Rise Against Hunger - Africa (RAH)

As the CEO of Rise Against Hunger, I have managed and overseen all operational aspects of our three South African branches. 

From Donor Engagement to Meal Packing Events, my expertise extends to all administrative duties, procurement, logistics and distribution, including M&E and impact assessments, and reporting to the Board. 

During my tenure, I have developed transferable skills and technical expertise, which have led to quantifiable results, such as:

🍴I expanded Operations into two new Provinces, created partnerships and distribution hubs in an additional 3 provinces, developed the strategic plans for the organisation's short, medium, and long-term goals, and generated annual budgets. 

🍴By moving the administration to cloud-based networking, we reached out to more beneficiaries and grew from 9,000 to over 60,000. Our administrative efficiency was improved by adding Cloud Networking which aided in increasing beneficiaries.

🍴By setting up collaborative partnerships with other NGOs, we could increase our impact, and by using practical reporting skills, we could pivot and change strategy when necessary. This means that we increased the impact of our business.

Alongside these skills, I've taken on other roles such as marketing, training and succession planning, and human resources. 

My passion for creating a better South Africa has driven me to strive for excellence in all that I do, and I am committed to continuing to positively impact the lives of those we serve.

National Operations Manager

Cradle Boutique Hotel

As Operations Manager of Le Sel at the Cradle, I was entrusted with overseeing the day-to-day management of our organisation, fulfilling a mission to make a difference in children's lives. 

My leadership, customer relationship management, and operations management skills allowed me to grow in this role and achieve remarkable results.

- Increased partnerships and reduced procurement costs through strategic networking and sourcing, resulting in an increase in the number of meals packed  to support our beneficiaries. This strategic planning helped to increase our delivery and impact. 

🍴Morale improved through team training and implementing new systems, resulting in happier staff and volunteers at packing events. Team building events and strategic systems development helped us become more effective.

🍴Increased transparency and accountability by carrying out impact assessments and reports, meant data analysis allowed us to improve the opportunities for donors to engage, which offered increased funding.

My leadership skills, customer relationship management, and operations management developed and allowed me to achieve significant results as Operations Manager at Le Sel at the Cradle.

Oppenheimer Conference and Banqueting Centre, Gold Reef City Theme Park

As the Owner/Manager of the Oppenheimer Conference & Banqueting Centre, I had the pleasure of overseeing a magnificent venue within the Gold Reef City Theme Park in Johannesburg. 

The Centre offered three conference venues suitable for any special occasion, including The Presidents Room, The Oppenheimer Gold Room, and The Oppenheimer Platinum Room. 

The venue offered great Year-End Events, Year End Venues, Team building functions, Safe Parking, and Excellent Service, all at a Prime Location.

During my time as Owner/Manager, I developed transferable skills and technical expertise, which have led to quantifiable results, such as:

My attention to detail and client relationship management skills ensured high client satisfaction rates, resulting in a growing number of returning clients each year.
As a leader, I developed strategic plans for the business, resulting in increased revenue and profit margins year on year.
Using my marketing skills and networking with other businesses and event planners, I successfully expanded our customer base and increased our brand awareness.
With these skills and expertise, along with a great team, I managed to grow the Oppenheimer Conference & Banqueting Centre into a premier events venue that offers exceptional service in a prime location.

Owner/Manager

As the CEO of Rise Against Hunger Africa, I am fortunate to spend my days doing something that genuinely makes an impact. Driving this is a passion for collaboration, sustainable development, and making a difference in the lives of the children we support.

Although I spent most of my career in hospitality, operating conferencing and banqueting centres, restaurants, and other related ventures, I always felt something was missing - something beyond serving memorable food, beverages and experiences for our guests.

I discovered and joined Rise Against Hunger Africa as the Gauteng Branch Manager, and as the organisation grew, I was appointed the National Operations Manager. I was later appointed interim CEO and took on the official role in February 2019.

Some of the lessons I've learned and accomplishments I've seen are:

In my first year as CEO, we broke records for the number of meals packed, distributed, and beneficiaries supported. 

When COVID-19 hit, we faced new challenges but navigated them gracefully and determinedly.
We work closely with partners, donors, and volunteers to ensure initiatives have the greatest possible impact. Our focus on collaboration sets us apart at Rise Against Hunger Africa (RAH). 

We've formed partnerships with big names in Southern Africa, but we also rely on the support of individual donors and volunteers who believe in our mission.

I've learned as CEO the importance of building a strong, cohesive team. But we can only achieve incredible things together by empowering people to take responsibility, encouraging personal growth, and creating a culture of inclusivity.

Being in this position is a privilege - but it's also a huge responsibility. We owe it to our donors, our staff, and most importantly, to the beneficiaries we serve to do our best. That's what drives me each and every day.
