Whenever possible avoid all plastic, including recycled plastic.

Plastic is everywhere.
It's unavoidable. 

But there was a time when it didn't exist...
and I was not long ago.

Plastic is everywhere, and most of us don’t even think about it anymore.

It’s in our food packaging, water bottles, take-away cups, clothes, cosmetics, and even the air we breathe. It’s convenient, yes… but it also comes with a downside that we’re only starting to understand.

Over time, plastic breaks down into tiny pieces called microplastics (and even smaller nanoplastics). These particles can end up in our bodies through the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air around us.

And the scary part?
They don’t just pass through.

Research suggests that microplastics can be found in different parts of the body, and may build up in organs and tissues over time. Scientists have detected microplastics in places like the lungs, blood, and even the placenta. That doesn’t automatically mean “we’re doomed,” but it does raise important questions about long-term effects.

Plastic exposure isn’t only about the particles themselves either. Some plastics also contain chemicals that can interfere with hormones, like BPA and certain phthalates. These are sometimes called “endocrine disruptors,” because they can affect the body’s natural balance.

The truth is: we don’t have all the answers yet.
But we know enough to take it seriously.

The good news is, we can reduce exposure with small changes:
🍶 Using glass or stainless steel bottles
🦠 Avoiding heating food in plastic containers
🥗 Choosing fresh food more often than packaged food
🧼 Washing hands regularly (microplastics can collect in dust too)

We don’t need to be perfect. Plastic is part of modern life.
But awareness matters.

Because what we’re exposed to daily adds up, and protecting our health starts with understanding what we bring into our body.
