Historically, India always had work life balance.

Look at the Mahabharata. After sunset, everyone logged out. Clear boundaries, zero overtime.

Then the British showed up and somewhere in that era our work hours quietly got stretched like free labor elastic.

Two hundred years later, we’re still replying to emails at 11 pm as if it’s part of our cultural heritage.

If only we stuck to the original rule: after sunset, no fighting and absolutely no meetings.

It’s funny how professionalism disappears the minute a candidate says no.

Companies interview multiple people for one role and call it a standard process.

A candidate accepts a better offer and suddenly it becomes wasting everyone’s time.

The double standards in hiring are wild.

India is well ahead of Western countries. Last night reminded me why.


It was 8:30 PM. I wanted a haircut and beard trim. 

I opened Urban Company. A top rated barber was at my doorstep in 20 minutes.

I lived 10 years in Sydney. 

There is no scenario where this happens. 

You sometimes cannot get a same day appointment, forget same hour.

People miss the real point. 

India has built an ecosystem where labour is organised into ultra fast, hyper responsive services that the West cannot match.

Barbers, cleaners, technicians, carpenters. 

Everything arrives at your door with almost zero friction.

And yes, this does not mean the Urban Company barber is suddenly earning a lot more. 

But it does mean something else.

The Indian middle class now enjoys convenience that even wealthy people in the West do not get. 

You want something done and it happens in minutes.

This is India’s real strength. 

A huge skilled workforce, high service density, platforms that work well, and pricing that makes doorstep services a daily habit instead of a luxury.

The West can build apps. 
The West can spend money. 
But it cannot recreate this speed and availability.
India is not catching up anymore. In many ways, it is already ahead.

Gen Z standing up to toxic managers is a solid narrative, but come on. No manager is actually this insensitive to someone who just lost a family member. 

The conversation in this screenshot feels so exaggerated it almost reads like satire.

The whole GenZ versus toxic managers storyline is getting out of hand. 

Every day there is a new WhatsApp chat trying to paint corporate life as a dramatic battlefield, with managers written like cartoon villains.

Real workplaces have issues, but this kind of scripted outrage is not helping anyone.

At this rate, the only question we’ll have left is Dear AI, which job are you planning not to take?

Lands in Bengaluru. Gets a cab. Driver is downloading his courses. Wow. Bengaluru isn’t a city, it’s a scripted series.

Looks like someone was born in the wrong country!!!

A few years ago, I gave a career talk to around 50 people. Everyone listened, nodded, packed their bags, and left.

Nothing wrong with that, it’s what usually happens.

Except one person.
He waited until the room was empty, walked up, and said something very simple:
“I want to get back into tech. I just don’t know how.”

His career looked confusing on paper.
He spent 10 years in tech.
Then ten years in construction.
Then a move to Sydney in his 40s, with zero local experience.

Most people see that and think, “I have to start from the bottom again.”
But he didn’t panic.
He didn’t make excuses.
He asked for help and actually followed through.

So joined my career program.
He showed up to every session.
He put in the work, even when it felt strange or slow.

Bit by bit, his experience started to make sense.
Once his story was clear, writing the resume became easier.
The LinkedIn part fell into place after that.

For the first time in years, he looked “ready” on paper.

And the result:
Now he works at Atlassian Sydney on an engineering team.
All because he took one small step that most people never take, he asked for help when everyone else walked out of the room.

That tiny choice changed his whole life.

Apparently the real peak hours for career clarity in India are not 9 AM, but sometime between 11:00PM and 1 AM.

Got a message past midnight from someone who wanted help rewriting their resume.

I actually get a lot of people reaching out to me post midnight.

They’re tired, frustrated, irritated with their manager for making them stay late… and that’s when the “I need to fix my career” moment kicks in.

The funny part?
They rarely convert.

By morning, the frustration fades, the routine takes over, and the motivation to make a change quietly logs off.

But those midnight messages say a lot.

They capture the exact moment someone realizes they deserve better.

If you’re feeling that same pressure building up, don’t wait for another midnight meltdown.

Your career deserves attention even when you’re fully awake.

I used to think LinkedIn was supposed to be a “professional” network.

But then I noticed something.

In every company I worked at:

• The busiest Slack channels were the meme ones
• The longest email threads were jokes
• The funniest stuff always traveled the fastest

Somewhere along the way, it hit me.
People do not come online to be “professional.”
People come online to feel something.

Even on LinkedIn.

The sooner we accept that, the easier it becomes to create content people actually enjoy.

A public speaking trainer opened with this line, and it has stayed with me ever since.
Because most of us were raised on the opposite idea.

We were encouraged to fill pages, stretch answers, and show knowledge through length instead of clarity.

Write more.
Explain more.
Add more, even when the point was already clear.

Over time, that habit quietly shaped how many of us work.
Long emails. Long presentations. Long meetings.
Plenty of words, not enough clarity.

Unlearning that has been one of the most valuable shifts in my career.
Clarity is not about saying more.
It is about stopping the moment the message is understood.

In today’s workplace, brevity is not just efficiency.
It is leadership.

Dear Journalists - You’re not breaking news anymore. You’re just repackaging Instagram content with a salary.

People who keep calling every AI product a “wrapper” are outing themselves as the ones who do not understand how startups work.

Everyone wants to sound like a genius by throwing around the word “wrapper.”
But the truth is simple.

If your only skill is identifying an API call, you are not smart. You are unemployed with opinions.

Here is why the “wrapper police” sound clueless:

1. Users do not care about your technical purity.
They care about whether the product saves time, makes money, or reduces pain.

2. Building something people actually use is the real hard part.
If wrappers are so easy, go build one that people pay for. Go on.

3. Everything great is a wrapper on something.
Uber is a wrapper on GPS and payments.
Airbnb is a wrapper on listings and verification.
Stripe is a wrapper on banks.
Your insult is literally the definition of product.

4. Innovation moved from models to workflows.
The value today sits in stitching, sequencing, distribution, and UX. Not in sitting in a garage training a model no one needs.

5. Only people who have never shipped anything complain about wrappers.
Builders build. Critics tweet.

So yes, keep calling them wrappers.
Just know you are telling everyone you do not understand the market.
