I watched this happen to my grandmother who ultimately died from loneliness and isolation.

It’s also why I encourage my elderly mother to stay connected with her community several times a week… and she absolutely thrives.

Conversations that challenge your perspective expand cognitive networks.

Isolation and echo chambers shrink them.

The good news? Curiosity can be retrained.

Your brain listens to how you live.

If you feed it repetition, it learns to conserve energy.
If you feed it novelty, it learns to stay alert.

Their brains show stronger communication between the networks that control focus, attention and memory.
