Yesterday's AI GTM Workshop at Clay wasn't what I expected

It was BETTER - here are some insights I gathered from teaching:

1. Improvisation - the wifi went down for 45 min before we started. Normally, people might panic in this situation BUT this created an opportunity for us to openly talk about what each person THOUGHT they wanted to build during the workshop. HOWEVER, their ideas transformed as we asked more questions. This is a beautiful result of being curious, empathetic, and inquisitive. 

2. Every artist has a medium. We deeply believe this at Clay. So, we brought in a sketch artist (Saki- she's amazing!) to recreate each student's favorite photos and bring THEM into her artistic process. The result? People were beaming with joy when they say the finished art. Every artist has a medium. Saki has sketching. Now they (the students) have Clay.

3. Beginners prefer to be GIVEN 1-2 workflows to build. This is contrary to Intermediates who already know what they want to build but just need a little gut check before starting. Next time, we'll let beginners choose from a set of pre-determined usecases (ex: inbound, outbound, crm, etc...)

4. Don't let students "chase the rabbit". Clay is powerful, but with great power comes great responsibility. Just because you CAN do (almost) anything doesn't mean you should - especially given time constraints. During open build, it makes sense to checkin with students every 10 min to ensure they're not going down rabbit holes and coming back empty-handed.

This is only the beginning.

🧠Habits I'll continue
1. Going for a walk first thing in the morning (feel happier)
2. Making a slow coffee in the morning 60-90 min after waking up (no crash)
3. no coffee after 1pm (sleep is terrible)
3. Reading before bed instead of Netflix (i feel more rested)
4. Weekly therapy sessions
5. Working out (Weightlifting 4x, Pilates 1-2x, Tennis 1-2x, Salsa 2x)
6. Use the Big Ass Calendar (it forced me to proactively plan a year of adventure)
7. Contrast Therapy (dry sauna with friends feels amazing for my body and soul)
8. Matcha Mornings with core group to just hang and chat once per week
9. Weekend Hikes (walking in nature feels so good)
10. Going for mid-day walks to change up my location (feels more creative and days are less blurred)

This year's themes for me are creating, thriving, and exploring. Last year was focused on community and expansiveness. Last year, I fractured my L1 vertabrae after getting violently thrown off a horse - was bedridden for 3 months. I'm motivated to feel strong, athletic, and explosive again. Bright side - 7 solo skydive jumps!

Flashback to 2021

I was an SDR grinding out hyper-personalized emails the hard way

I’m talking deep manual research. Opening 20 tabs per prospect. Writing specific lines for every single prospect. The results were there, but so was the pain

I felt stuck. I knew there had to be a better way

Then in 2021, I was exposed to Clay

I remember my early meetings with Yash Tekriwal 🤔 and Matthew Quan

Were we spoke about hyper-personalized first-line openers, tips and tricks at scale

That’s when it hit me

I realized I was more of a technical person than a regular salesperson. I realized I wasn't just an SDR. I was a system builder

Moving from SDR to GTM Engineering changed everything

It bridged the gap between my technical brain and client revenue targets

Now, I can't imagine doing my job without this stack

My advice to any SDR reading this.

If you find yourself obsessed with the data and systems more than the dialing.

Stop learning n8n. It’s already legacy

In 2024/25, we were obsessed with nodes and visual workflows. In 2026, we have Claude Code

I remember when setting up a simple automated workflow required:

 - Finding a tool like n8n or Zapier

 - Checking if they actually had the right node

 - Mapping JSON fields manually like a digital plumber

 - Debugging a visual UI that didn't always show the full error

In 2026, that entire middleman layer feels like a relic

With the rise of agentic tools like Claude Code, the Node is dead

Why spend weeks mastering a proprietary UI just to connect an API when you can just... talk to your terminal?

2026 is the era where No-Code is being replaced by Natural Code. If you can describe it, Claude can build it

The skill is no longer knowing how to use an automation platform. The skill is knowing exactly what you want to achieve.

The best automation tool of 2026 isn't a platform. It's a CLI.

I built my own custom Scraper because I was tired of losing control. 🤖

Most web scrapers give you two choices:

- They are easy to use, but you can’t change how they work.
- You have total control, but you need a computer science degree just to fix a Next Page button.

I wanted a third option. So, I used Cursor and Cloud Code to build Omesiri's Webscraper.

It’s designed to find leads in places other tools can't reach.

Why this is different:

- It acts like a human: It navigates websites naturally. It doesn’t just grab data, it visits each item's detail page for a deep scrape.

- It handles logins: I built a dedicated authentication page. It saves my sessions so I can scrape data hidden behind login screens.

- It solves the pagination headache: No more skipped pages or frozen bots. It follows the next button until the job is done.

- It’s incredibly cheap 🤯

The big win is I have full control of my tooling and I’m finding fresh leads in niche directories.

2 Months as Senior GTM

December 2025 ended on a high note for me at C17 Lab with a promotion to Senior GTM.

In January (Month 1) my instinct was to dive into every problem, overhaul every process, and prove exactly why I earned that "Senior" title. I felt like I needed to be everywhere at once.

But as I'm moving through February (Month 2), I’m realizing that leadership isn’t about how many fires I can jump into, it’s about which ones you choose to extinguish first.

In a recent check-in, Utkarsh Rana 🧲 gave me the perspective I needed. 

He said: Take it easy. Dive deep, but don't forget to breathe. We’re building for the long term.

It’s rare to be in an environment that rewards your drive while actively coaching you on how to sustain it.

My takeaways from Month 2 of the new role:

- Leading with Empathy: It’s not just about hitting the GTM targets; it’s about understanding the team’s pulse.

- Diving Deep (With Focus): I’m still diving into every problem, but now I’m doing it with more intention and less frantic urgency.

- Still a Student: Even with a promotion, the best way to lead is to keep asking questions like it’s Day 1.
