Diane is a senior adviser to private equity portfolio companies.  She helps investors and portcos to deliver robust growth against value creation plans - including via post-merger integration.  She has a sweet spot in Tech-enabled B2B Services including Professional Services in the UK and EMEA.

Her experience includes:

- pre-deal MDD and post-deal operating reviews of portcos - eg for Blackstone, Mercia, Silverfleet, LDC, Rockpool, Foresight
- rapid recovery of post-merger integration and transformation, ahead of an IPO (backed by TPG)
- commercial risk analysis for a PE portco, triggering an exit via secondary buyout (backed by ICG)
- recovery of an off-shore proposition, re-positioning for growth ahead of a merger
- design and global rollout of a post-merger data integration model.

▪️Leading the recovery of a £1bn NHS Trust’s lab project post-dispute, bringing together investors, clinicians, scientists, suppliers, and engineers to co-create a viable solution.
▪️Delivering commercial risk analysis that identified a -70% risk to a target exit valuation for a PE-backed £100m B2B services firm, unlocking a £1Bn exit in under three months.
▪️Repositioning a struggling new BPO offshore (India) proposition for profitable growth, delivering 50% savings to the client in a new £3m contract while also tripling profit margins.
▪️Rolling out a post-merger Sales/Marketing/Finance integration model for a £1Bn global professional services firm across 30 offices in 20 countries, deployed to 4,000+ staff.

DHL Supply Chain

Primary finance contact for the UK Primark account comprising an 800k sq. ft. warehousing operation, the national transport operation and a recycling unit with revenues of circa £50 million.

Leading a team of finance professionals to produce weekly management accounts, responsibility for period end processes and driving the annual customer and DHL budget process as well as management of the payroll function. 

Creation of the periodic operational and finance review pack with presentation to the customer, balance sheet and open book reconciliations and working closely with the site management teams to ensure accuracy of cost and KPI data capture and ensure all financial process and controls are in place and adhered to

Major Achievements:
	Development of the finance team to empower them to take on further responsibility.  Coaching to allow team members to develop skills and become more involved in weekly and month end processes.
	Enhancement of reporting models to include detailed analysis and a summary page to highlight headline results.  Customising reports to customer requirements.
	Completed the DHL Finance Academy in 2014/15 which enabled a wider understanding of the DHL business and a deeper understanding of commercial principles to support contract growth.

Assisted in preparation for two internal audits and assisted in the divisions central finance trading processes.

Finance Manager - Secondment

Primary finance contact for two open book warehouse contracts and a closed book transport contract which included production of the weekly management accounts information.

Responsible for period end processes of the three contracts as well as periodic Balance Sheet reconciliations.  

Production of DHL and customer annual budgets and re-forecasts as well as management accounts packs for review at monthly meetings with customers.  

Responsible for debt management. 

Major Achievements:
	Development of new management accounts packs that enhanced the trust between DHL and the customers.
	Reduction in outstanding debt on P&G account from £1.2M to a position of zero debt on the contract.
	Improved adherence to DHL accounting policies to achieve an audit grading of 1 on an OCR on the P&G Reading contract.

Once upon a time in the distribution and supply chain logistics arm of a major retailer not so far away, there was a hard-working operational leadership team who worked in the sprawling metropolis of Leicestershire.  

Every day, the operational leadership team were run ragged managing an extremely busy and growing retail operation at the same time as trying to understand their KPIs, CTS, CPU and all the other really important acronyms!  

Then one day, a beautiful Financial Controller joined the organisation and assessed that the operational leadership team didn’t have the financial knowledge, data or Excel spreadsheets that they needed to really get into the financial detail of the operation.  Because of that, the Financial Controller utilised his finance business partnering expertise and spent time educating the operational leaders in KPI and financial reporting and helped them understand what the reports and data is telling them.  Because of that, the Financial Controller spent lots of time with the operational leaders reviewing performance from the previous week and period as well as spending time working in the operation itself to understand the source of the data that he was producing.  

Until finally, the operational leadership team truly understood their finances and were able to react and make decisions based on this data which enhanced their KPIs and cost per unit and started challenging back to the Financial Controller as to why they were performing to such a high level…
