Most people underestimate how tough Sales Development is - high targets, relentless rejection and very little coaching

Having been the first EMEA SDR at Zuora in 2012 with no playbook and only a phone and a list, I know this first‑hand

Over the past decade, I’ve grown from SDR to leadership, AE and CS roles, but one passion has stayed constant: empowering SDRs to find their voice and enjoy prospecting and selling

In 2017, I founded HappySelling.io to help SDRs build confidence, hit results and stay long enough to thrive

Since then, I’ve:

• Coached 3,500+ reps worldwide and helped teams generate £20M+ in closed‑won pipeline

• Trained organisations through HappySelling.io workshops

• Hosted the SDR DiscoCall Podcast, sharing real conversations with SDRs

A big thank you to Ana Ribeiro from Amplemarket for a really useful enablement session today!

As someone who’s now actively using Amplemarket in my own prospecting, the timing couldn’t have been better

Ana walked through how I’m currently using the platform, what’s working, and where small tweaks could make a big difference

The biggest takeaway for me was around handling replies, not just sending sequences

We spent time building a proper “not interested” reply flow

In short, when someone replies with a no, they can be added into a tailored follow-up sequence automatically, instead of that conversation dying or sitting in a manual backlog

That alone saves a huge amount of time and helps make sure leads don’t fall through the cracks, while still keeping things thoughtful and human

I’ve already booked a follow-up session to go deeper on building sequences properly, and I’m genuinely enjoying using the platform and seeing solid early results.

It's both our first day back for 2026

My Son's first day back at School 

My first day back creating a world of HappySeller's

It was nice to disconnect from the "Matrix" (Inboxes, DMs, LinkedIn, creating content and algorithms) for a few weeks

There was both a twinge of anxiety last night for us

He wasn't able to get to sleep/ me, will I wake up on time for the school run?/ who's my first coaching session? 😅 

I told him, the more you force yourself to get to sleep, the harder it is to fall asleep

I told myself, I'm not looking to start tomorrow at 100% - more 75% slow start

All will be fine...

We woke up on time, had good sleep and fresh this morning 🌄 

For me the next few days are more planning, catching up, not as many meetings, and by end of week, I'll be at 100% again

I shared this advice with him for School too

It takes a little while to get back into a rhythm, but if we take it at pace, rather than rush - We can be more intentional and aligned on how we start
