I had a call with a Forbes council member and Fortune 50 leader yesterday, and the wildest part wasn’t his title, it was how a man with that much authority could still sit there with the kind of curiosity most people lose by 30.

We were easily a generation apart.

And yet the man showed up with a mind that wasn’t clinging to “how things used to be” the way so many senior leaders do when the world starts shifting faster than their comfort.

Maybe it made sense when he told me his mother was one of those women who wasn’t waiting for permission to lead back when the words feminism and equity were still being treated like foreign objects.
You grow up watching that kind of fire, you don’t become rigid, you become receptive.

We were talking about LinkedIn and how he wanted to start showing up consistently in January.
A very corporate-timed decision.
Clean quarter. Fresh year.

And that’s exactly where I couldn’t keep my mouth shut.

Because the world doesn’t care about your corporate calendars.
Attention doesn’t wait for Q1.
Momentum isn’t seasonal.

He said everyone is slowing down for the holidays.
I said that’s precisely why he shouldn’t.

While the US and Europe wrap themselves in Christmas lights and collective slowdown, the Middle East is awake and building.
South Asia is awake.
Africa is awake.
Half the world is still doing business like it’s any other day, and people forget that because they live in timelines curated by proximity instead of geography.

This idea that December is a dead month is one of the most expensive lies the West sold to the rest of us.

People are watching, buying and planning their 2026 budgets right now.
And the noise on LinkedIn is the quietest it will ever be.

You want visibility.
You want authority.
You want to show up without competing with every Tom, Dick, and “7-figure coach”.
This is the damn window.

January is crowded. It's noisy.
It is everybody suddenly waking up from their December slumber trying to sprint with legs they haven’t stretched in 30 days.
January is the stampede.

Buuuttt...
December is where the smart ones build quietly, consistently, intentionally, and walk into Q1 already warmed up instead of trying to thaw themselves out of holiday-induced inertia.

And honestly, it blows my mind how many founders still think momentum is something you switch on like a lamp.

I’m also wondering if I’ll cry at the airport like a dramatic Bollywood heroine.
Could go either way.

Domestic solo travel feels easy now.
International solo feels like I’m leveling up as a human.

But I’m going.
Because if I can survive the shit I’ve survived
I can survive Dubai immigration.

Anyway
if you’ve been to Dubai
where are the good cafes?
The quiet ones. The pretty ones.
The ones where a girl can sit with her coffee and pretend she has her entire life figured out.

I’m 30. Indian. Running a business as a first gen entrepreneur.

This year surprised me.
In a good way.

The first half felt like one of those rollercoasters you agree to and then immediately regret when it starts moving.
Nothing terrible.

Two years ago, if you had told me I’d be working with Harvard and Wharton grads… I’d have laughed and gone back to crying into my overpriced coffee.

Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 executives?
Yeah right. I was just trying to survive my own damn life back then.

But that’s the thing about life.

It sneaks up on you when you’re done trying to “look successful” and you finally choose to build something real.

LinkedIn wasn’t supposed to be my gold mine.
It was supposed to be the one place I could write without feeling small.

I showed up when I had nothing left to lose.

Just a former journalist with a laptop, trauma-induced sharpness, and a very real need to rebuild her life from the ground up.

And somehow, showing up with honesty turned into something bigger.

I wasn’t a nepo-baby, but mine will be.

And every time that sentence leaves my mouth, it feels like both a promise and a quiet prayer, because I didn’t come from a family that clipped my wings, I came from parents who were doing their best inside a world that didn’t give them the luxury of pausing to dream, yet they still made room for mine.

Growing up in a middle class Indian home, you get a whole syllabus of money beliefs.

Most of them outdated.
Some of them harmless.
A few of them straight up poisonous.

Except… safety isn’t real when someone else controls your paycheck.

One recession.
One restructuring.
One manager with a God complex.

Real safety comes from assets you build, not positions you hold.

Skills.
Reputation.
Network.

Tell that to every first-gen founder who started with Google, grit, and a second-hand laptop.

Or to every kid who learnt a high-income skill on YouTube because coaching fees were insane.

Money helps.
But resourcefulness is the real capital.

Start tiny.
Test fast.
Scale when proof shows up.

Nah.

Most of the genuinely wealthy folks I know are frugal in the most unsexy ways.

They don’t upgrade cars every year.
They don’t buy gold to impress relatives.
They don't care if their phone is 3 models old.

Real wealth is time.
Energy.
Options.

The ability to say no without checking your bank balance first.

It’s not the lack of money that keeps us stuck.
It’s the conditioning we inherit.

Be safe.
Don’t risk.
Don’t think big.
Don’t outgrow the script.

What’s one money belief you had to unlearn to actually grow?

I haven’t responded to a single comment on my last post.

Before you cancel me, hear me out.

It’s genuinely wild how close to 80% of those comments were just bad regurgitations of the post itself.

The irony is hard to miss.

The post was about how AI will never replace good copywriting. Or more accurately, how it will never replace thinking. And then the comments fill up with people very obviously outsourcing their thinking to the exact thing being criticised.


To see people using AI to comment is the lowest of the lows…Whatttt?! 

I’m sure my reach is taking a hit by not replying. LinkedIn would prefer a nice little back-and-forth with people who haven’t actually read, felt, or thought about what they’re responding to.

But I’m still not doing it.

If the choice is between momentum and integrity, I’ll take the quieter option every time.

I’d rather have fewer real conversations than dozens of synthetic ones.

Apparently having no ego and being kind is an AI trait now.

Had someone in my DMs tell me I “sound like an AI.”

Why? Because…
I asked a normal question.
I ended with… a question.
I didn’t react emotionally when they tried to provoke me.

And the best one…
I replied too fast.

According to them, if you’re calm, direct, and not spiraling in your DMs, you must be a bot.

I genuinely sat there thinking
Did I miss something?

But no.
Not a single thing they listed was even remotely logical.

Since when did:
Curiosity = AI
Respect = AI
Not arguing = AI
Typing fast = AI

Make it make sense.

A lot of people are so used to chaotic, ego-driven communication that when someone talks like an actual grounded adult it feels unfamiliar.

And unfamiliar feels… artificial.

If anything, their response just revealed something deeper:

People project the stories they already believe.

And if their story is “people online aren’t real,” then even a perfectly normal conversation becomes suspicious.

Oh, and the part that truly killed me??

“Unless you make mistakes in the next message, don’t send one.”

So now my typos are the proof of my humanity….

Yep…WiLd. (You see what I did there? lol) 

I’m honestly amused.

Because if being self-aware, kind, and emotionally steady gets you labeled AI
then we’re in trouble.

Maybe the bar for “human” has dropped so low that normalcy looks suspicious.

I don’t know.
But I’m curious.
