🎵 I wish  #NFTs existed 10 - 15 years ago.

I have practically been a music nerd for all my life. 

I used to play in various bands and as a solo artist as well as worked for record labels, organized festivals & managed up and coming artists.

I consider this experience very precious and am thankful for the opportunities I received.

I got to play in Los Angeles on Sunset Boulevard and toured the entire US.

Ranked up over half a million plays on Myspace (Yes, Myspace did exist back then)

Got featured in the biggest Rock/ Metal magazine in China.

And was on German TV.

Why am I telling you this?

It sounds like that could pay the bills right?

It didn't. AT ALL. It was a +- business.

Independent artists without much representation have it hard. 

Music piracy did not help at the beginning of the century.

And the model of streaming pays independent artists unfairly.

Along came COVID and seriously threatened live music and musicians.

Music NFTs taking off (in the next few years) feels like a resurrection for the music industry to me.
 
🎸 For independent artists NFTs could provide an opportunity to connect with fans in unique ways.

NFTs are not a get-rich-quick scheme, it needs work, but it could enable artists to make a better living than now.

You don't need millions of streams on Spotify, but maybe only a few hundred devoted fans that invest in your journey and see you grow.

💿 Record labels, publishing agencies & more can use NFTs to offer new experiences to music lovers.
At the same time creating new income streams could also mean that more investments go into up and coming artists long-term.

It puts a little bit of the power back into the hands of the music industry.

I've seen artists disappear over the years because they ran out of fuel at some point (financial wise).

Wouldn't it be great to experience live music and at the same time know that the artists performing can provide for themselves and their family?

This system combines technology and sociology and geared towards working with local government, businesses and citizens in specific target cities or regions.

Broadband Mechanics is bringing "social to software" was the tagline.  Broadband Mechanic's platform - PeopleAggregator - was a SaaS social networking and blogging with two kinds of APIs.  Broadband Mechanic worked supported open standards for social networking like FOAF and OpenID.

Meet MediaBand (Interactive Music Video band), The Marc Canter Show (Interactive TV Talk show) and the MediaBar (Venue based operating system) were all projects undertaken by Canter Technology.  The result is scalable content, multimedia personalization and a new paradigm of tools.

Created the MediaBand - an early example of an Interactive Music video ensemble.  Created "Meet the Mediaband" - which featured two interactive music videos.  Circa '92-'94

Macromedia

MacroMind was the original multimedia tools company. Founded to produce videogame tools for the nascent Macintosh computer in 1984, MacroMind evolved into the industry's leading multimedia authoring system. Received VC funding, moved to SF, merged with several companies, became Macromedia in 1991. Went public Dec. 1993 [MACR] 

Merged with Adobe in 2005.

Between these two videos, our working code, 2 patents and a trademark, we have experienced software, entertainment and AI execs running Instigate.ai. But this page is about Marc - so let's talk about him (me.)

Marc is an experienced software CEO/Chairman - who co-founded MacroMind, which became Macromedia [MACR.]

Marc Canter is a serial entrepreneur, visionary leader, zero to one expert and opinionated tech evangelist who has been involved in the software industry from the outset in the early 1980's.  His reputation is that of a straight talker, no bullshit advocate of users, user's rights and warrior in the on-going battle between man vs machine.

Marc's company MacroMind was founded in '84 - became Macromedia in '91.  He was one of the founding fathers of the multimedia industry and spent the 90's working on "broadband"​ and "Interactive TV"​ content and tools.  The 00's brought focus on blogging and social media - when Marc founded Broadband Mechanics which sold and licensed a white labeled social networking platform called "PeopleAggregator."​

The 10's saw Marc move his family to Cleveland, Ohio (in 2009), where he founded "Digital City Mechanics"​ - and started working on a system to create on-line jobs and "digital economy ecosystems."​

Instigate, Inc. was created in the summer of '16 and started working on an AI Authoring system which makes training user's own sentient Storytelling Beings possible.

Marc Canter is a 38+ year software entrepreneur focused on leveraging interactive web and mobile based technology with community and people in general.
