Early in my career, I made the same mistake 
with every piece of feedback.

It's not that I disagreed with what they said.

I just wanted to explain myself.
Provide context.
Share the circumstances.

I didn't want them to think I was incapable.

But here's what they heard:

Excuses.

And over time, people stopped telling me the truth.

Here's what I wish I understood sooner:

When you stop listening, people stop sharing.

And that's when growth stops too.

How do you reflect on your year?

Do you do a deep dive, or do you prefer a quick pulse check? What tools do you use?...

This week, I’m carving out time to do my annual review using the framework from Anne-Laure Le Cunff, PhD.

I’ve long admired her work at Ness Labs and her book TINY EXPERIMENTS.

What resonates with me about her approach is how grounded it is in MINDFUL metacognition.

→ Instead of getting lost in spreadsheets or surface-level summaries, it creates space to SLOW DOWN and notice patterns in how we think, decide, and show up.


I come back to these four prompts every time:

↳ What went well? (Celebrating the small and big wins)

↳ What didn't go so well? (Looking at the friction points without judgment)

↳ What did I learn? (Turning those experiences into actionable wisdom)

↳ What am I looking forward to? (Setting intentions, not just rigid goals)


The framework also covers 9 DIMENSIONS of life, from work and business to health and fitness, which helps me step back and see the full picture rather than just one slice of it.

As someone who works in enterprise environments, I see the same principle apply in SALES AND LEADERSHIP.

Progress doesn’t come from rushing forward. It comes from pausing long enough to understand:

→ Where energy was well spent, where it wasn’t.

→ What needs to change before the next cycle begins.

For me, this time is about creating space to reflect deeply on 2025.

We don’t just manage time. We manage energy and headspace.
