Before launching Adri AI, Shyam worked as a software engineer and a machine learning researcher in both academia and industry. He has a strong background in artificial neural networks, cloud computing, and web development. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from IIT Kharagpur, India, and a provisional patent in machine learning. We got a little too ambitious and a little too perfectionist over the last month and a half, and yeah, sleep and rest definitely took a hit. I honestly didn’t expect getting the SAP ADT API working properly to be this hard, it’s been one of those problems where every time you think you’ve cracked it, there’s another layer waiting.

The funny part is my team got ambitious too. Sahil Singh is basically shipping the entire Eclipse editor inside our app, running in the browser. Darshita Chaturvedi 🏔️ started building an agent that can use more than 600 ADT API features, and I literally had to stop her because it was getting out of hand.

TL;DR we’ve built what I genuinely believe is the best ADT API client in Rust. It supports all ABAP objects and has full debugging, quickfix, and ATC check support. The reason the agent release is taking a bit longer is because we shifted the goalpost ourselves, we don’t just want the agent to have these features, we now want to ship a big chunk of them in the UI too.

And if you’re thinking why are you shipping the whole editor inside your app and why not just build an Eclipse plugin, it’s because our customers have been super clear about what they want. They want something that can keep the agent running 24x7 without needing a human sitting at a desktop, which means this can’t be tied to a local IDE setup.

More on this later, for now I just wanted to post this as a small signal that I’m back on LinkedIn after a long hiatus.

ABAP Development in Browser - we are learning a lot while doing this. Hailing from non-ABAP background, it stumped me when I started using Eclipse ADT - I have never seen multi-page editor before.

Our ABAP Browser IDE and our Headless IDE support multi-page editor.

I’ve always worked while traveling to client sites.

And every single time, I have the same thought…

Why do I have to wait until I reach the office to start turning my ideas into code?

Some of my best ideas come to me on the way, in the cab, on the train, somewhere between two meetings.

For a long time now, I’ve had this vision that I finish building a complete T-Code while I’m on my way to the office.

By the time I arrive, the coding is done.

All that’s left is to grab a coffee and talk to the end users about how it solves their problem.

That’s the dream.

And lately, that dream has been turning into something more practical.

I’ve been building a way for developers to write ABAP directly from mobile and in the browser, without depending on their laptop or being tied to their desk.

So I recorded a small video about this “essential dream” of mine.

The video turned out… funnier than expected.

ChatGPT generated my image and added a new data field called CHUBBY_MODE = ‘X’. Clearly not part of the original functional specification.

Let’s just say the AI added a few extra kilos during deployment. 😄

Anyways, sharing it because sometimes the future of coding starts somewhere between traffic lights.
