I joined Georgian to build our Growth Team, which focused on sourcing deals for our investment pipeline and engaging with a community of early-stage companies through the Georgian CoLab. 

This role was a unique blend of sales, product, and marketing, and I loved every minute of it. I am particularly proud of the work we did building the CoLab from scratch to include over 150 companies, and how we shifted Georgian's sourcing approach to a market-led and hypothesis-driven model. PostBeyond by Influitive

After 4 years of selling, I moved into a full-time role on the PostBeyond product team to strengthen my product management skillset. My work in this role was focused on driving product strategy and growth in adoption of the PostBeyond platform. I also founded and led our Customer Advisory Board, working closely with our top customers to gather product feedback and validate our roadmap.

PostBeyond was successfully acquired by Influitive in 2021.

Product Manager

Led enterprise sales for PostBeyond, consulting world-class brands on how to develop and implement employee advocacy and social selling programs. 

- Closed 18 new logos as an individual contributor 
- Secured key customer renewals and upsells
- Managed sales funnel operations and processes
- Provided sales enablement and coaching support to SDRs and AEs
- Self-produced and hosted a customer webinar - personally closed $100K USD in deals from the webinar leads

Director of Sales

Built an account-based sales development process and lead a team of five sales reps. Created a new hiring framework, training documents and core collateral for the team. Trained five sales reps on effective techniques for sparking conversation and opening deals for PostBeyond. Implemented an integrated sales technology stack including:

Account Development Manager

Evangelized the PostBeyond platform in the market, developed strong customer relationships and closed foundational deals for the company. 

Booked over $500K in annual recurring revenue - key logos included BMO, National Geographic, Ceridian, Rosetta Stone, CBC, Parexel, BCD Travel.

Strategic Account Executive

First dedicated sales hire at PostBeyond. Employee #5.

Developed and executed an outbound sales strategy consisting of drip email campaigns, social selling and cold calling. Worked on building a pipeline of Qualified Sales Opportunities (QSOs) to pass to Account Executives.

Averaged 12 QSOs per month (target of 8).

Hunter & Craft was a startup studio focused on leadership, sales and design thinking. On our Podcast, Hunter & Craft Radio, we connected with ambitious entrepreneurs to hear their stories and lessons learned.

I started H&C with my good friend Chad McCaffrey as a side project in 2015. We wound down the site and podcast after 25 episodes... sadly real life got in the way... but the content lives on!

eProf Education Inc.

Co-founded eProf.com, an education technology company. 

eProf was a first-mover in the education commerce space. As a company, we built the first software-as-a-service platform that allowed education businesses to promote and sell their blended online courses (synchronous and asynchronous content) within a white-labeled online storefront. We targeted educators and businesses looking to leverage the web to reach new students and grow revenues.

eProf raised $250k in funding over the first two years of operations, and scaled to a team as large as 10. For the first 18 months, we worked out of the MaRS Discovery District in downtown Toronto. We built and sold eProf as a subscription software platform and had over 1000 accounts created, with 50 paying customers from across the world. eProf helped facilitate over 3000 synchronous online learning sessions over two years.

Despite building a really interesting product, we never found true product-market fit for eProf, and we shut down the company after 2.5 years. We came away with many hard knocks and lessons learned, which I will be forever thankful for.

MindPuck.ca

MindPuck was an online media hub focused on serving up the most entertaining content from the world of hockey. I created MindPuck in my third year of university, as a way to share my passion for the game.

MindPuck was the first brand and WordPress website that I ever created - it was a really fun first step into the world of tech and entrepeneurship. The site gained considerable popularity in its lifetime with over 45,000 unique visitors from all continents in just over 15 months. 

As the founder, I put together a contributor staff of 4 core writers and 6 intern students. I personally wrote over 1500 posts for the site, the majority coming in the 2011-2012 NHL season. I redesigned the site after learning to code, but made the decision to shut it down after the NHL lockout hit in 2012-2013. I never made any money from MindPuck, but I gained valuable experience and kickstarted my career in tech.

Co-founded StreamPass.tv | A Ticketing Platform For Live-Streamed Events | Managed the development of the site's beta functionality by writing HTML, CSS, Ruby, & JavaScript code and led a team of two Rails developers.

Molson Coors

Worked as a summer marketing representative for Molson Coors, specifically promoting the Rickard's brand. Organized and executed promotional events across Southern Ontario including the Toronto Festival of Beer, the Niagara Food & Wine Show, Ribfests and large golf tournaments. Generated new consumer interest in Molson Coors products through the effective set-up and execution of these events. Consistently received great feedback as a polite, energetic and knowledgeable rep.

Hey there, I'm Evan 👋🏻

Professionally, I've been on both sides of the table in the software world. For first 7 years of my career I was a startup founder and operator in B2B SaaS, primarily focused on edtech and sales/marketing tech. Since then, I've been learning and building in the world of venture capital and growth equity. The common thread in my career is my passion for technology and entrepreneurship.

I joined Georgian in 2019 to create and launch the CoLab, Georgian's nurture program for early-stage startups. My role expanded in 2020 to lead our business development and deal sourcing function overall, working closely with our data science team to evolve our deal sourcing engine. In 2021 I took on a new role to build out Georgian's fundraising and investor relations team. I'm fortunate to work closely with our existing and prospective investors, and I'm focused on taking Georgian's LP experience to the next level with a digital-first mindset.

Personally, I'm an athlete and sports fan (hockey, skiing, golf, MMA, you name it) and an amateur but enthusiastic musician. I also spend as much time outdoors hiking and camping as I possibly can.
