Saint Brendan’s Point Oyster Farm

In this role, I worked with the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, local farmers, and seafood restaurateurs to plan an oyster farm on 40 acres of leased land in accordance with Virginia maritime and agricultural law. Once we were ready to begin building, I worked with the property owner, Stephen O'Keefe, to write a grant proposal and win $40,000 from the United States Department of Agriculture. 

Using said $40,000, I hired and managed a small team to create a functioning oyster reef and farm in the Mobjack bay near Jamestown, Virginia.

In this role, I verified the accuracy and legitimacy of unemployment claims, verified claimant eligibility for state aid, and programmed benefits for citizens unemployed due to COVID-19.
