As General Counsel of Malbek and a long-time educator, author, and advocate, I sit at the intersection of law, technology, and learning. My work centers on translation. I take complex, fast-moving technologies and turn them into clear concepts, practical strategies, and informed decisions that legal professionals can actually use. Whether guiding teams through digital transformation or shaping how legal products are built and adopted, my focus is always on clarity over hype.

Teaching is core to how I operate. I regularly speak to diverse audiences, from military organizations to law firms and in-house legal departments, as well as large professional groups, on AI’s impact on legal work and the responsible, effective use of technology. Across these settings, my goal is the same: to help people understand not just what tools do, but how they change legal work, roles, and judgment.

That same educational mission runs through my writing and publishing. I am the author of The Legal Tech Ecosystem, a foundational guide to understanding the industry and its players, a co-author of CLM for Dummies, and the editor of the Handbook of Legal Tech. I also write regularly, serve as a columnist for Today’s General Counsel, and contribute through podcasts, webinars, and industry forums. Each platform is another way to make legal tech more accessible, grounded, and actionable.

AI Clauses Guide

Every time a lawyer asks an AI tool for case support, the tool delivers an answer with complete confidence. 

It formats the citation correctly. It names plausible parties. It describes a holding that tracks the legal issue perfectly. And sometimes, the case does not exist.

The challenge is not the fabricated citation you can catch with a quick database search.

Managing AI Hallucinations Guide

Most legal teams do evaluate AI vendors before signing. The problem is often the evaluation isn't thorough enough.

I wrote a guide that covers the parts of vendor evaluation that standard processes tend to skip:

And yes. In true LegalWeek fashion… we eventually found ourselves at Faces and Names.

Which honestly feels like the unofficial opening ceremony of the entire week.

“Who knows what she REALLY wants” and a lady in red. One company thought those words and a viral prebaked marketing landing page with a beautiful woman in red would drive views. Drive clicks. 

It did. But not in a good way. 

I won’t say who because it does not matter. And they don’t deserve the clicks. 

Here is my take- I know exactly what I want, tech that works, partners that respect me and not for women to be a prop in someones poorly executed marketing campaign. 
 
Here is what people I deeply respect have said: 

- “I would never trust them with my data. It’s insane that basically shows what they would do with it.”

- “Ugh so grossed out”

- “This is horrific r they that deaf!”

-“This life size woman was on their life size  booth poster and we had to look at it all day long. It was right across from our booth. It was so disturbing!! They still subscribe to the sex sells philosophy in this day and age?  What message is that sending??”

To add insult to insult a follow up email just landed in every attendees inbox featuring the same vacant eyes AI woman. 

To the industry - have fun and be cheeky, but not gross. 

To the marketing team and leadership do better! Clicks do not equal business. From someone who knows clicks. 

And to William White your clapback landing page was not doing what you thought it would.

About last night.
What. A. Legalweek! 

I am still a little speechless. Which, if you know me, is rare.

My heart is beyond full. My feet are completely demolished. And I cannot think of a better way to close out LegalWeek.

Huge thank you to the brilliant team at Glenmont Group for hosting an absolutely unforgettable evening. We are talking several hundred year old whiskey and more than $30,000 worth of cocktails that you simply cannot get anywhere else. One of those nights where you look around the room and realize you are surrounded by some of the smartest and most interesting people in legal tech.

And then to top it all off, we wrapped the night with the very first event I have thrown as part of Masters AI x TechnoCat.

A special shout out to Michael Potters and Mike Dalewitz for helping bring the vision to life and for building something truly special for this community.

About last night! A whirlwind of chaotic awesome in the best possible way only BEGINS to scratch the surface of the awesome Legalweek brought to day one in the stunning new venue!

From and awesome keynote by eli manning to a standing room only crowd of thousands to rocking the opening reception right from the Reveal booth 427 we started hot and only got hotter!

A great dinner with my HaystackID friends and a much needed family reunion at the NEW FACES AND NAMES (Tailor Public house) capped the evening in the best possible way!

Now to start it all over again for day 2!

There are not many things that will get me up early, in sparkles, and smiling on a LegalWeek morning.

AI for good is one of them. And Jacqueline Schafer of Clearbrief.ai is another!  

This morning kicked off with the incredible Jackie Schafer and the team at Clearbrief for their AI-Powered Pro Bono Day at the Practising Law Institute (PLI)  in NYC.

And honestly? I cannot imagine a better way to start the week.

A room full of lawyers actually using AI to help people who need it most. We dove straight into hands-on training across real pro bono work:

- Veterans case assessment
- Asylum matters
- Impact litigation and class actions

Then a fireside chat over lunch with Alicia C.  about how AI is showing up inside legal departments.

The best part is what happens this afternoon.

Jackie and I are closing out the day with guided breakout sessions and group discussions, rolling up our sleeves with the room to apply these tools to real legal problems.

This is the version of legal AI I care most about.

Not hype. Not fear. Not robots replacing lawyers.
Lawyers using powerful tools to expand access to justice.

If this is how LegalWeek begins, it is going to be one hell of a week. ✨

While everyone is running between panels and coffee lines, Reveal-Onna  quietly dropped something worth clocking. A new connector that lets legal teams collect data from Miro.

Quick highlights for the eDiscovery folks keeping score:

• No code collection from Miro
• Target specific boards or custodians
• In place preservation
• Search it alongside Slack, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Workspace, and Salesforce

Why it matters.

A ridiculous amount of real work now lives inside digital whiteboards. Strategy maps. Deal diagrams. Investigation timelines. Sticky notes lawyers pretend are not evidence.
