I've been sitting with a question lately.

We're living through a moment of unprecedented complexity. Polarization is intensifying. Climate progress is stalling. Inequity is deepening. Democracy is under pressure. Geopolitical order is fracturing. And AI is rewriting the rules faster than we can absorb them.

And yet we keep reaching for the same answers: develop more skills, build more capacity, run more programs.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵?

In the latest episode of On the Balcony, I sat down with Robert (Bob) J. Anderson and William A. (Bill) Adams — founders of the Leadership Circle  — alongside my colleague Judit Teichert.

What unfolded wasn't a presentation of a model. It was something more honest than that.

What struck me most was how openly Bob and Bill are sitting with the edges of their own thinking — decades into this work, still asking what this moment is calling for.

Bob put it plainly: 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 — 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 — 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆.

And what's emerging next isn't just a higher order of individual capability.

What a day at the Global Speakers Summit 2026 by Global Speakers Federation and Professional Speakers Australia - PSA !

There is something special about being in a room filled with people whose life’s work is to inspire, challenge, and transform others.

That was my experience today at Day 1 of the Global Speakers Summit 2026.

Yes, we explored the future and trends of the speaking profession, CSP sesssion to the Global Speakers Federation’s 2025–2030 strategy presented by Mike Handcock , President of Global Speakers Federation.  

But what stayed with me most were the moments between the sessions — the “corridor/ hallway” conversations, many quick catch ups between breaks, and the stories shared by speakers from around the world.

It was wonderful reconnecting with many dear friends, global speaking peers and meeting new speakers, who are shaping the future of our profession.

Grateful to be part of such a global community.

Two days. Sixteen leaders. One powerful leadership journey.

From Kuching to Penang — the Transformational Leadership journey continues.

This time, I had the privilege of working with an inspiring group of hospitality leaders from the Grande Dame of George Town — the historic 5-star luxury icon, @Eastern & Oriental Hotel ( Eastern & Oriental Berhad ) known affectionately as the E&O.

Over the two-day Transformational Leadership for Success program, we explored together:

• Self-awareness and emotional intelligence
• Leading with empathy and trust
• Coaching conversations and team development
• Practical leadership SEI Assessment tools 

But what made the experience truly meaningful was the group itself.

The openness.
The energy.
The laughter.
The honest conversations.

Leaders shared real challenges, supported one another, and reflected deeply on how they can grow — not just as managers, but as leaders who elevate others.

Many shared that the program helped them:

• better understand themselves as leaders
• strengthen empathy and communication
• build stronger and more trusting teams
• lead with both heart and clarity

This reflection below from one of the leaders beautifully captured the spirit of the past two days in Penang.

“Leadership is not only about achieving results…
it is about understanding people and building trust.”

What an amazing leadership development journey!

Congratulations to a cross-functional leadership team from a leading business events organisation for successfully completing this Leadership Development Journey — concluded meaningfully during Chap Goh Mei and the Ramadan period this week in Kuching, Sarawak.

It was a privilege to guide the team through a structured, progressive leadership roadmap over six months, designed to strengthen leadership capacity and competencies:

This morning at the Global Speakers Summit in Cairns, I was reminded how powerful our global speaking community truly is.

March 14 — also known as Pi Day (3.14) — has been chosen to celebrate Professional Speakers Celebration Day.

It also connects beautifully to the philosophy of Cavett Robert:

“Don’t worry about how we divide up the pie. There is enough for everybody.”

Those words still define the spirit of our profession today.
