactics to grow the tax business. 

Trained internal and external street teams on marketing and customer service expertise at the office level. 

Worked with local media to create targeted opportunities of H&R Block promotions, within the community. Supervised street teams and mobile units to ensure marketing tasks were completed efficiently. 

Ensured compliance with tax season office appearance standards throughout all of the district offices. 

Provided feedback and/or suggestions for the Regional Marketing Manager on all Marketing tasks and outcomes in the district including strategic and tactical opportunities to increase revenue.

Results: The Districts that I served consistently ranked nationally among the Top 20 Districts for revenue growth during the Tax Season.  Based on revenue growth in 3 offices, one District Manager was able to reclassify these offices to allocate more resources including staff and budgets.

After serving as the Chair of the Chapter's Marketing Committee for approximately 3 years, I was elected to the role of Vice President of Marketing.  

As the Chapter’s Vice President of Marketing, I provided the strategic and tactical leadership for the Chapter's local marketing, branding and communications.  I managed a team of volunteers who worked with me to execute our vision for the marketing, using the Chapter's website, Public Relations, Social Media, Traditional Advertising and Internet Advertising.
  
My team and I were able to accomplish the following: 
•	Redesign our website in Joomla (the first revision in 5 years) 
•	Generate earned media for the Chapter and our members in the Orlando Business Journal, Orlando Sentinel CFB and www.wsjonline.com 
•	Document our Chapter's history with more than 350 photos and videos
•	Grow the number of Facebook fans by more than 200%
•	Establish our presence on Twitter and LinkedIn.  
•	Manage more than 20 email campaigns to our members and followers (a list of 1,200+ subscribers)
•	Execute 10 ad campaigns to support the Chapter’s programming using a mix of social media and public relations

Worked with local business owners and regional companies to harness the power of television and the internet to develop successful advertising campaigns.  Channel 9 and WFTV.com were the leading local television station and TV news website in the market. Client categories included retail (furniture), real estate, financial services, QSR (quick service restaurants) and automotive.

While I sold "spots and dots" at WFTV, my passion was Non-Traditional Revenue.  I could be counted on to sell the station's special projects such as "The Medical City" documentary, the "Going Green Initiative" and "Rachel's Challenge". 

My client roster included several "new" TV advertisers.  They were considered "new" because although the companies were national advertisers, they had never directly spent money with WFTV. It was quite a feat to identify "new" budgets able to accommodate TV during the economic crisis of the late 2000s.

WMFE TV/FM

Created a portfolio of B2B and B2C sponsors consisting of local, regional and
national businesses. Products sold included advertising and program and event sponsorships.

Consistently exceeded annual sales goals by double digits with a strategy of relationship selling and new business development skills. The portfolio grew from zero to $400,000 annually over a 5-year period, to a total of $1.2 million in sales while at WMFE. This was achieved despite a fiercely competitive advertising marketplace and industry-imposed restrictions on sponsor messages. The stable of clients reflected a wide variety of industries including automotive, financial, home improvement, travel, professional services and real estate. 

Served as Interim Director of Sales for 7 months while the company sought a Vice President of Sales.

As the Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing at Orange County Public Schools (OCPS), I leverage my MBA and over 15 years of experience in B2B and B2C sales, marketing, and advertising to generate revenue for the 8th largest school district in the US. 

I manage the advertising and corporate partnerships program using digital, mobile, print, OOH, experiential marketing, and event sponsorships to generate more than a million dollars under contract with local and regional businesses. 

I am passionate about creating and executing integrated marketing campaigns that produce measurable results and a positive impact for our clients, OCPS, our students and staff and other stakeholders. 

I have successfully managed multiple projects simultaneously, from developing and revising weekly advertising budgets for 10 markets, to navigating through a brand launch and opening new markets, to managing the grassroots marketing, strategic partnerships, website, and social media for a community arts production. 

One of my proudest professional achievements was to have my fledgling firm’s client campaign be recognized by PR News as a finalist and a recipient of honorable mention at the International PR News Awards.
