What if you were thrown into deep waters before you knew how to swim 🏊

That’s what happened when I joined AbsolutData immediately after completing my B.E.

One night in 2013, during a data analysis project, our PM, Viplov, said,

“Guys, this doesn’t make sense. All the numbers I am getting, all the cross-tabs I am running, they don't add up.”

“Tumne quality check kiya ki nahi?” 
(Translation - “Have you been doing quality checks?”)

I replied, “yes, we’ve been doing that.”

Viplov said, ”okay, let me deep dive into this dataset and check again.”

🌍 Working on a big project for a beer company (owner of Budweiser), our goal was to standardize and combine customer data from 20 countries to find global growth opportunities.

Viplov ultimately found that we made a small mistake while merging all the datasets. 

A small error, but given the project's size, made the whole dataset useless.

This meant three weeks of effort was wasted.

It was a stressful moment, to say the least.

We informed the senior management and the client, who appreciated our honesty and acknowledged the complexity.

We rolled up our sleeves and started from scratch.

Working 12+ hour days, including weekends, we finally fixed the error and completed the task as intended.

This experience taught me a lot about the intricacies of data and the need for a good process.

In the end, the project was a big success, winning our team the Platinum Excellence award 🏆

Overall, my stint at AbsolutData was a great learning experience. 

✅ It helped me hone my data analysis skills in various tools and techniques like Segmentation, MS Excel, and SPSS, among others, while working with some amazing global brands.
