I’m honestly disgusted by the amount of scammers on LinkedIn right now.

It breaks my heart to say this but:

Yesterday, a friend from my ex-job called me.


We joined the company at the same time.
He’s still there, promoted last year, but with just a 10% salary hike.

And every time he calls, he says the same thing:
"I don’t understand how to switch careers or land better roles."

Here’s what I keep telling him (and what most professionals still don’t get):

1️⃣ Visibility > Intelligence (in today’s market)
According to a study by LinkedIn & MIT Sloan, professionals with higher online visibility earn 15–25% more than peers with equal or greater skill levels.
Why? 
Because visibility builds trust before a resume ever lands on the table.

In simple terms, the world rewards what it can see.

You could be brilliant, but if no one knows about it, you’re invisible.
And invisible people don’t get opportunities.
So start building your personal brand because it's not just for online service providers - it's literally from anybody who wants to earn money.

-> Post about what you’re learning, not just what you’ve mastered.
-> Break down one insight from your daily work every week.
-> Comment thoughtfully on leaders in your industry, get seen where decisions are made.

2️⃣ Network like your salary depends on it. Because it does.
Your next job, client, or opportunity will probably come through a conversation, not a job portal.

How to start (without sounding desperate):
- Make a list of 10 people you admire in your field.
- Send a short message: 
“Hey [name], been following your work on X. Would love to learn from your journey, open to a quick chat this week?”
- Join niche WhatsApp or Slack groups where your peers hang out. Share value there.

Do that consistently for 90 days and your visibility and network will open doors your resume never could.

Moral:
The person who is seen gets paid more than the person who is smart but silent.
You don’t need to be the loudest.
You just need to be visible to the right people.

And for the longest time, I thought going viral was about the right hooks, timing, or engagement hacks.

I followed every “rule.”

Posted 3x a week.

Used proven templates.

Commented daily.

It worked, kind of.

People saw my content, but they didn’t remember it.

Then I started looking deeper at what made certain posts take off, not just mine, but others’.

And I realized something most creators completely miss:

People don’t just read your post. They feel your presence.

It’s not just the writing.

It’s how your pictures shows you.

How your words sound like you.

How your post feels like a human, not a headline.

When I stopped treating content like a task

and started showing up like a person 

looking into the camera, writing how I talk,

sharing my face, not just my thoughts

I have a shitty social life.


There, I said it.
My business makes up about 95% of my actual life.

The rest is me sleeping or watching TV with my husband.
I don’t call my friends.
I ignore their calls 70% of the time.
And when I visit home once a month… I carry my laptop.

I keep telling myself I’ll change it,
but honestly, I don’t want to.

Because I like how this life feels.
Yet deep down, I also know… it’s not healthy.

It’s weird, right?
To love your work this much and still know it’s kind of consuming you.
I’ve stopped forcing the idea of work-life balance.

Maybe some of us are just built differently,
the ones whose version of “balance” is going all-in on what we love,
and recharging quietly, not socially.

Still, it makes me wonder…
Is this passion or obsession?
And does it even matter if you’re happy living this way?

5 career lessons I wish I knew earlier (backed by experience):

1️⃣ Visibility beats intelligence, every time.
I’ve seen it, lived it, tested it.
You can be brilliant at what you do, but if no one knows it, you’ll be underpaid and overlooked.
Stop hiding behind your work.
Start building your personal brand: 
talk about your process, your wins, your insights.
In 2026, the most visible person wins, not the smartest one.

2️⃣ Top-of-funnel content brings likes, not leads.
I fell into this trap myself.
Views were up, dopamine was high, but sales were flat.
Your business needs viral posts but it also needs nurturing content that builds trust and shifts perspective.
Create content not just for the reach but for retention too. 

3️⃣ Rejection is a skill.
One of my DM managers once blocked me after being mocked for her English by a “coach.” 
That day I realised, most teams are trained to send messages, not handle rejection.
Teach your team (and yourself) to hear 100 NOs and keep going.
Every NO is a filter, not a failure.

4️⃣ Theory doesn’t build businesses. Execution does.
 My ex-coach taught me this the hard way- hours of theory, zero accountability.
That’s why I built programs that prioritise action, not consumption.
If you’re not implementing what you learn every week, you’re not learning, you’re hoarding information.

5️⃣ Build something that’ll survive without the algorithm.
Australia’s social media ban for under 16s might sound irrelevant, but it’s a preview of the future.
Algorithms will tighten. Platforms will change.
So ask yourself, if Instagram/LinkedIn disappeared tomorrow, would your business survive?
Start building owned assets now: email list, WhatsApp community, loyal base.

You don’t need perfect content, perfect English, or perfect timing.
You just need to keep showing up, keep executing, and keep being seen.
Because the internet doesn’t reward the best, it rewards the most consistent.

I used to think being busy meant I was doing great.


The fuller my calendar, the more “in demand” I felt.

Calls back-to-back. DMs to reply to. Offers to tweak.

I’d end the day exhausted but secretly proud 

like my tiredness was proof I was doing something right!

But it wasn’t.

It was just proof that I was operating from fear.

Fear of slowing down.

Fear of missing out.

Fear that if I stopped for a day, everything I built would fall apart.

And the more I ran on that loop,

the less creative I became.

My ideas felt forced. My energy felt scattered.

I wasn’t growing my business anymore;

I was managing my burnout.

The truth is, you can’t build something sustainable from a place of survival.

Busy doesn’t mean successful.

It just means overbooked and under-connected.

Now I measure growth differently 

by how calm I feel while things are growing.

By how clearly I can think without rushing.

By how inspired I feel between client calls.

Because peace isn’t the reward for success.

It’s the foundation for it.

I used to chase numbers.

Views. Likes. Follower counts.

Every time a post hit a few thousand impressions, I’d feel like I was winning.
Every time it didn’t, I’d question my entire strategy.

But after coaching 100+ creators and building brands across niches, I realised something most of us avoid admitting,
viral posts don’t build businesses.

Community and impact do.

I’ve seen creators hit 5 million views and make $80.

And I’ve seen creators with under 1,000 followers make consistent $3,000 months.

The difference?
One is chasing validation.

Here’s what building for revenue (not vanity) actually looks like:

Month 1–3: The Foundation Phase

→ Posted 4–5 times a week with intention, not feelings.
→ Every post ended with a simple CTA: “Work with me along with clear next steps”
→ Built real relationships through DMs, not cold outreach.
→ Started attracting warm leads and made my first few thousand dollars.

It is literally a masterclass in turning brand problems into attention assets.

Here are the real lessons every marketer should steal:
1. Antoine’s Perfume: 
The perfume brand releases an ad that the public calls sexist, 
and the team is split on what to do.
Instead of defending it or pulling it down, 
Emily turns the criticism into a conversation by asking the audience a simple question: 
“Do you find it sexy or sexist?”
The debate explodes online, and the brand earns massive attention rather than shame.

Lesson: When the narrative turns against you, invite the audience in. Conversation beats crisis.

2. Hästens Beds – transforming a product into an experience
Hästens needs a memorable idea in an oversaturated luxury market.
Emily places their beds across iconic Paris locations and invites people to literally “sleep with” the brand.
The city-wide stunt becomes instantly Instagrammable and positions Hästens as an aspirational experience.

Lesson: When your product looks like everyone else’s, win with creativity, not features.

3. Champère – embracing and reframing perception
Champère is seen as cheap and confusing, especially because it’s a sprayable champagne.
Emily reframes it as a playful party drink and launches a social challenge: “How do you pop your top?”
User-generated content takes over, and the brand finally gets a clear identity.

Lesson: If you can’t fight a perception, reframe it in your favor.

4. Ami Paris – emotional marketing on a small budget

Ami Paris wants more awareness and a romantic angle.
Emily creates guerrilla love moments - surprise proposals, public declarations, live emotional activations.

The brand gets huge organic buzz without massive media spend.

Lesson: Emotion scales faster and cheaper than ad budgets.

Yesterday I was talking to an ex-colleague and he told me


“I want to start GATE entrance coaching.”

So I asked him about his marketing plans.
He said,
“I’ll start with print media…
then list my centre on JustDial…
and once some students join,
I’ll create IG and LinkedIn accounts to post their feedback.”

I told him this entire route is dead.

If he really wants trust, reach, and credibility,
he needs to build his personal brand first.

To which he replied:
“I’m an IIT graduate.
I don’t need social media to market myself.”

So I asked him one simple question:
Then why does Deepinder Goyal need it?

The founder of a multi-billion-dollar company.
An IIT graduate himself.
A leader with nothing left to “prove.”

And yet:
he shows up online.
He shares his story.
His thoughts.
His perspectives.
His face.

Because in today’s world:
If people can’t SEE you,
they assume you don’t exist.

Visibility = Trust
Trust = Influence
Influence = Income

And that’s exactly why showing up is no longer optional but a necessity. 

So if you’re still telling yourself “I’m camera shy”…
remember this:
Your fear isn’t stopping the world.
It’s only stopping you from entering the race.

But I was the most careless founder ever.

In the chaos of scaling, hiring, and churning content non-stop,
I started trusting people jaise mere aankhon pe patti bandhi ho.

For 6 straight months, I paid ₹1,20,000 in salaries every month...

If your profile doesn’t say who you help, why it matters, and why you are different, people scroll past.

Banner: offer + social proof + clear CTA.

2) Content pillars that map to demand: 

Pick 2–3 pillars where your skills meet market demand. 
Example: AI → Productivity → Entrepreneurship.
Under each pillar list 5–7 subtopics so you never run out of ideas.

3) Post mix:
3–4 posts a week:
 • 2 educational posts (actionable, useful)
 • 2 storytelling/transformation posts (human, relatable)

Story template: 
short journey → lesson → simple tactical step → question.

4) Hooks, utility, proof - every post needs these three

→ Hook (short, curiosity + outcome) 
→ Utility (prompt, framework, cheat) 
→ proof (screenshot, result, calendar).

Give people a 10-second win.

Block time daily to comment and connect:
 Phase 1 broad visibility (comment widely)
 Phase 2 warm-up (engagement before posting)
 Phase 3 post support (like + 3 comments from you)
 Phase 4 reply to every comment (build reciprocity)

 Comments are mini-posts, use them to leverage other audiences.


6) Convert attention into income - optimize your "featured" section

Use 1 or 3 featured offers (main offer, mid/up-sell, free lead magnet). 
Thumbnails convert so make them clear, actionable, and specific. 
Build an email list to own your audience.

This is the repeatable system: profile → content → engagement → monetization.

Do that consistently and you don’t chase virality, you manufacture it.

 • A 3-step fix for a common problem

2) Validate fast- test what people actually pay for
Use your posts to collect data: which topics get saves, DMs, and invites?
No ads. No spending. 
Just content + simple offers (free calls, mini consults, lead magnets).

If something converts, double down. 
If not- pivot. 

Pro tip: Offer a free resource (Notion template, 10-page guide, Loom walkthrough). Share the link in the post to remove friction.

3) Turn attention into income- 3 monetization paths
Pick one, start small, then expand:
• Done-for-you (DFY) - services (ghostwriting, strategy). Fastest way to earn and get case studies.
 • Do-it-with-you (DIWY) - coaching, group programs, workshops. Higher ticket, more scale.
 • Digital products-  templates, mini-courses, guides. Build once, sell many times.

Start with DFY to get proof → productize what works → launch DIWY offers.

Bonus: Build an email list from day one. Own your audience. Email converts when algorithms don’t.

Simple roadmap for week 1
Day 1: Publish 3 posts about 1 small skill.
Day 3: Create a one-page lead magnet (free guide).
Day 5: Run 1 free discovery call (price-test your offer).
Day 7: Open 1 DFY slot and price it.

Repeat. Iterate. Scale.

I did this without a website, without big connections, and it turned into $78K in one year.

Meta, TikTok, YouTube - all off-limits for kids.

And while the internet is split- some calling it “necessary for mental health,” others “too extreme”, it made me pause and think about what this means for the next generation of creators, marketers, and founders.

If you look closely, this ban isn’t just about kids, it’s a loud message to all of us running online businesses:
The social era is maturing.

Platforms are tightening. Algorithms are unpredictable. 
Regulations are coming.

And the ones who’ll thrive won’t just be content creators.
They’ll be the ones who can build trust, visibility, and community, outside of borrowed platforms.

Because if tomorrow, your Instagram/LinkedIn disappeared or your audience’s access got restricted, could your business still stand?

Here’s what I take away from this move:
1️⃣ Start building owned assets today.
 Your email list, WhatsApp broadcast, community, anything that’s yours, not the platform’s.
2️⃣ Focus on depth, not just reach.
 The days of chasing followers are numbered. It’s about nurturing 100 true fans who actually buy from you.
3️⃣ Think long-term brand, not short-term trends.
 Trends die with the next algorithm change. A personal brand outlives it.

Australia may be banning kids from social media,
but maybe it’s time adults learned to detach a little too.

Here’s what I’m curious to know:
 👉 If tomorrow, Instagram and LinkedIn restricted half your audience, what’s your Plan B to keep your business growing?

If I had to rebuild my LinkedIn from scratch today,

I wouldn’t obsess over algorithms or aesthetics.

I’d focus on humans. 

Because people remember how you made them feel, not how optimized your content calendar was.

Here’s what I’d actually do:

1️⃣ Start with clarity: what do I want to be known for? If you’re not sure, the internet won’t be either.

2️⃣ Write every single day, not to post, but to think better. 90% won’t see the light of day, but that 10% will build my voice.

3️⃣ Leave thoughtful comments like I’m having real conversations, not networking.

4️⃣ DM people I admire, not to pitch, but to connect. “Hey, I loved what you said about X, it really stuck with me.” That’s it.

5️⃣ Talk about my offer casually, like a friend would, no scripts, no manipulation.

6️⃣ Analyze what people respond to emotionally not just what gets likes.

7️⃣ Reuse ideas that worked once. People forget. You shouldn’t.

8️⃣ Support small creators, because visibility is not a solo game.

9️⃣ Track conversations started, not impressions earned.

10️⃣ And most importantly, I’d keep showing up like I belong here, even on the days I don’t feel like it.

Because that’s the real secret:

You don’t rebuild your brand by being perfect.

You rebuild it by being present.

For each pillar, list 5–7 ideas.
For AI, it would be:
• prompts
• tools
• news
• tutorials
• personal insights

Now you have weeks of content pre-baked.
No overthinking.
No burnout.
Just a system that feeds itself.

4️⃣ One post can change your business when built correctly.
We would craft a post with:
🔥 a curiosity-heavy hook
🔥 a zero-fluff body
🔥 a screenshot visual that proves the promise
🔥 a copy-paste solution readers can use instantly

Because it will not waste the reader’s time.
