I created Verdant Intelligence because it is easier to create realtime world aware AI then it is to get a damn job. 

I have not made a penny in four months. So I made a business to try to support myself and my family. I have skill, I can find people to help. I started my career homeless and scrappy. I’m not like most. 

I’ve built in public, to find allies and partners and possibly business to do. So I can feed my family. 

Ok professional network, let’s professional network. I need help. I’ve been saying that for a long time. I could use help getting introduced to the right people (leads not jobs), or if you have some other way, let me know. 

If creating realtime world aware AI interfaces that gives better information than billion dollar AI isn’t enough, then… what? Retire to homelessness?

Read and understand this. It is important. He is right. My AI and tech bills are virtually nonexistent for something as powerful as I have created. If you know what you are doing, it isn’t just affordable. If you just spin and spin and spin and spin and have agents and claude figure everything out for you, it will be slow and expensive. Understanding is a superpower. 

Good fast cheap: pick two. Engineers know this. A lot of people are chasing “good and fast” today and can’t afford to do so and don’t know how to get it so are getting neither.

Patience and intention and iteration. That is the way.

Climate Tech Needs GIS, Security (Identity and Permissions), and “AI” (LLMs). Systems thinking. Software building.

LLMs detect patterns in information that they get trained on. Some of what they detect may be "invisible" to us as humans. 

But RADAR, no matter how sophisticated, cannot "create" an airplane.

LLMs are to intelligence as RADAR is to airplanes.

They show us patterns in the data. They give us insights into their contours and shapes, but they do not create knowledge.

In understanding this, LLM driven task management gets easier. Expect less, give more. Draw the patterns you want continued, do not ask it to create novel patterns.

Knowing the right tools for the job increases the utility of LLMs enormously. 

I think this matters. It matters because we should be putting our energy and resources into "how can we better leverage this technology."

A lot of "LLM stuff" can be done cheaply, on the same machines that already run software today. Gating AI/ML tools behind a handful of service providers will not scale as well as enabling a bunch of companies to have finely-tuned machine-driven features.

LLMs are good at things we have never been able to program before. And that's amazing.

Verdant Intelligence

I’ve had fun hanging out on LinkedIn and building Verdant Intelligence in public for the last several months. I built it for myself, and then I decided to open it up for others. 

It’s been neat using it to keep up with the things that have happened across the country. It is neat to hear the perspectives of small sources. 

And it was cool that GrooveSeeker found the Portland Winter Light Festival for me, as well as two open mic nights for me to participate in, if I want. 

What’s the value? I enjoy life and I am as aware of anything as I want to be. My OSINT mind has a cool new telescope/microscope to play with. My life is enriched by artificial intelligence. I am not obligated to use it. It serves me.

Just magical having this kind of real-time AI. Real-world awareness. The kinds of apps that could be developed with this would be magical. The kinds of new analysis that could be done would be incredible, too.
