The fractional model is having a moment. And I love that. 🍾 

One of the things I'm most proud of is the number of people I've personally introduced to the fractional and consulting model in real estate and beyond. 

I've watched people I've mentored go on to build practices, find their niche, and serve clients at a high level. That's a leadership belief and a core purpose of my starting Here2Elevate. We elevate others.

Happy International Women’s Day…who wouldn’t take an official date on the calendar and celebrate just exactly what that means? 

The courage of those before us whether bold or whispered, has brought each of us to this moment of reflection and triumph. And, undone work. 

For me, I didn’t  build here2elevate LLC  because someone handed me a playbook. I built it because I spent 35+ years watching talented women lead from every seat in the room. But there were other rooms. And often times, those doors were locked. 

I detoured my path many times  because of real or perceived gender driven realities. My value, my contributions weren’t considered. I wasn’t even in the room where they would have been. 

Here’s what I know to be true now that I have sat in all the seats and have little to prove to the world outside my family, women don’t need permission to lead. They need the right structure, the right support, and leaders around them willing to compete, not cater and certainly not exclude. 

The beauty is that today and forward is an opportunity for all women to be fully realized. 

I love seeing women finding their place, fulfilling their potential, spreading their wings. 

Every day I work with CEOs and business owners who are rethinking how their organizations run. The best ones? They’re not asking “who fits the mold.” They’re asking “who moves the mission forward.” They celebrate competence, execution and humanity. 

And that question on who not what changes everything.

To the women building, stretching, frontiering, whatever that word is to you that represents the hard things that you have done to get you where you are, keep elevating today and every day…keep going. I celebrate you, we all celebrate you. Nice job.  I’m honored to know so many of you. 

Remember, those rooms are changing because you’re in them and because you are leaving those doors open behind you.

Staring into my water glass and thinking about the conversations today, and luckily, there was a win-win with most. But it also reminded me that partnering with the wrong client does me no good. Or them.

And to that end, most businesses don't hire the wrong consultant by accident. They just skipped a few honest conversations about the real issues.  

So, before you search LinkedIn, ask for referrals, or book a discovery call, there are five questions worth sitting with first.

1. What problem are we actually trying to solve? Not the symptom. The root. "We need better communication" is a symptom. "Our leadership team avoids accountability conversations, and it's costing us talent" is a problem. The more specific you are, the easier it is to screen for the right fit.

2. Are we looking for a guide, a builder, or an operator? A consultant can diagnose and advise. A fractional executive can lead and execute. A coach can develop your people. These are not the same thing, and many providers blur the lines. Know which one you actually need before you start the conversation.

3. Where are we in the business lifecycle? Early-stage chaos needs someone comfortable building from scratch. Mid-growth companies need someone who can install a process without killing momentum. A turnaround situation needs a completely different profile. The right consultant for a 10-person startup may be the wrong one for a 200-person operation.

4. Do we need industry expertise or operator expertise? Both matter, but they are not equal depending on your situation. Sometimes you need someone who has lived in your world. Other times, you need someone who has solved the type of problem you have, regardless of industry. Be honest about which one matters more right now.

5. Are we ready to do the work, or are we looking for someone to do it for us? This one is underrated. The best consulting relationships are partnerships. If your team is not bought in, if leadership is not willing to change, or if you are expecting a consultant to fix people who do not want to be fixed, you will waste the engagement and the budget. 

The consultant you hire can only move as fast as your organization is willing to go. (And we go fast!)

When these five questions have clear answers, the right provider becomes obvious. When they do not, any provider will feel like the wrong fit.

The mirror always comes before the match.

The world is shifting fast. AI is transforming how we work. The political and economic landscape keeps moving. 

And most teams? They’re being asked to keep up without anyone actually helping them do it.

That’s a leadership problem.

Agility is one of the most underrated qualities a team can have right now. Not agility as a buzzword. Agility as a practice. 

The ability to look at a problem, drop the old playbook, and solve for it differently.

But here’s the scoop. You can’t expect your people to be agile if they’re operating from fear.

Fear of AI replacing them. Fear of getting it wrong. Fear of a landscape that feels unpredictable. 

That fear doesn’t go away with a memo or a town hall. It goes away with focused, intentional change management.

So what does that actually look like?

It looks like putting AI practically in your team’s hands. Not theoretically. Not in a presentation deck. In their actual day-to-day work. 

Let them experiment. Let them break things. Let them see that this is a tool, not a threat.

It looks like training that builds real capability, not just checks a box.

It looks like leaders who model flexibility and reward creative problem-solving instead of clinging to “how we’ve always done it.”

The organizations that will lead through this era aren’t the ones with the most resources. 

They’re the ones with teams that can adapt, think critically, and move with confidence through uncertainty.

That’s not luck. That’s leadership.

If you’re not actively investing in how your team navigates change, you’re already behind.

We are doing some incredible things with our clients around AI and innovation, teaching them about change in their organizations and the importance of it, but also about how to face their fear of the unknown.

I faced my fears. I’m met Claude this past weekend. And I built a BI dashboard that connected five of my tech technologies in less than 10 hours.

One thing to do tomorrow that will change how you lead.

Pull up your org chart. Not the one on your website. The real one. The one that shows who actually owns what.

Now ask yourself one question: How many of those seats have your name in them?

If the answer is more than one, you are the bottleneck.

And it is not about headcount. It is about having the right people in the right seats, with the competence, commitment, and capacity to own their outcomes.

Most founders I work with are brilliant operators. They built something real. But they never stopped filling gaps with themselves. 

And now their team is waiting on them for decisions that should have been made three levels down.

Tomorrow, try this...

Open your accountability chart and circle every seat you are sitting in beyond your primary role. For each one, write down the name of someone on your team who could own it with the right support. 

Then have one honest conversation about making that shift.

You do not need to hire five people. You need to empower the ones you already have.

That is what it means to lead differently. Not doing more. Letting go of the right things so your people can rise.

Vision guides. People build. Execution wins.

I coach executives across multiple industries.
