Taking everything I have learned working with a wide range of people from a breadth of industries over the last 10 years, I am focussed on helping businesses make the most of their product ideas and find direction to drive their projects. By facilitating design sprints, discovery sessions, and collaborative design workshops I aim to deliver purposeful, frictionless user experiences for my clients and their customers.

Biotaware

My role at Biotaware was multifaceted.

As Head of Design, it was my responsibility to ensure only the highest-quality output reached our stakeholders - both internally and externally - and that we as a team were continually pushing to improve our approach to designing and creating products.

All of our work not only satisfied our user’s needs but also continually improved patient outcomes. I acted as the voice of the user, the voice of the stakeholder, and voice of the designer at all times through each and every project; design challenges covered everything from print right through to multi-device solutions in the app, connected digital health, and wellness arenas.

Bringing experience from previous design roles and my previous career in communication management I had been able to challenge existing processes - for teamwork, for design, and for development - and introduce new ways of approaching a challenge to help engage the team to act more effectively and efficiently as a single entity. 

Upon joining Biotaware, one of my primary responsibilities was to reinvigorate an existing, almost-to-market product which had been through previous rounds of investment, design, and development. Working from a blueprint set out the previous year, it was my challenge to:

- distill project work which had previously been undertaken with a view to refining it into a deliverable MVP within three months
- act as Product Owner, working on behalf of the stakeholders and users to inform the product plan
- act as Project Manager to map the team’s work streams to ensure the flow from feature description through to development was smooth and the critical path was followed
- act as the leading designer of content, user experience, and user interfaces for the product

As Lead Designer for Buying Butler, I joined an experienced Principle Designer and a team of designer/developers. It was my responsibility to ensure that our output met the highest standards. I strived to help the team deliver:

- a progressive, contextually-aware approach to designing products and services
- consistently excellent experiences for each of our user-facing products
- the highest-quality visuals for all of our interfaces and digital materials
- strong brand representation throughout our work
- production-quality code that meets the rigours of industry standards

I spent a large proportion of my time away from production, working with the Product Owner and Principle Developer to look at our user experience strategy, end-to-end product journeys, sprint and workflow planning, and team futures.

Along with the day-to-day product work and strategic conversation, I provided mentoring and motivation for the team to enable them to do their best work. I also aimed to bring in new tools, processes, and techniques to make sure our work was efficient, effective and gave results that met our brief to the letter. This progression was captured through sprint reviews, retrospective sessions, and whiteboard workshops where we explored new product concepts.

At UNiDAYS, I was responsible for creating end-to-end user journeys for our web and app platforms. Starting with need discovery and user flows, moving into wireframes, and then into visual design; I looked after every step of the process to get our new features from inception through to release.

I am responsible for supporting the marketing team in delivering key customer messages through multiple digital and static channels. My work encompasses our entire online estate, the UI/UX design, visual design for websites and our customer-facing products.

Life is hard enough without having to muddle through on your own, working out how to 'get it all done' when in actual fact you don't need to get even half of that stuff 'done' and can still be really bloody successful at what you do.
