ISC is a wholesaler insurance company. As part of the ISC engineering department, the backbone of ISC, we provide and maintain the main web-based software and infrastructure used by thousands of users of different roles: agents, underwriters, auditors, carriers, etc. to illustrate the lifecycle of an insurance policy.

As a software engineer, I take part in:
• Add new products to the platform: rating and quote generation, legal document generation, etc.
• Design and develop new services to be consumed by the main platform and exposed to partners: wholesaler portal, OCR microservice, …
• Provide support to existing products by implementing updates and business requested changes, in addition to resolving eventual bugs.

SOCi provides a cross-social-network platform where business owners can connect social pages and manage all in one place. From posts to reviews through conversations, engagements, and sentiment analysis, our product provides an easy-to-use SaaS that relieves the burden of multiple networks content management and helps improve business-to-client partnership.

From the technical perspective, I work in a mob made of three senior developers. We clear out bug tickets when time permits and focus mainly on building new features that add value. We discuss specs, create subtasks, make estimates, take decisions on the implementation taking into consideration delivery time, code complexity, and reliability.

Less frequently, we do some refactoring and work on improving the existing architecture to deliver more efficient and scalable code.

Working as a mob helps sharing thoughts and reduces the risk of misconception and bugs, in addition to reducing the overload of pre/post deployment testing.

We use Jira to track tickets and progress of new features as a group of vertical slices, and GitHub as principal VCS and collaboration tool.

Senior Full Stack Developer

Tunisian Air Force (TAF) 

Started as a junior Software Developer, contributed to achieving local applications using ArcGIS, Visual Basic, Java, and Avenue: Flight Navigation Log, Route Selection (length, clearance), Fuel/Bearing Calculation, ICAO Weather API communication, Alerts Broadcasting – ATAM/ANAM, Aerial Warfare Strategic Simulation.

Part of my duties was to ensure applying best code practices and security principles (prevent SQL injection, Replay, Password Hashing, Data Encryption at rest, etc.) as well as testing.

By the meantime, I had the opportunity to work with a cross-functional team of engineers and designers to implement a prototype of flight simulator and other military related training emulators.

Starting from 2009, worked with a team on migrating existing applications to Web and SaaS applications using LAMP and .NET stacks (2013).

In 2010, I started leading a team that includes product managers, graphic designers, and software engineers, in charge of developing new applications. This resulted in having to lead meetings with our internal stakeholders and discuss business goals and budgeting. In addition, I was periodically reporting achievements and progress to our chain of command.

In the last two years (2016-2018), while still working as a Full Stack Developer, I had the chance to run Data Analysis and apply Machine Learning algorithms on data extracted from a Computer Vision process allowing Facial Identification (Python, Haar-Cascade, R, H2O, Distributed Random Forest, OpenCV).

I am a software engineer and entrepreneur originally from Tunisia, now based in California.
