I’m usually brought in after the raise, when the story hasn’t caught up with the reality. During expansion into new markets or product launches, when clarity starts to lag behind growth.

A music publishing breakdown I wrote reached 150,000+ people, with 2,000+ reactions, 130+ comments, and 290 reposts. The part that mattered wasn’t the reach. It was people inside major labels saying it helped them explain their own business more clearly.

This diagram explains why most artists feel underpaid. Look at it closely.

One song.
Split clean down the middle.

Not creatively.
Financially.

On the left:
The master
The sound recording.

On the right:
The composition
The song itself.

Same track.
Two separate assets.

Most artists only set up the left side.
That’s the mistake.

Streaming touches both sides, 
but was never designed to build either.

The real money shows up on the right half of the circle.

That’s where:
→ performance royalties live
→ mechanical royalties stack
→ sync deals clear or die

If you don’t own or register that side, the system can’t pay you. Not later. Not eventually. Not ever.

This is why the line at the bottom of the visual matters:

That’s where your money leaks.

The industry doesn’t guess who to pay.
It routes money based on registrations and metadata.

No registration

That’s why majors monetise average songs while independents under-earn on great ones.

They collect both halves of the circle.

you'll only be paid like it.
