Programmatic SEO can quietly destroy your agency website.

Skale learned this the hard way.

They have a good website design, but a couple of things they've tested before failed. 

Skale pretended they had offices in multiple cities.

They create the same pages for multiple US / Canada cities, changing only the city in the title, h1-h2, and text, targeting keywords like "{city} SEO agency"

It looks like this is easy for Google to detect whether it's true.

I don't know the exact reason why it's happened. Some websites have such pages and rank well with them. I have 2 hypotheses:

- The effort you make to create such pages matters (how much they are unique, what's the share of duplicate content in %, etc).
- whether you have at least some local signals that show that you have offices in specific areas (the best thing is an entity on Google Maps, if not, you have to be at least in the US, to create such pages).

You have to be careful. Here is an example how attackers can steal access to your LinkedIn account.

When you visit this link you see the page the looks very similar to LinkedIn official page and you forced to verify your identity.

They want you to enter your login credentials. 

The most interesting part that LinkedIn allowed these attackers to create a company page with a LinkedIn brand name, so they called LinkedIn security.

LinkedIn hope you'll find a way to block it and prevent future attacks of this type.

The reason ChatGPT traffic dropped in December has nothing to do with seasonality. It’s a product decision:

1/ I noticed that ChatGPT tests the new design of mentions/citations. 

For some of my chats, I see a link that opens a sidebar, and citations are visible only in this sidebar. In the past, I could see them immediately.

2/ I noticed that ChatGPT uses fewer citations and performs fewer real-time searches than before December.

And this is the most interesting point, because this may be a sign that OpenAI builds its own index. The more pages they collect and cache, the less they have to rely on Google SERP for basic searches, where they don't need fresh info.

P.S. I know that traffic from AI chats doesn't answer all the questions, because many people see brands on AI chats and then look for a brand in Google. 

However, this is the most accurate data we have now. That's why we've started with this report, not a prompt tracking tool.

I've spent $37k on LinkedIn thought leadership ads and generated 1M+ impressions in Q4-2025 for Sitechecker. Here is what I learned:

1/ The reason I’ve decided to test them is simple → the content that sells best gets little organic reach. 

The most viral types of posts are: news, lead magnets, spicy opinions, and checklists. You still need to publish them to be known, build connections and trust, but it’s just not enough if you want to reach your entire audience.

2/ You need more posts to understand what works.

You have to post about your product/service under different angles with different hooks and images to understand what triggers your audience.

I created 15 posts during 3 months, and I add a new post each time we deploy a new important feature, or I get an interesting insight from the sales call.

3/ When you find a topic that performs well, create more posts around it.

When I found that first post about Semrush alternative works so well, I focused my attention on looking for more gaps around this topic. 

That's how the following posts were born: user complaints in Semrush's subreddit, consequences of Semrush's acquisition by Adobe, and the big update of Semrush pricing. All of them have one core idea -> it's time to switch to Sitechecker.

4/ The design of your posts matters a lot.

Almost all of my posts contain both a link to the website and a call-to-action to ask for a trial, if the reader is interested. Some people like to explore the tool themselves, and some want a demo. It helps to target both types.

5/ I underestimated how deep I should dive into it to make it work.

I still feel that I can get much more from it via:
- experimenting with bids, budgets, and campaign objectives;
- creating more audience-based email lists and predictive audiences;
- publishing more posts in different formats;
- adding campaigns for more countries.

Now I understand how to merge organic posting and paid ads into one system.

The organic posts build credibility and basic awareness, but you are limited by LinkedIn a lot, and most importantly, you often get likes and engagement from different people than you target.

The best thing about Reddit marketing is that most of your competitors can't wait long enough to get the first results, and they leave or don't even start.

The Favikon team is different. 

- They built a subreddit for 4 months with just faith that it's worth it.
- They know how cumulative effects work in growing organic channels. 

Only today, after 4 months, they get the 1st thread ranked in Google's top 10, by a high-intent keyword "influencer marketing campaigns".

Note that this tread was created 4 months ago!

- You don't know how much you have to wait to be ranked.
- You don't know whether your threads will rank at all, because there are tons of threads that target the same keywords.

But you know that if you are:

1/ being willing to stay at a distance for at least a year
2/ building a community, where your customers and any user from your ICP can find the best answers to their questions

Then, you increase your chances x10:

1/ to build a scalable organic channel
2/ your competitors are afraid to invest in
2/ that will send your traffic from Google search, Reddit search, and AI chats

If you are doing SEO / AEO for a B2B SaaS brand and your customer still doesn't have a user poll on a signup or book a demo form, you are in trouble:

1/ Reddit added rel="noreferrer ugc" attribute to all external links in Aug 2025.

So, all traffic from Reddit is attributed to direct / none now.  You can fix this issue only if your link on Reddit has its own UTM mark. 

2/ The user journey became multistep even more than before. 

The user can find you in AI chat and then go to Google to check what digital presence and reviews your brand has. 

The rise of brand searches and direct traffic may be attributed to different channels. 

It means there is a risk that you won't be able to communicate the value you've created without the user poll about where people heard about the brand the first time.

Moreover, this user poll data is a goldmine for you as an SEO strategist, if you have already adapted to the new reality and are doing for your customers everything, not only on-page SEO: Reddit, Medium, YouTube, etc.

How do you track your SEO / AEO impact for customers now?

A small reminder that LinkedIn saves only the last 365 days of your post analytics. If you are serious about understanding which posts performed the best this year, export them and add them to Google Drive.

4 reasons why I resurrected /r/sitechecker branded subreddit after 8 years of sleep and made a huge bet on it in 2026...

1/ Brands try to build communities on Slack, FB, and Circle, but it rarely works. 

People don't want +1 platform to get notifications from. Reddit already created the best forum infrastructure ever. It's the 7th most-visited website in the world.
I know most of our audience is there.

2/ This branded subreddit has only 45 members for now, but 4 days ago I published a post about our AI chats traffic report, which got 238 impressions and generated one request for a trial via admin messages. 

Imagine what'll happen when I promote it to our 150k+ email user base.

3/ Each subreddit is like a domain. The older it is, the better engagement it has and the more users, the more chances your threads will rank at the top of Google and be cited by AI chats. 

Our subreddit is already old enough, and I can turn it into a powerful SEO/AI asset in the next 90 days.

4/ I want to set it up as one more channel for all communication with customers:

- feature requests
- support requests
- product updates
- company news announcements
- agency owners problems discussions

We used Nolt for a long time to collect feature requests, but Reddit can add more value to it because other users can share their thoughts on any feature request.

Do you join corporate subreddits of the brands you use and love?

I asked Sitechecker customers, "What new feature would bring you the biggest impact in the next 3 months?". Here are 4 winners:

1/ AI visibility monitoring tool based on prompt tracking

Pretty obvious, yes :)? I understand that we won't build the best tool in this space because guys who work only on this stuff have more chances to do it.

However, if you merge our average prompt tracking with all non-average stuff we build around GSC / GA4 / content changes tracking / alerting, then the value you get looks different.

2/ GA4 user-friendly reports

This is what I voted for myself. I don't believe GA4 UX will be fixed, and Looker Studio has too many limitations, especially for agencies with 10+ websites.

3/ Google Business Profile reports

Local SEO is one of the few areas where AI overviews don't have such a huge impact, and GBP data has almost the same value for local websites as GSC or even more.

4/ Tool to create and schedule custom reports

We already have a lot of insights in the app, but you can't create a custom report from them. For example, I would like to build a report by specific page segments only: GA4 data, GSC data, rankings, etc. Now, I can't do that.

I have to make one product decision for Q1-2026 at Sitechecker that will quietly kill two good ideas. I’d value your honest take.

The biggest contradiction I have is between the three paths:

1/ Building a better Semrush alternative for SEO agencies

This is the most popular use case for us now. Founder or Head of SEO at the agency, who wants to cut costs and get better technical SEO & GSC/GA4 monitoring features, and is looking for a Semrush alternative.

The issue is that this person often still needs backlink analytics and complete keyword research.

2/ Improving what we already do well

We spent the entire 2025 on our GSC and GA4 insights, and customers love it, but it's not fully ready yet. I have a vision of how it should work, and this is where we can create a strong positioning. Once we finish it, I believe we can become irreplaceable for advanced SEO reporting. 

3/ Joining the race of AI visibility tracking tools

Yes, the entire LinkedIn is talking about non-accurate and non-reproducible prompt tracking, how small the share of AI chats in comparison to other traffic sources is, and so on, but hype and FOMO for budget owners is too strong. 

Building prompt tracking looks pretty simple, but in this area, things are constantly changing, there is fierce competition for innovation, and I understand that it will be difficult for us to compete in quality with mono tools like Peec AI, Promptwatch, and Profound.

Which path do you think is better?

Why do Favikon influencer listings have such spikes of traffic from AI chats?

I can't solve this puzzle. 

When I saw such spikes from Perplexity I had a hypothesis that this is because Perplexity has a feature like Google Discover. It distribute new content for users based on their interest even if they didn't look for it.

In this case, most of the traffic is from ChatGPT, and it doesn't have such a feature as Perplexity.

The only explanation I have is that Favikon rankings become so popular on LinkedIn that they creates demand inside ChatGPT when they are released.

What do you think on this? Have you noticed any interesting patterns reviewing page visits from AI chats on your customers' websites?

Your GA4 Looker Studio reporting breaks for one simple reason -> key events.

Every SEO agency has this problem:

1/ You build a clean Looker Studio template.
2/ You onboard a new client.
3/ And boom -> the report is useless.

Why? Because clients mark everything as a GA4 key event:

- sign_up
- pricing_visit
- purchase_click
- purchase

In this case, metrics "Key events" and "Sessions key event rate" aren't valuable at all. Someone bought a product/service, while someone else only created an account. These conversions aren't equal.

As a result, your templates are not reusable, and every new client = manual fixes, filters, hacks, and custom fields.

From now on, you can forget this nightmare, switching to https://sitechecker.pro

For each project, when you connect a GA4 property, you can choose which key events among all available should be applied to all GA4 reports.

At the end, you have a reliable source of truth for which landing pages work, and you spend much less time on setting up and managing reports.

Moreover, you have more than the GA4 report only:

- GSC insights you can't get in Looker
- advanced report by AI chats traffic
- AI overviews rank tracking
- complete landing page audit (GA4 / GSC / content changes / technical issues)
- and many more

Can small brands win in SEO without investments in brand awareness?

This is a big question I'm thinking on -> if paid campaigns on social media increase your CTR by non-branded searches in Google, do small brands have any chances to win if they spend $0 on demand generation and brand awareness paid campaigns?

1/ I didn't see data studies, but I assume it's true that brand awareness is one of the important factors that impact CTR in SERP. 

2/ All websites in the same niche end with targeting almost the same topics/keywords, creating similar content and user funnels (they adapt step by step, when they analyze who wins in the SERP.

3/ At the end, the biggest differences between brands lie in:

- budgets spent on brand awareness campaigns (paid ads, influencers, offline ads at conferences, etc.)
- budgets spent on link building and digital PR
- focusing the entire website on a narrow niche or going wider

I believe small brands still can win (because I saw it), but narrowing the niche is a must-have step they have to take.

How did we rank our Google AI overview checker landing page in the top 3?

I would be happy if there were some secret to this, but everything is simpler.

Years ago, we found that Google loves to rank our landing pages if they target the keywords with a word "checker".

Our domain name has this word. We also have a lot of landing pages we call Extra tools, that help to solve narrow issues related to technical SEO checks:

- h1 checker
- html size checker
- google index checker
- etc

So, it looks like Google detected some pattern in it. Somebody can call it topical authority, but I'm not sure that thing is only in this, because the word "checker" is too broad.

5 most popular use cases of merging GSC & GA4 data  

(prove me if I'm wrong)

Sitechecker customers ask us for a report to merge GSC & GA4, and we're building it now, but I found that this is too broad a topic. 

I'm curious what exactly people want to see there. Here is my list.

1/ Prioritise landing pages based on conversion data

Years ago, I built a unique Looker template for SEO forecasting. This became a hit and one of my most popular templates ever. 

The idea is that GSC metrics aren't enough to understand which page should be prioritised for improving or link building. 

Connecting conversion data from GA4, you can calculate how many additional conversions you could get if the page ranks in the top 1 for all keywords it already ranks for.

Moreover, this approach helps to calculate the approximate conversions the specific keyword can generate.

This is not an accurate approach, because I use the same CTR of the 1st position for all keywords and pages, which is not true. After the AI overview launch, this accuracy becomes even worse, but it's still valuable.

2/ Detect the impact of user behaviour changes on rankings

After many experiments, I see that the Bounce Rate and Avg. Session Duration from GA4 has a huge impact on the Average Position metric from GSC. 

If we show such metrics on one chart for a landing page or page segment, you can easily detect the impact of a new design, user funnel or updated messaging on your rankings.

3/ Identify the real user paths by internal links

GA4 has a parameter pageReferrer, and using it, you can build a map of how people go link by link on your website and detect which (often unexpected) pages impact on conversions.

It can help to understand whether your internal link structure works at all and how to improve it.

4/ Compare traffic from organic search and Gemini 

Gemini doesn't send as much traffic as ChatGPT (yet), but it can change this year fast. We see Gemini as a referrer in GA4, and can track it and compare it with metrics from GSC. 

The most important thing I want to see here is how the success in search correlates with success in Gemini and vice versa. The same with other AI chats.

5/ Detect the gaps

- which pages that receive traffic from other channels don't get traffic from organic search
- which noindexed pages receive traffic from organic search and AI chats
- which pages have backlinks that send real traffic to them
