Taking accountability shouldn't sound like an apology.
But sometimes we confuse the two.

A small sentence can make or break our start.

One prepares what to say.

When I failed at difficult conversations, it wasn't because I wasn't prepared. It was because I had prepared myself poorly.

I was focusing on what I thought I should say instead of trying to understand the other person. 

Here's the 5-minute pre-conversation ritual that works.

↳ Stop asking "What do I need to say?"
↳ Start asking "What does this person care about most?"

↳ Not just your goal, their goal too
👉 "If this goes well, what changes for them?"
