As General Counsel of Malbek and a long-time educator, author, and advocate, I sit at the intersection of law, technology, and learning. My work centers on translation. I take complex, fast-moving technologies and turn them into clear concepts, practical strategies, and informed decisions that legal professionals can actually use. Whether guiding teams through digital transformation or shaping how legal products are built and adopted, my focus is always on clarity over hype.

Teaching is core to how I operate. I regularly speak to diverse audiences, from military organizations to law firms and in-house legal departments, as well as large professional groups, on AI’s impact on legal work and the responsible, effective use of technology. Across these settings, my goal is the same: to help people understand not just what tools do, but how they change legal work, roles, and judgment.

That same educational mission runs through my writing and publishing. I am the author of The Legal Tech Ecosystem, a foundational guide to understanding the industry and its players, a co-author of CLM for Dummies, and the editor of the Handbook of Legal Tech. I also write regularly, serve as a columnist for Today’s General Counsel, and contribute through podcasts, webinars, and industry forums. Each platform is another way to make legal tech more accessible, grounded, and actionable.

Across every role, my aim is to equip people with the knowledge and confidence to engage with innovation thoughtfully and critically. Former lawyer, at MLT Digital my work revolves around blending AI-enhanced marketing strategies with deep legal expertise to drive growth and success for law firms. 

My journey in the legal field began at Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (now part of Dentons), which provided a solid foundation for my subsequent role at MLT, where I've been helping our excellent law firm clients succeed since 2010. 

My passion for digital engagement, evidenced by the success of my legal blogs ‘WardBlawg' and ‘Five Fantastic Lawyers’ (formerly YouBlawg), has been a driving force in my career. Pioneering in the online legal space, I grew its monthly visitors to 20k+ (over 1 million to date) and built a social media following of 50k+.

This early foray into digital marketing post-qualification as a lawyer in 2010 was relatively unheard of at the time. Joining my boss Stephen Moore who was also a former lawyer turned legal sector entrepreneur who had already been there and achieved success with other online businesses sparked my dedication to helping law firms harness the internet for lead generation.

I'm committed to empowering the very best lawyers to expand their reach and enhance their online presence.

In my role as Projects Director, I help align client needs with strategic objectives to achieve specific commercial goals, with a focus on delivering exceptional results and maximising ROI for our clients, all through an increasing level of innovative use of AI in SEO, PPC, project management and lead management.

Away from work, I love spending time with my family, Lucy and Rory, and play tennis (erstwhile Captain of Team 8 at our local club), golf, piano and guitar. My dogs, Rodger and Rizzo, are also regulars at our office, enjoying meeting our team and clients.
