Last Friday, I stole a few hours to do something I had been wanting to do for many years.

Attend a book fair.

I finally made it to the New Delhi World Book Fair, organised by the National Book Trust—and honestly, it felt like the Mahakumbh for book lovers.
📚 Books from every genre
📚 For every age group
📚 In multiple Indian and international languages

This year’s theme was dedicated to the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces, which added a deeper sense of pride and purpose to the entire experience.

What surprised me the most?
Entry was completely free
The arrangements and facilities were exceptionally well managed

My only regret?
I wish I had planned it better and brought my daughter and a few community members along. Also could have captured more pictures to share it over here.

But then again, there’s always a next time.

That’s the beauty of being intentional with your time.

I officially started my real YouTube journey during COVID in 2020—even though my channel existed since 2011.

For almost 8 years, I did nothing with it.

My first video actually went up in 2019, only because I needed to share my contest speech for feedback. No big plans. No creator mindset.

Everything changed in February 2020.

I had just travelled to the UK, and within days, the lockdown was announced.

I found myself alone in an apartment for nearly 11 months.

To stay sane.
To stay connected.
To feel human.
I started creating content on YouTube.

Like many others, I saw people begin their journeys around the same time.

But as life opened up again, most of them quit.

I didn’t.

A few days ago, we quietly crossed a milestone — 95,000+ views on this channel, though YouTube analytics says it's over 118k but I'm happy either way. 

Today, we have:

Multiple experiments across genres
A clear evolution of purpose

What began as book reviews, interviews, and vlogs has, for the last 3 years, been deeply focused on Public Speaking, Communication, and Storytelling.

Last Sunday was a beautiful reminder of why storytelling matters — especially when it begins early.

I had the privilege of being an external judge for a kids’ story writing competition conducted for school students.

What truly stayed with me wasn’t just their creativity or imagination, but the curiosity in their questions.

One question especially made me pause and smile:
 “Sir, why did you choose to become a storyteller?”

Questions like these show how deeply children observe and reflect — far beyond their years.

During the session, I also shared one of my all-time favourite stories from the Panchatantra — the story of Two Stones.

A simple tale, yet packed with timeless wisdom — and watching young minds connect the dots was incredibly fulfilling.

As a storytelling & communication coach, moments like these reaffirm my belief:
When children are encouraged to express, question, and narrate, we aren’t just building skills,  we are nurturing confidence, clarity, and character.

A samosa made me a winner.

Yes, you read that right. 😄

It was the 99th meeting of the Noida Extension Toastmasters Club, and the incredibly creative Sweta Sinha was the Table Topics Master.

Instead of routine prompts, she decided to innovate by using props and everyday objects to spark spontaneity.

While the last speaker was still speaking, I noticed her quietly move to the back of the room. She returned holding a triangular snack that needs no introduction in North India.

A samosa. 🥟

When my name was announced as the next speaker, I knew—this one was coming to me.

And right on cue, the room erupted:
 “Samosa… Samosa… Samosa!”

The topic was simple yet brilliant:
 👉 “Talk about samosa as if it’s the most loved thing in your life.”

For a split second, I wondered—how does she know? 😄
Jokes apart, it was pure fun comparing motivation to that irresistible craving for a samosa.

And the result?
 🏆 I won the Table Topics session.

The real lesson here isn’t about samosas.
It’s about the power of analogy.

Analogies help us:
Simplify complex ideas
Make messages relatable
Create instant emotional connection

That’s what makes communication memorable.

That was the core insight from my session “𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐍𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬” at Skilling on Saturdays this weekend.

Many professionals believe that if the data is accurate and the logic is sound, decisions should automatically follow.

But in reality, we’ve all experienced moments where we presented the right numbers, explained them well, and still saw no movement.

One of the primary reasons for this is what I refer to as the 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞.

When we know something deeply, we unconsciously assume others see what we see. They don’t.

During the session, we explored how storytelling bridges this gap by helping professionals:
📌Create context before diving into data
📌Share insight, not just information
📌Offer direction, not just conclusions

We worked with a simple yet powerful framework—CID (Context, Insight, Direction)—and applied it live to balance sheets, social data, water consumption statistics, and real professional scenarios. 

The shift was visible the moment participants stopped explaining numbers and started guiding decisions.

We also discussed three communication habits that immediately improve influence:
1️⃣Lead with meaning, not numbers
2️⃣Pause after key insights
3️⃣Focus on audience benefit, not personal credentials

And then something interesting happened.

Eye contact is confidence without words.

You can say all the right things,
Have the best slides,
Even hold a powerful position,
But if your eyes keep avoiding people, your message quietly loses strength.

We’ve all seen it.

People who suddenly look at the floor.
Fix their gaze on a screen.
Pretend to adjust papers.
Anything—except meet another human’s eyes.

A few years back, during my daughter’s parent–teacher meeting, the head teacher was presenting important updates.

The content was relevant.
The intent was sincere.

Yet something felt off.

Throughout the presentation, there was almost no eye contact with the parents.

Eyes stayed glued to notes and the projector.

As a listener, I noticed my engagement drop even though I wanted to listen.

And as a communication & storytelling coach, it made me pause.

Because eye contact is not about staring. It’s about connection.

It silently says: 
“I see you.”
“I’m present.”
“I stand by what I’m saying.”

When we avoid eye contact, the audience subconsciously reads:
Lack of confidence
Discomfort with authority
Or uncertainty in the message
Even when none of that is true.

In leadership, classrooms, boardrooms, and stages, eye contact is credibility before words even land.

This month, we celebrated:

Last week, I had the opportunity to conduct a Leadership Mindset Training for a startup team where many leaders were stepping into people management for the first time.

Most of them had:
- Never worked in a traditional corporate environment
- Grown purely through execution and delivery
- Suddenly found themselves responsible for people, not just tasks

And that’s where the struggle begins.

👉 Being great at doing doesn’t automatically make you effective at leading.

Over the years, I’ve seen this pattern repeat itself again and again. Now that 10 days of 2026, it would be quite evident even on LinkedIn.

Some people start with a huge burst of excitement esp. at the start of the year. 
They attend everything in the first week.
They practice daily for a few days.
They promise themselves, “This time I’ll give it my all.”

And then life happens.
Energy dips.
Momentum fades.

On the other hand, there are people who don’t look extraordinary at the start.

They show up quietly.
They practice for 10–15 minutes.
They take imperfect action.
They keep going even when motivation is low.
Week after week.

Fast forward a few months, and the difference is unmistakable.

Their confidence feels real.
Their clarity improves.
Their growth is steady, not forced.

What experience has taught me is this:

WordsMaya is an EdTech startup on a mission to empower college students and professionals with professional communication skills to make them employable and more effective at their jobs. WordsMaya works for employee learning and development for corporates as well as employability training for institutes with an online blended (app+trainer) model.

It all started with inspiration fueled by the passion to help students and professionals in their careers. With a team of interns in one-room office, we built the first version of WordsMaya and taught students 'English on WhatsApp'. The idea took off quickly, built an app with chat-interface with video content and a team of trainers to take practice sessions. Well before the pandemic, the idea of online learning was not main stream, so it look time to get acceptance. The patience and perseverance of I and my partner, Sandeep paid off when we got acceptance from AICTE, Pune University, colleges across India and corporates. The funding from IIM Calcutta innovation Park and angel investors fueled the product development and growth. So far, we have empowered 14000 learners with our full courses and have reached 50000 learners through various other initiatives. We have many awards including ‘Smart 50 Solutions to Transform India' and has been featured on national media several times.

I worked extensively on energy reduction techniques for industrial processes. I successfully helped a multi-disciplinary team progress through the full innovation cycle: ideation-development-IP creation-commercialization. I have filed several Indian and US patent applications and have number of international research publications to my credit. The best moments for me were the opportunity to pilot my patented idea for a large telecom company in the UK and presentation at a conference in Silicon Valley in front of top scientists and industry practitioners.

You won’t believe this… but I scored the lowest in all languages in my board exams.



And yet today, people assume I was always good with words.


This photo…

One of my oldest memories..
me in school, receiving an award for winning an elocution competition.
People say, “Oh, you must’ve been a natural speaker.”
But I wasn’t good at English.
Not at Marathi.
Not even at Hindi.
I struggled to form sentences.
I couldn’t write a decent speech to save my life.
In fact, I scored the lowest in all languages in my board exams.


The only thing I could do…
was deliver a speech someone else had written.
My teacher wrote every word.
My mother sat with me at night, helping me memorize it line by line.
And still… they pushed me to the stage.
Even when I was scared.
Even when I doubted myself.
And something magical happened each time:


The butterflies in my stomach…
The spotlight hitting my face…
The eyes of the audience locked on me…
The silence before that first word…
And then the applause.
That quiet rush of:
“I did it.”
Those tiny moments…
those speeches and then those certificates…
They built the confidence I stand on today.
Not because I was talented
but because someone believed in me before I believed in myself.


That’s why I push my Champions now.
To speak up. To be visible. To pitch their ideas.
Because you don’t need perfect words.
You don’t need flawless grammar.
You don’t need to be “naturally confident.”
You just need one moment of courage.

One stage.
One chance to show up.

🏆This weekend, Career Champions Club completed 4 years.



We marked this milestone with a 2-day REBOOT session to celebrate and to reflect about how we think about leadership.

This REBOOT was the culmination of a week-long “Leadership From Within” morning sessions series, inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings on fearlessness, self-belief, self-reliance, and conscious responsibility.

Across the week, one truth became very clear.
The real problem in corporate life isn’t just layoffs, unfair bosses, or broken systems.

It’s that too many capable people start believing small and slowly stop seeing themselves as leaders.

Over the last 4 years, Career Champions Club has evolved.

From just getting a job, to growing a career and now becoming a leader from within

This weekend’s REBOOT 2026 made that evolution visible.

We spoke about leadership beyond title or a future promotion but as a way of being.

How you think under pressure. How you take responsibility. How you influence, even without authority.

And then we did something powerful.
We created a Leadership Imprint canvas.

Each person was invited to reflect on two simple but deep questions:

What leadership change must I make in myself?
What leadership change will I create around me in teams, systems, or decisions?
What you see in the attached canvas is the intent.

Participants committing to:
removing fear from teams
bringing more innovation
questioning inefficient processes
leading with courage and fearlessness

This is what the Career CEO movement stands for.
Not complaining about the system.
Not waiting for someone else to fix it.

But fixing what we can influence starting with ourselves.
2026 is not about surviving corporate life.

It’s about thriving… and humanising it from the inside out.
