Audacity is the word for the New Year.

One of my favourite conversations on fearlessness reminded me of something simple, yet powerful:

𝗜𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲.
𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗲𝘁 — 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲.

And there’s more.

Our audacity often becomes a light for others.

It creates a ripple effect we don’t always see.✨

As Nette Hargreaves  said — something that stayed with me — this is how people experience audacity:

But as Kim-Adele Randall shared in our conversation on Women In The Penthouse,
tomorrow isn’t promised.

What is available is today — this moment.

Self-love isn’t a luxury.
It’s not something we earn after doing more or being better.

Self-love is needed now.

𝗜 𝘀𝗮𝘄 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱.

On the Victoria line.
Same carriage.
Among nine million Londoners.


At first, I wasn’t sure it was him.

We first met in the first week of the year.
Benugo Café at Peter Jones.
He had just started working there.

Like many young creatives in London,
he looked tired.
Unhappy.

I asked him what his New Year’s resolution was.

He rolled his eyes.
“Maybe get out of here,” he said.
“By the end of the year.”

I asked what he wanted to do.
“Film. Movies.”
Then he stopped.
“This job gives me money. I need to pay rent.
I’m not ready yet.”

I told him something I learned when I left my life in China and came to London.


𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.


A week later, he was gone from the café.

Sometimes, during the year, I thought of him.
I hoped he had gone somewhere better.
Somewhere 
more alive.

Then I saw him again.
Same line. Eleven months later.

He wore a red coat.
He worked as a runner for a production company.
He looked alive.
Very alive.

We talked. We laughed.
For ten minutes on the train.


𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴.
𝗦𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

But it stayed with me.
Because lives do not change all at once.
But they do change when a person decides.

So I ask you this:
𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗱?
To change your life.
To become who you already know you are.


That is what Women In The Penthouse is about.
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀.
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀.
𝗥𝗮𝘄. 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰. 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴.

To me, this year the decision is clear.
I am taking Women In The Penthouse to the next level.
𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 —
𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀.

Most mood shifts don’t come from big breakthroughs.
