A hero’s welcome 👏 At the Ashes Test in Sydney, the crowd gave Ahmed al Ahmed a prolonged round of applause and a standing ovation.

Ahmed has been recognised as a hero after disarming one of the gunmen during the horrendous Bondi Beach attack last month, an act that helped save countless lives.

Sport at its best does this. It pauses the noise and uses its platform to focus on something bigger than the game itself.

It’s hard to imagine how anyone finds the bravery to act like that. Ahmed did - and that deserves real respect 🧡
