I'm the founder of Brighter Click, a digital marketing agency that works with start-ups and enterprise companies looking to build a go-to-market strategy for their business or specific product line. Our services include GTM planning, branding, creative strategy and production, pay media acquisition, and retention marketing.

Our track record speaks for itself: In 2022, we helped an eCommerce company triple its monthly revenue for two consecutive months, acquire $24 million in Series A funding, and scale internationally. We also helped a SaaS company scale 120% while reducing its CAC by 17.6%, and we generated $1.8 million in Q4 for another eCommerce company.

I started Brighter Click because I saw a huge gap in communication and strategy that most marketing agencies provide their clients. As a self-taught digital marketer, I set out to bridge that gap and built a team of experts to help me. We have a sports nutrition brand that was using tabs on the desktop product page to show Nutritional information. This was the second highest click, only behind the description. So naturally, we decided to test exposing it i.e. listing it out under the CTA.

Here's what happened:

+4.12% in Conversion Rate (Primary Goal)
+62.03% in Subscription Orders per Visitor
+6.02% in Add to Cart Rate

Something's been bothering me for a while in eCom. AI UGC.

Firstly, the term is a paradox. AI isn't a user. 

But most all of all, reviews apps have spent years trying to ensure that reviews are be genuine and can be trusted. 

To me, this feels like an icky activity from the drop shipping heyday 10 years ago.

I don't know all the in's and outs here, but I'm keen to here thoughts from brands doing this, not doing it, plus agency and tech folks.

A new client is about to sign for us today, but they're not happy already.

Here's why:

- After selling their previous business, they've entered into a new market.
- They consulted with an 'Agency' who couldn't do what they said they could do.
- So they moved to another 'Agency' who said they could do something, did half the job, pretended they had done the other half and shipped it.
- So they asked for a recommendation, and now after a lot of back and forth and clarification, we're close to a signature.

They don't really want to be working with us and paying our fees, but they have product that needs to be sold and no vehicle to sell it through.

As an agency, we've overpromised and underdelivered. 

It was horrible - for us and the client, but here's what we put in place to make sure this doesn't happen again:

- A firm 'We can't help' when it's an area of expertise that isn't in our day to day or would require significant upskilling.
- Sharing case studies and data on the performance of client sites when we've implemented the same or similar.
- Offering the chance for new potential clients to speak to existing clients.
- Having very open lines of communication and acting fast.

Am I sat here pontificating? In a sense yes. But the reason for me posting this is that most agency calls start off with trepidation, fear and sometimes anger towards agencies down to a small proportion of groups and individuals who claim to have the interests of clients at heart, that really just care about making a few quid.

If you're a UK eCom focused brand that either:

a) Started selling internationally last year
b) Are close to selling internationally

Only 2 knew what their gross profit margin was. 

Take the time to learn it or else giving money to people like me is on your way to hiding.

You know when you have a standing desk.
And you've been standing in the same spot for an hour.
And then you're on a sales call and you move your leg, and you nearly collapse?

Looks weird dunnit.

If you really wanted to know what new customers thought about buying from you, and you have 2 hours a month to spend on it, here's what you'd do.

1. Find the customers
Filter your most recent orders from first-time buyers and send them a quick personal email:

Hi ,
I’m [your name], the [your role] at [your company].
I saw you placed your first order yesterday, thank you so much!
I find it incredibly helpful hearing first-impressions straight from our new customers.
Would it be possible to schedule in a 15 minutes chat at a time that suits you?
In return I'll send over a small gift as a thank you for your help.
Grab a slot that suits: [insert your calendar link]
(or just reply with a time).
Thanks again for supporting our business.

2. Use this micro JTBD script
“Walk me through the second you realised you needed X.”
“Which competitors or alternatives did you consider?”
“What almost stopped you from paying?”
“Which screen or detail made you stall?”
“What finally pushed you over the line?”
“After ordering, what worried you?”
“Have you experienced buying this elsewhere (what was good/bad)?”
Remember: Record with an AI tool to get a transcript.

3. Identify the fears/anxieties and generate ideas to test
Read the transcript, highlight the most common themes.
“I wasn’t sure the colour would match my living room” - Add unfiltered customer photos right under the hero image.
“Delivery said 3-5 business days, I needed it by Friday, so I wasn't sure it would arrive” - Show a live ETA date and promise free express if you miss.
“The returns process looked like it might be a hassle, but I took a chance anyway” - 2 new badges on PDPs and Cart: “Includes prepaid returns label & instant refund on scan.”

4. Fix your messaging (everywhere)
Call them out as USPs
Badges on your PDPs.
One-liners in the cart and checkout
Reminders in the confirmation email.

5. Do it again next month...

And the month after. 

Imagine how much gold you'd unlock by spending 2 hours a month doing this rather than doom scrolling your Insta Feed.
