90% of jobs can be taught. Give people a chance.

The hiring world is full of contradictions.
We demand 3+ years of experience in tools that have only existed for 18 months.

We label entry-level jobs with requirements that look like mid-level careers.
We filter out people who could actually become the best hires-because they don’t “tick every box.”

Here’s the truth:

- Most skills can be learned on the job
- Most tools can be mastered in weeks
- Most experience is only gained once someone gives you a shot

What you can’t teach is character.
You can’t teach resilience.
You can’t teach curiosity.
You can’t teach integrity or grit.

Those are the things you should be hiring for.

Every “top performer” today started as someone who had no clue what they were doing. Someone once gave them a chance. That opportunity is what allowed them to become who they are now.

When companies gatekeep potential by clinging to outdated hiring criteria, they don’t just miss out on talent-they miss out on loyalty, fresh ideas, and long-term leaders.

If someone has the right values and the hunger to learn, invest in them. Train them. Mentor them. Watch how fast they rise.

Because the best teams aren’t built by finding unicorns. They’re built by betting on people’s potential.

Question is: are you hiring for perfection-or for possibility?

One thing I’ve learned after building multiple teams: the most valuable people are rarely the loudest.

They’re the ones who quietly upskill when no one’s watching.

You can’t teach that level of internal drive.
You can’t force someone to care about their growth more than the company requires.

That has to come from within.

And from a neuroscience perspective, people who self-educate build something incredibly powerful:
a plastic brain.

Every new skill, every book, every online course, it all strengthens their neural pathways for adaptability, problem - solving, and creative thinking.

Those traits compound.

They become faster learners.
Better decision-makers.
More resourceful under pressure.
And over time, they outgrow people who rely only on formal training.

When I hire, I look for curiosity.
Not credentials.
Not polished answers.
Curiosity.

Because someone who reads, experiments, builds, tinkers, or studies on their own time will eventually outpace almost everyone else.
They don’t wait to be told what to learn.
They choose it.

And that choice is what makes them dangerous, in the best way possible.

If you’re that person, keep going.
Even if no one notices right now.
Your effort is compounding quietly.
You’ll feel the gap before anyone else sees it.

20 Pieces of Advice I Wish I Knew at 20
For career. And for life.

If I could go back, I wouldn’t tell myself to “work harder” or “dream bigger.”
I’d tell myself the truth no one around me was saying.

That *discipline beats talent*.
That *mental health is strategy*.
That *freedom doesn’t come from money. it comes from control of time.*

At 20, I thought success was about acceleration.
Now I know it’s about direction.

I’ve learned that no one really knows what they’re doing. we’re all figuring it out in real time.
And that the people who seem furthest ahead are usually just the ones who started earlier and stuck with it longer.

Here’s what I wish I’d known sooner:

- No one’s coming to save you
- Most people mistake busyness for progress
- Your environment shapes your ambition
- Hard work matters less than clarity
- Being respected will take you further than being liked
- Your health is your leverage
- Money amplifies who you already are. not who you wish to be
- Systems beat motivation
- Learning to sell changes everything
- Your 20s are not a waiting room, they’re the gym for your future self

If you can internalise that early, you’ll spend less time doubting and more time building.

Because the truth is - your 20s aren’t a test run.
They’re the foundation.

Lay it with intention.

A billionaire just exposed the lies that keep people trapped.

John Caudwell went from nothing to building a $4 BILLION company.

Something most people only dream of, and something school will never teach you.

Below, I’ve written five secrets John told me. But as you read, ask yourself honestly... 

Are you doing these things? Because if not, you might be self-sabotaging.

	1.	Your health is your multiplier

John believes most people never get rich for one simple reason. They do not have the energy. Your VO2 max, your diet, your inflammation, your waistline. It all affects your clarity, your stamina, and your consistency. If you are tired or foggy, you will lose to someone who is not.

	2.	Fasting and fitness create an unfair advantage

He fasts for five days straight. He is 72 with the energy of someone in their 30s. His view is clear. You cannot build wealth if you are sick.

	3.	Fear of failure is fuel

This is something I also swear by. Every successful founder I have ever met has this. They do not fear failure. It excites them.

	4.	Radical thinking beats following rules

He removed emails from his company and it worked. Not because emails are bad. But because most people follow rules no one remembers creating. Radical thinking often begins with one question. Why are we doing this at all.

	5.	Turn your bad luck into good luck

He watched someone he loved have a stroke. I watched my dad die of a heart attack. Pain shapes you if you allow it. John believes every bit of bad luck contains a seed of good luck, but only if you are willing to look for it.

I never wanted to hire Jack.

In 2021, I needed a cameraman and an editor.

Jack couldn’t do either, but I took a risk.

Fast forward to today, and I couldn’t imagine building this without him.

I’ve won awards. Made headlines. Received thousands of messages of appreciation…

I get ALL the credit for what we’ve built...

But the truth is, none of this would be possible without the people behind the scenes.

Jack cares so deeply about the mission that he doesn’t care who gets the spotlight.

He wakes up every day thinking about how to help more people.

He leads the team and never complains. Always solving problems and lifting everyone around him.

He’s the reason Richard Branson and many others are backing us.

And that’s why, Jack’s no longer just part of the team…

He’s my co-founder, and more importantly, he’s a friend for life.
 
One I’d trust with anything.

There’s one big lesson I’ve learnt from Jack Whettingsteel…

Only hire people you’d happily work for if the roles were reversed.

And I’d be proud to work for Jack any day.

LinkedIn’s going to grill me for this…

But don’t bother with a pension.

And DEFINITELY don’t waste your life planning your retirement.

That mindset is a trap. It’s a system built for people who hate what they do.

For people who spend 40 years surviving a job, so they can hopefully enjoy life when they’re 77.

But if you’re building something you love… If your work gives you purpose and freedom....

You won’t care about a pension because you aren’t planning on retiring.

A pension is just a safety net for those who never built a life they actually want to live.

So unless you plan on grinding through decades of misery…

Stop thinking about how to exit life and start thinking about how to design a life you love.

Make money doing something that energises you. Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Build a system that funds your freedom long before you’re 77.

That’s the real goal. Not retirement.

There is only ONE way to be truly free:

Be your own boss, and work for yourself.

(Or somewhere you have equity).

Build a brand, not a business…

And do something you love.

This way, you’ll unlock the key to more money than you’ll ever need…

And also lifelong fulfilment.

Do something that matters to you, while building your own brand, and you’ll love what you do so much it won’t even feel like work.

This is the key.

Sometimes you just need to SHUT UP. 

I've never had ANY formal management training.

But this is one of the best things I self learned.

Whenever I used to make an investment in someone…

Whether it be it bring them into my business, or invest in them as an angel investor…

I always did this one thing.

I would go on a one hour hike, where I don't talk for the WHOLE hour.

I’d ask that person to tell me everything about them.

Their inner thoughts, everything they think about…

And I would not interrupt them.

This activity has been one of the most profound ways of getting to know someone.

In some cases, I have been told at the end of these walks that I know more about that person than their own wife or husband.

The thing is, when we have a normal conversation…

We’re so busy interjecting and throwing in our own opinions, that it actually takes people off track.

It stops from sharing deeply.

Just listening to someone intensely for an hour can transform your understanding of them, and therefore transform your relationship with them.

I suggest everyone tries it.

Spend one hour listening to someone in your team…

Your partner…

Or someone you want to hire.

You’ll be amazed what you'll discover when you keep your mouth shut.

A mortgage is a trap.

You’re essentially locking yourself in jail.

Let me explain:

You never truly own your home with a mortgage.

The bank owns it. You’re renting from them… with interest.

Miss a few payments and they’ll happily take "your" house and find a new tenant.

And unlike renting, which often comes with yearly contracts allowing you flexibility…

You’re trapped for often up to 3 decades.

Even if you manage to pay it off someday, you’re not free from hidden costs.

- Stamp duty
- Taxes
- Lawyer fees
- Maintenance
- Upgrades

These are constant costs that could be spent investing in yourself and your future.

But this isn’t about Rent vs Mortgage.

There are alternatives, and no one talks about them.

People tell me, “I don’t have the money to chase my dream,” but the truth is…

The money they need is locked in unnecessary costs they don’t need… (but they’re comfortable with.)

We’ve been brainwashed into thinking homeownership = success.

When I started my first business, I didn’t have a mortgage.

In fact, I didn’t even have a proper flat.

I slept in a friend's spare room for a time.

Another time, I bartered for an office and slept in it.

Was it comfortable? Not particularly.

But I was free, and I used that freedom to build my dream.

Today, I live in a nice home.

But I bought that house outright, because I could afford it.

There's no mortgage or debt involved.

My dad died thinking his “good debt” would secure our future.

It didn’t.

Mortgages are not the dream. Freedom is.

Let’s stop glorifying debt and start chasing freedom instead.

Every entrepreneur should read this.

Because what Anton Osika did is incredible.

And it’s something I’ve been telling everyone for years.

You don’t start a business with a product.

You launch it with the idea.

My number one rule of sales is: Sell the sizzle, not the steak.

And you don’t need a product to do that.

Anton has built the fastest-growing tech product in Europe.

But do you think he launched his business with this product?

No.

He launched… a snake game.

And a waitlist.

That’s it.

From that, he built hype. Gathered proof. And that gave him the green light to build the product.

30 years of business advice in one post. 

1. Business starts with a feeling, not an idea. 

You don’t need a unique idea. Start with what you truly enjoy and are willing to obsess over. This obsession becomes your advantage over competitors. 

2. Execute something simple first. 

Execution means finding the simplest first move to bring your business idea to life. In 2019, I started my personal brand with a £99 microphone my wife bought me for Christmas. Today, I have over 18 million followers, hundreds of millions of views per month, and a team of 50 people.

3. Experiment with revenue models. 

When you’re thinking about how to make money, think of it like an experiment.  I’ve had businesses that made money through advertising, licensing, franchising, product sales, and outcome-based contracts. Each one taught me something different.

4. Go global early

Many people don’t realise that they can go global early. When you do, you reduce risk because you’re not dependent on one market.

5. Lead with purpose. 

A lot of people get into business for the wrong reason. They say things like, ‘I want to make money,’ or, ‘I want to be successful.’ But that’s not a why, that’s an outcome.

Purpose is what makes people want to work with you and stay. It’s like gravity. It pulls the right people in.

6. Pre-sell instead of raising money. 

If you think you need investment, ask yourself, have you sold it yet? Most people chase investors when what they really need is a customer.

7. Big companies are easier to run.

It’s easier to run a big company than a small one. When your business is too small, you are the only one who can run it.

8. Do remarkable things

Marketing isn’t shouting, it’s doing something that others want to talk about. I bought a staircase for £15,000, and we put a doorbell on it to give people a place to share their dreams and goals. 

Within days, the staircase went viral. This was not because we chased PR, but because the act itself was remarkable. 

Do something that means something. 

9. Ditch business plans and use a mind map

Business plans can be too rigid. I’ve seen companies with huge plans stick to them and die.

Your biggest opportunities usually appear after you start, not before. A mind map leaves you nimble and free to explore where the business can go.

10. Find a co-founder​​ 

It’s more fun to build with others. I’d rather own 50% of a business I love than 100% of one that makes me miserable. When you find the right co-founder, 1 + 1 = 11.

11. Build a business you don’t want to sell

Selling a company is a dream for a lot of entrepreneurs. I’ve done it a few times. If you really want to sell your company, the best way to sell a business is to build one you’d never part with.

12. Freedom is the ultimate ROI

Everyone says they want success, but success without freedom is just another kind of prison. The point of business isn’t more money. It’s autonomy and more control over what, when, and with whom you work.

I don’t want to be posting about this stuff, I just want to fix the education system but this new CRAZY out of touch government bill hurts that effort and I need your help to stop it please! 

160,000+ of you signed the petition to withdraw the awful “Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill” recently and huge thank you for of all signing to get it stoppped! It’s a great start.

Now, it’s going to Parliament for debate on 1 December. We need to push again please 🙏🏻

Right now, the most powerful thing you can do is EMAIL YOUR MP. Tell them your concerns about the Bill and ask them to be there for the debate. 

Petitions show we care, but emails from constituents are what MPs actually act on.

Many MPs still don’t realise how sweeping the Bill is (many I have spoken to who voted for it haven’t even actually read it past the title!!) and so many don’t how it impacts ordinary families. 

They need to hear it from the people it affects: you, me, and every parent in England and Wales.

Here’s what’s at stake:

A mandatory digital identifier for every child, linking health, education and welfare data across agencies, overriding confidentiality and leaving families with no way to opt out, no control no way to correct errors. 

It lowers the threshold for data sharing, allowing authorities to share children’s information based on vague welfare judgements rather than significant harm.
It grants open-ended powers to local authorities, to demand “any other information”, without defined limits or oversight!

It targets home-educated children with intrusive oversight and new reporting demands, despite no evidence justifying this approach and without any support for families forced into home education.

It undermines parental rights and SEND protections, shifting decision-making power away from families who understand their children’s needs best.

And all of this is being pushed without evidence, proper consultation, or a meaningful risk assessment. 
I support strong safeguarding for every child. 

But this Bill doesn’t fix the problems it claims to solve. 

Instead it creates new risks to privacy, equality and family autonomy. This bill starts at home education level but if this skeleton bill is past they will continue to take control over your children and how YOU parent them. The broken system will decide what’s best for your child, not you!!’

Our children don’t get a voice in Parliament. We do. So let’s fight back against this dangerous bill together 

Take action now: 

Email your MP and make sure they hear your concerns before 1 December!

You NEED to follow them to succeed.

School needs to stop punishing students for copying.

In real life, copying is good. In fact, it's one of the smartest things you can do.

Take from my friend Timothy Armoo  

He COPIED a business model he'd seen in America...

Built it. And then sold it for millions at 27.

It's small acts like these that separate those who become successful and those who don't.

And that's why I asked Timothy Armoo to write this week's newsletter on Dream Mail.

Here are 6 tips from Timo to build a successful business:

1. Copying is the smartest thing you can do.

Timo's never had an original idea. His million-dollar business was something he saw in the U.S. and brought to the UK.

The hard part isn't building. It's finding demand. When you copy what already works and adapt it, you're stacking the odds in your favour.

→ Ask yourself: What's working in another market that I could bring to mine?

2. Document the small wins

Every empire started with one customer. Timo wishes he'd framed his first contract and photographed his early clients.

Small wins create momentum. So celebrate them. You'll regret it if you don't.

3. You ≠ Your Business

Timo kept a note on his desk: "You are not your business."

When it wins, you're not a genius. When it struggles, you're not a failure. Take breaks without guilt. Your health and relationships matter more than any deal.

4. Timing beats talent

Timo's business (Fanbytes) worked because influencer marketing was exploding. Within 8 months of selling, multiple competitors got acquired too.

→ Ask: "Why now?" If you can't answer it, rethink the idea.

5. Stay in your circle of competence

Timo failed at 7 businesses. Every failure had the same root cause: he built outside his understanding. Marketing and service businesses are his natural zone. That's where his wins come from.

→ Ask yourself: What am I better at than most people? What feels like play to me but work to others?

6. It's not that deep

Every entrepreneur has bad days. Whether it's losing a customer or getting rejected. It's what makes building a business so great.

When something goes wrong, remember: you'll survive.

Timo did something I really like. He trained himself to say out loud: "It's not that deep." It keeps you calm, clear-headed, and moving forward.

Like it’s some kind of reward.

But no matter how nicely they try to phrase it. Just know….

Your credit score is not there to help you.

20 years ago, when I left England, the credit scoring system barely existed.

Now, you can barely live without one.

Whether it’s to have a roof over your head or even just order a pizza.

You’re ENCOURAGED to take out a loan.

These private companies act like they’re doing you a favour.

But they’ve gamified financial control.

The more debt you carry, the more useful you are to them.

And that’s why, without debt, they make you jump through hoops just to live a normal life.

If I were Prime Minister, I’d ban the credit rating system tomorrow.

Because it punishes the exact people who need the most help.

Do we actually want to fix the UK’s economy?

Because yesterday’s budget announcement said otherwise.

Right now, the system punishes the wrong people…

All while protecting the right ones.

Taxes keep rising for the individuals and small businesses.

(The people who need the most support.)

The ones taking the big risks, and in the long term, bring the biggest contribution to the economy.

Meanwhile…

The global giants are STILL slipping through loopholes and dodging their fair share the same way they have for decades.

We don’t need frozen thresholds. We don’t need watered-down incentives.

What we need is a system that backs first-time founders.

That will fix the economy.

Right now, the smallest contributors are carrying the heaviest load and the ones with the most resources… pay the least.

It’s backwards.

If we want real change:
→ Reward the risk-takers
→ Back the builders
→ And make sure everyone contributes fairly

Why do I invest £100 into some dreamers...

And £250,000 into others?

Well, sometimes the only thing stopping someone is proof that their idea works.

A first customer and a little faith is all that person needs!

In fact, if I gave them hundreds of thousands it would probably do more harm to their dream than good.

Other times, like with Skillstore, the idea is proven.

They have a clear vision. A clear team. Everything is ready...

They just need real capital to go fast and far.

I’ve learned that not every business needs investment.

In fact, 98% don’t.

But too many founders have been brainwashed by Shark Tank and Dragons’ Den that they need money to win. When really… they need belief, momentum, and a little help.

That’s why I talk more about my £100 investments than the £250,000 ones.

Because most of the time, that’s the amount that unlocks someone’s dream.

But today, I want to say something about the bigger one.

In addition, I only made it because I had the unwavering belief and support of my partner.

I actually think the people you surround yourself with especially your life partner will determine if you success or not. 

Hence today I was happy to buy my wife a new car for Christmas to try and show just how much i appreciate her and her support of me when I was broke and nobody. 

She believed in me and has made me happy for the last 23 years. Deep forever love needs to be talked about more as a way to live.

Grass isn’t greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it.
