Since 2023, I have had the privilege of volunteering as a portrait photographer with BEAR Houston, an organization dedicated to supporting abused and neglected children.

BEAR is unique in its collaboration with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) and Harris County Resources for Children and Adults, offering programs that go beyond basic needs to provide comfort, dignity, and the celebration of successes for children who have recently been uprooted.

As part of a dedicated team of volunteer photographers, I had the honor of creating cherished family portraits for Army service members and their families during the holiday seasons of 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022. Our mission was to capture the joy and togetherness of these moments, providing families with lasting memories despite the challenges of military life.

The USO, since its inception in 1941, has stood as the nation’s leading organization supporting U.S. military members and their families. 

From the moment they join, through every assignment and deployment, and as they transition back to civilian life, the USO is steadfastly by their side. Being part of this tradition of service and support has been incredibly rewarding.

Our holiday portrait sessions at Ft. Hood were more than just photography gigs; they were opportunities to give back to those who sacrifice so much for our country. Each session involved setting up professional photography environments, coordinating with families, and ensuring every photo captured the warmth and bond of these extraordinary families. The smiles, laughter, and sometimes tears of joy we witnessed were testaments to the impact of our work.

Since 2012, I have been honored to have been ordained as a Reader in the Orthodox Church. 

One of my most rewarding projects was producing and directing the 15th Anniversary Video for our parish in 2008. This endeavor involved coordinating interviews, capturing significant moments, and weaving them into a compelling narrative that celebrated our community's history and spirit. They use visuals that instantly answer three questions:

• Who are you for?
• What problem do you solve?
• Why should I trust you?

When those answers are visible from ten feet away,
people stop walking.

That’s not design.
That’s positioning.

Your visuals are either helping the right people find you,
or quietly helping them walk past.

There’s no middle ground.

If you’re responsible for hiring a photographer, the risk isn’t the images.

The risk is everything attached to them.

Deadlines. Stakeholders. Internal expectations. Usage questions. “Did we get what we needed?” conversations that happen weeks or months later.

Most marketing, operations, and procurement teams aren’t actually buying creativity. They’re buying predictability.

• Will this run on time?

The best imagery follows rules that most businesses never even think about, like:
- How a product or person is positioned

- How your attention travels, frame by frame

These details don't shout, but they show. Premium images always have them. Generic ones don't.

Your audience might not be able to explain why your visuals look better. But they feel it right away.

Acceptable visuals tell people what you do. 
Exceptional visuals show how much your business cares.

That difference is the signal you send. And it matters.

This is one of those stories that sounds funny after the fact.

Years ago, I was asked to grab a shot from a helicopter. Last-minute decision.

Just me, an open door, and a very expensive camera.

At the time, you do what you’re trained to do. 

You focus. You manage the risk in front of you. 

You get the shot and bring everything back in one piece.

Looking back, that moment taught me something that still shapes how I work today.

It’s about recognizing risk early and designing systems so you don’t need heroics in the first place.

That’s why planning, constraints, and calm decision-making matter more than bravado.

I'm lucky I can build my work around life, not the other way around. Because no job should ever crowd out real life.

That's the perspective I needed this week.

Last week, I was running the live press-pool feed for the national media on behalf of Fox News.

This wasn't breaking news.
It was a planned cabinet-level press junket out in the middle of nowhere.

So the job was all logistics.

Government schedules.
Handlers moving the press pool from one spot to another.
Tight windows.
Constant repositioning.

And one thing was non-negotiable:

The signal back to New York had to be clean.
Images had to be spot-on.
Audio, rock solid.

All while staying mobile with a traveling pool of about 30 national press members, never missing a beat.

That's the part most people never see.

This work isn't about showing up with a camera.
It's about building systems that hold under pressure.

Most people think commercial photography is about making things look good.

They're wrong.

It's about making images that actually do something. 

That work for you after the event is long over.

Event coverage is about what happened.

The Backstory (Why I built this): My journey wasn't straight. 🎓 2013: At 19, I lost my father. That grief made me fearless. I promised to build something that mattered. 💼 The Struggle: over the next few years, I worked at 17 different companies. I was searching for a team I aligned with, but I never found it. The hiring system was broken—obsessed with keywords, devoid of human connection.

The Experiment: In 2019, I started my own agency (from a mud-walled, nature-filled office!). We worked with clients like Canva and IIT Roorkee. But I saw the same problem again: Resume Obsession & Misaligned Teams. Hiring is Broken. We are Fixing it. 

The Solution: I stopped complaining and started building. Coderfarm is no longer an idea. It is LIVE. 🟢

Is 900 views a failure or a warm-up? 📉

It is Day 6 of building Coderfarm in public. In the last week, we posted 5 videos. The total reach across all platforms? Around 900 views.

For a new creator, that is a lot. For a business, it looks small. But today, Abhilasha asked me the real question: "Views are fine, but do we have traffic on the portal?"

I showed her our Google Analytics. The graph is completely uneven.

And honestly? I am happy about it. Why? Because this is our Baseline. We have done ZERO marketing. No cold calls. No emails. No ads.

We are recording this silence today so that when we switch on the Sales Engine next week, we can measure the real impact.

We are not building for vanity metrics. We are building to prove that Skill > Network.

The hardest part of building a startup isn't the code—it's the trade-offs.

On Day 7 of building Coderfarm, I hit a wall. I fed my financial data into an AI agent to get clarity, but instead, I got anxiety. Seeing the numbers in black and white made me feel like I was moving incredibly slow.

Here is what derailed my day:
The "Perfect" Job Description: I saw a video explaining that candidates look for future growth, not just a task list. I couldn't stop myself from rewriting our JDs to reflect that, even though I had other priorities.

The Quality Trap: We upgraded our camera gear to improve production value. 

The result? Technical glitches forced us to re-shoot an entire day's video, doubling the workload.

I am constantly fighting the balance between Speed, Quantity, and Quality.

I built a product for users, but forgot the buyers. 📉

Day 4/365 of building Coderfarm.
I looked at my landing page today and realized I made a classic Founder mistake.

I built the page for the people I relate to most: Developers
.
But developers don’t pay me. Companies do. And Universities partner with us.

My landing page was a "mess (a mix) of information. It tried to talk to everyone, and as a result, it spoke to no one.
So today, I tore it down and rebuilt the architecture.

We now have three separate doors:
1️⃣ For Talent: Showcasing skills, not resumes.
2️⃣ For Founders: The hiring solution.
3️⃣ For Institutes: The placement partner.

I also rewrote the HTML semantics from scratch. Because if Google’s bots can’t understand the structure (SEO), a human client definitely won’t find us

The lesson? Clarity converts. Confusion kills.

I almost broke my streak today.

It’s Day 3 of documenting my journey building Coderfarm, and honestly, I was close to not recording. But I made a promise to show up every day.

Since I couldn't focus on traditional marketing today, I decided to do Engineering as Marketing.

The Problem: Candidates upload resumes, but they have no idea what the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) actually "sees." The Solution: I built a free ATS Parser tool.

Candidates can upload their PDF, see exactly how an ATS reads their data, and get a keyword gap analysis. It helps them, and it acts as a powerful lead magnet for us. Win-win.

Building a team is harder than building a product.

It's Day 8 of building Coderfarm. Today, I woke up in panic. I opened LinkedIn and saw I’ve been working on this for 7 years. I opened Instagram and saw 19-year-olds making crores.

Comparison is the thief of joy, and today it stole mine. 📉

I quit my job to find freedom. I thought freedom meant "No Boss". But today I learned the hard truth: Freedom is harder than a job. In a job, someone else takes the blame when things break. In freedom, when the server crashes (like it did today when I moved from Vercel to AWS), or when a user complains about a bug... there is no one else to blame but ME.

I am fixing bugs on code that was working yesterday. I am confused about the direction. But I realized one thing: I asked for this freedom. Now I have to own the responsibility that comes with it.

To all the founders fighting their own mind today: You are the General. The confusion is part of the job description.
