I am an industry award-winning Founder of de Novo Solutions a specialist SME digital boutique consultancy, based in Langstone, Newport, South Wales, focused upon the experience economy using Oracle Cloud and ServiceNow technologies adding significant value to our clients by re-imaging enterprise operations by delivering data driven personalised experiences over standardised processes. 

In November 2023 I was recognised for my entrepreneurial ventures by being awarded Great British Entrepreneur Awards Technology Entrepreneur Wales 2023.

Previously I was the former Founder and Chief Executive of Certus Solutions, the very first UK&I only dedicated implementation partner of Oracle SaaS Cloud applications, prior to a successful exit by acquisition to Accenture UK Ltd in May 2018. I remained post acquisition as a Managing Director in Accenture’s UK&I business operations until September 2020. 

At its peak Certus was an Oracle Platinum Partner, with a global presence employing 120 people over three continents, with over 35 customers and was Oracle’s HCM Cloud EMEA Specialised Partner of the Year 2017.  

Certus was recognised as the pioneer of Oracle Cloud across the UK&I and specifically into the UK Public Sector Central Government, undertaking five major implementations using its templated engage.gov blueprint for Shared Services business operations, whilst also amassing a blue-chip portfolio of several large multi-national clients, undertaking implementations in North American, Europe, Middle East, and AsiaPac (Singapore and Australia). 

As a serial entrepreneur I have now been directly involved in the start-up of four businesses, whilst my extensive experience and knowledge, specifically in UK Central Government back-office  Shared Services operations, has also enabled me to provide counsel and direction to the boards of international software houses and to several central government departments. I am equally renowned for my business development activities with over £85m professional services engagements personally closed and delivered over my career, whilst also being an active Business Angel Investor and Advisor providing advice & guidance to various small medium enterprises - a cause I very much champion.

I am a member of Institute of Directors (IoD) as well as a Fellow Certified IT Professional of the British Computing Society (FBCS CITP) and also hold a First Class Honours degree in Business Studies from Westminster University and a MBA from the Strathclyde Graduate Business School.

Long over due, as many years have passed since we last met in person and much water has flowed under the bridge. We have both been part of the #OraclePartner ecosystem for over 20 years and both of us are still here and standing! One thing is certain we both see good times ahead despite an incredibly challenging business environment.

What an amazing couple of days at #EliteBusinessLive . An amazing opportunity not only to be guest speaker today but also to just listen and learn from others. The level of support for the event from both Government and Industry involving so many #entrepreneurs from different markets was incredible.

Thanks to Scott English, CFE and the team for putting #EBL on, it takes an incredible amount of effort (and no doubt stress!) and also to Oli Barrett for marshalling the stage for two days. Support from Government - Blair McDougall Minister for Small Business, Industry and Enterprise and Emma Jones Small Business Commissioner and great opportunity to hear from the likes of Piers Linney MBE Louise Hill and Simon Woodroffe . 

Also great to hear from the next generation that are shaping markets, industries and no doubt the country in the future - Raw, Real and Relentless is an understatement. Six hours to go before the start of a new week! but what a fantastic weekend of #elitesport. The similarities of the sporting elite and what it really takes to make it in #business are numerous, especially as these days running a business of any shape or size honestly feels like a never-ending “combat sport”.

Fantastic to finish off watching the #6Nations at de Novo Solutions second Welsh home – Principality Stadium. Great to see real #Welsh grit and focus to take down Italy; a very different side to the one that started the competition. Congratulations to France for taking the Championship, but equally to England who put on a fantastic display in Paris.

Turning to #Formula1 great to see the young Kimi Antonelli and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team winning his first Grand Prix – without doubt the new rules are making it really exciting and both Mercedes and Scuderia Ferrari HP are back – also impressive is seeing Sir Lewis Hamilton back on the podium. Watchout there is so much more to come!

Finally, my beloved Manchester United, slowly and steadily putting the ball in the back of the net and points on scoreboard. Another step closer to Champions League football for next year. Rolling back the years at Old Trafford, finally playing the way a United team should play. 

But just like business in all of these sports there are people in numerous supporting roles – the mechanics, the coaches, the medical teams - the list is endless, but they are all absolutely critical for success. Team sports, like business is a team game – Always. 

Remember it may be one person that gets to collect the trophy, (and it may be you!) but it is always the team that puts you in that position as collectively everyone seeks #deliveryexcellence and to be the very best they can so we can all achieve the goals we set.

Really pleased to have welcomed Jessica Morden MP to de Novo Solutions last Friday to talk about our #Apprenticeship scheme and to meet out #apprentices . A great opportunity for everyone to engage with one another and to find out first hand the challenges as well as the opportunities. 

My thanks to Brogan Williams our first graduated apprentice through the University of South Wales and winner of the FinTech Awards Wales Apprentice of the Year 2025 for meeting with Jess and talking about his experiences of the scheme; and also to Natalie Sweeny and Claire Harris talking about our #NextGen programme of life skills we run internally.

Wales (and the UK) has to continually invest in the next generation if we are going to build an economy that can grow. It is really tough, but it is the right thing to do.

We were able to share news of our recent successes including our St David Award and FT1000 listing as well as give an insight into our thriving Graduate and Apprenticeship Programme.

#EliteBusinessLive is upon us and I am looking forward to spending a couple of days in London attending the event, but also taking to the stage on Thursday 12th to talk about how we scaled de Novo Solutions so quickly. Yes we use tech, but it is establishing an operating cadence into the #DNA with discipline and rigor that makes the difference.
