As a senior data engineer I am responsible for impact analysis, design, build, document, co-ordinate and implement data solutions for diverse requirements across business units. 
They can be for tactical business requirements or for enterprise wise strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Interact with the business stakeholders to understand the data requests and perform impact analysis. 
2. Design the data solution: This includes documentation on interface changes, technical design , data modelling, data mapping amongst others.
3. Build the data pipelines using frameworks designed to perform ingestion, transformation and extraction of data as per needs.
4. Maintain the code repository, perform unit testing, support system integration, user acceptance as well as business readiness testing.
5. Create production deployment artefacts such as implementation plan, operational support manual amongst others.
6. Migrate the code from development environment to pre production and production using CICD processes with the assistance of DevOps team.

Key Achievements:

Regulatory requirements/directives:

These were from ACCC (Australian Competition & Consumer Commission) and ACMA(Australian Communications and Media Authority).
The accuracy and completeness of the data we produced was paramount for this work.
1. Challenges were time, historical data spread across platforms/systems, internal and external legal teams to be in sync with data teams, etc. 
2. New ways of working had to be established to increase the agility and effectiveness.
3. An external independent audit was performed on the whole program and found it accurate to the needs. 

Migration to Cloud Platform:
1. I was involved in the pre-work helping the program and business teams have a view of the data objects involved for their respective teams.
2. I was also hands on in delivering a couple of key data areas involving all reference tables and prepaid stream.

Senior Data Engineer

Wipro

The duties/responsibilities of the role at Wipro Technologies Ltd (Optus as a client) primarily include:

1. As a data engineer, my role was similar to the roles mentioned above for Optus.
The difference being the use of waterfall method instead of Agile methodologies.
2. As a technical lead, I was also responsible for providing technical guidance, work allocation, peer review of design documents created by the team, and represented Wipro at status meetings with the client (Optus).

Achievements:

1. Designed and built a statistical area (SA2, SA3 )model using government-provided addresses for the sales and marketing teams to understand where the customer are geographically.
Made changes to link the customer base data to SA3 and update all visualization dashboard to show this information.
2. Built a custom single solution (instead of 2 separate solutions) to cater to two business teams looking at mostly similar data but wanted different outcomes for their reports.
This solution was capable of providing both commercial grade numbers as well as analytical reporting needs that the teams were seeking.

Technical Lead

The duties/responsibilities of the role at Wipro Technologies Ltd (Optus as a client) primarily include:

1. Interact with the onshore team to understand new business data requirements in the integrated data warehouse space of Singtel Optus.
2. Do an end-to-end impact analysis of the requirements and translate those requirements into interface contracts, detailed solution designs along with associated data mappings.
3. Build data solution which included using Teradata tools and utilities, Unix shell scripts to modify existing business logic or add new functionality to the data warehouse.
4. Support system integration ,user acceptance testing and migration of code from development to pre production and production via packages.

Key achievement:
Reverse engineered a HUD (Handset Usage Data) data mart on Teradata from the code in Abinitio. This was used by Optus for LELU (Law Enforcement Liaison Unit) for tracking and blocking stolen handsets.

Capgemini

The duties/responsibilities of the role at Capgemini India Pvt Ltd primarily include:

1.	Interact with the client team as a subject matter expert of the category management application to understand new business data requirements.
2.	Do an end-to-end impact analysis of the requirements and translate those requirements into an Application overview document along with associated data mapping.
3.	Create Teradata fastload, multiload, bteq, and Unix shell scripts to modify existing business logic or add new functionality to the application.
4.	Maintain quality artefacts of each application enhancement delivered.
5.	Support the data ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading) processes and ensuring the client SLAs are not breached.
6.	Fixing the failures in the scheduled data load processes and documenting the same for future reference. 
7.	Build reports to help users understand the status of any data given point in time without tedious manual checks.
8.	Implementing the LEAN methodology in the team to optimize effort spent by resources.
