My Story

Three years ago, I moved from Holland to the Portuguese mountains to escape burnout.

It didn't work.

Working 8am-10pm. Phone at dinner. Snapping at my kids - I remained stuck in survival mode.

My chest was tight. Mind racing. I'd lost the ability to feel what my body was saying.

That wake-up call changed everything.

I stopped trying to push through my dysregulation and instead started treating through somatic work and regulation.

Now I help other sensitive and neurodiverse founders do the same.

This year, I’m focusing on 1 thing.

Not productivity.
Not discipline.
Not goals.

But instead: Gratitude.

But not the version that never really worked for me.

For years, I tried:

“I’m grateful for my apartment.”
“I’m grateful for my life.”

It never landed.

Recently, something clicked.

Gratitude isn’t about listing things.

It’s about seeing the miracle behind them.

This morning, I drank a coffee.

Not just:

“I’m grateful for this coffee.”

But this:

Somewhere in Peru, someone planted a bean.
Someone harvested it.
It traveled thousands of kilometers.
It was roasted, shipped, delivered.
Water heated up.
A cup warmed my hands.
And here I am.
That’s not normal.
That’s freaking miracle.

Nothing in my life feels “obvious” anymore once I really look.

That’s when gratitude stopped being a habit and started being a felt experience.

Last year, I attended a 4-day Tony Robbins event.

If I had to sum it all up in 1 sentence, it would be this:

EMOTION FOLLOWS MOTION.

Most people try to sound confident.

But their body is still stuck in nervous mode.
Slouched.
Shoulders down.
Barely breathing.

And then they wonder:

“Why don’t I sound confident?”

Because your body and your voice are connected.

If your posture says “I’m small,” your voice will sound small.

That’s why this habit matters:

Get into peak state before any important conversation or presentation.

Do something physical for 1–2 minutes:

- Put on a song you love
- Take a few deep breaths
- Lift your chest, roll your shoulders back
- Shake, jump, move

Your energy rises.
Your voice opens up.
Your words flow.

Because clarity isn’t just mental.

It’s physical.

Most people overcomplicate storytelling.

They think they need:

❌ A big life lesson
❌ A perfect structure
❌ A crazy, never-heard-before story

But the truth?

The best stories are tiny.
One moment.
One sentence.
One shift.

Here’s an example:

“My mentor once told me:
‘You don’t need to niche down.
Just do what you do — 10x louder.’

That line hit me.
I realized I didn’t need a new direction.
I just needed commitment.”

That’s a story.

No build-up.
No drama.
Just a real moment and what it taught you.

Try this:

✔️ Pick one moment (a sentence, a thought, a feeling)
✔️ Share the realization it gave you

That’s it.

Start small.
Start today.

Your best story is probably hiding in your last conversation.

We’ve all suffered through Death by PowerPoint.
Some of us have even caused it.

The lights go down.
Someone opens their deck.
And three minutes later… everyone’s checking their phones.

Here’s the thing:
Most presentations don’t fail because of you.
They fail because of your slides.

Too many words.
Too little story.
Zero connection.

After training hundreds of presenters, I’ve spotted the same mistakes again and again and they’re surprisingly easy to fix.

So I pulled together 5 simple rules to make your next presentation engaging, clear, and memorable.

When Mo Gawdat (former Google X CEO!) said this on a podcast, I literally hit pause.

This is a guy who built moonshot tech…
not someone you expect to talk about intuition or “feminine energy.”

But he wasn’t being woo-woo.

He was describing a shift from:

forcing → to listening
pushing → to sensing
overthinking → to knowing

And it made me realize:

I almost never do that.

So I tried something small.

After my morning meditation, I take 30 seconds to ask:

- What actually wants my attention today?
- Who should I reconnect with?
- What’s the one step that feels right, not just “productive”?

For someone who defaults to logic and grinding, this feels like a trust fall with myself.

And surprisingly… it works.

Ideas show up.
People come to mind.
My days feel less forced and more aligned.

So heading into next year, I want to make this a priority:

less pushing, more listening.
Less forcing, more intuition.

I hadn’t spoken Portuguese in years.

I wanted to back out.

But I didn’t.

Why?

Because I knew something important:

The things that scare us often turn into the best stories later.

So I said yes.

So, if you wanna have more interesting stories to tell, say yes to fear.

That awkward conversation.

That project you don’t feel ready for.

That thing you keep postponing.

If it makes you nervous, it’s not a signal to avoid it.

It’s a signal to lean in.

Because every time you say yes to fear, you’re not just living your life.

You’re creating your next great story.
