Most professionals are distracted by things that don’t even matter.

The job market is noisy. 
And many smart people fall 
into the trap of chasing:

🔹 Fancy job titles
🔹 Endless certifications
🔹 Generic “how to get hired” advice

Meanwhile, what actually matters is ignored:

✔️ Your positioning
✔️ Your brand
✔️ Your strategy
✔️ Your skillset
✔️ Who you know and who knows you

I say this because I’ve been there.

When I shifted my focus to what
truly mattered, everything changed for me.

Check yourself today, 
are you chasing things that 
will really move you forward?

What is the worst that could happen?

Many times when I am 
presented with opportunities

And what feels right to me is not 
what makes sense to everyone else,

I find that I am tempted to listen 
to everyone else but myself.

When I am in this headspace, 
faced with the choice of betting 
on myself versus going with the 
bandwagon, 
I ask myself this question:

✔️ What is the worst that could happen?

 I list out:
⏺ all the possible outcomes of my choice
⏺ the impact/implication of each outcome
⏺ if, how and what I might be able 
to do to cushion the effect. 

I call it the worst case scenario analysis (WCSA).

🔹It helps remove the mental block 
🔹And creates an emotional reserve 
for any of the outcomes including 
those I did not foresee. 

It puts me in a mindset to be ready 
to adapt as needed. 

So far, it has worked for me.

The purpose of this worst-case 
scenario analysis for me is not to 
determine whether or not I should proceed.

But 
⭕ When and how I should proceed.
⭕ How much damage a possible fail might be, 
⭕ How much emotional reserve and 
maybe material armour I need, 
to cushion the effect.

Because over the years, I have seen the pattern:
Betting on myself always paid off. 

Even when it seemed like a fail, 
there was always an upside.
 
So whenever I'm at the WCSA phase, 
it means I'm going to do it. 

If you are ever in doubt whether 
to bet on yourself or not.
And you like to work with data 
and logic more than emotions.

📌 Try the WCSA.

From experience, I would always 
choose to bet on yourself.

Project management is not hard because of the work.

It’s hard because of the weight you carry in your head.

No one prepares you for this part of the job.

The part where you’re thinking about risks before they happen.
Replaying meetings you already left.
Carrying decisions that don’t belong to you alone.
And still being expected to “just manage the project.”

Most people see timelines and status updates.
They don’t see the mental load.
The quiet calculations.
The “what if this fails?”
The pressure to make things work even when clarity is missing.

I’ve learned that what makes project management heavy isn’t the tasks.
It’s the responsibility of holding things together when everyone else is focused on their own lane.

 If you feel mentally tired as a PM, you are not alone.
 It’s important you create boundaries so you won’t burn you out.

 Here’s what helped me:

Project Management Isn’t as Glamorous as It Looks

No one really talks about the quiet side of project management.
The late nights when the laptop is closed but your mind isn’t.
The constant thinking about risks, people, and “what ifs.”
The weight of knowing one small miss can affect an entire team.
On the outside, it looks clean, timelines, tools, updates.
Behind the scenes, it’s worry, responsibility, and mental load.
If you’ve ever gone to bed tired but still couldn’t sleep,
that doesn’t mean you’re bad at your job.
It means you care.
But caring doesn’t mean carrying everything alone.

Here’s how I balance the invisible weight of the role:

1. Get it out of your head
 Write down risks, concerns, and open questions.
 A documented worry becomes a solvable problem.

2. Decide what belongs to tomorrow
 If it can’t be acted on tonight, let it wait.
 Not everything needs a midnight solution.

3. Create a shutdown signal
 Close the laptop. Review tomorrow’s priority. Walk away.
 Teach your brain when work is done.

4. Remember your role
 You coordinate and guide, you don’t control everything.
 Releasing that pressure protects your peace.

Project management isn’t glamorous.
But it can be sustainable.
The best PMs aren’t the ones who carry the most —
 they’re the ones who know when to put things down.

A few nights ago, I was packing my lunch for work.
I grabbed a lid.
It looked right.
But it wouldn’t close the lunch box.
Frustrated, I looked again and found another lid that looked exactly the same.
This one closed perfectly.

When I compared them closely, I realized something simple but powerful:
They looked identical, but they weren’t created for the same purpose.

That’s how we treat leadership in project management.

Same title.
Same tools.
Same meetings.
But different people, yet we pressure ourselves to lead exactly like the PM next to us.

Being inspired is healthy.
Copying is limiting.

Here’s what happens when you try to lead like someone else:

1. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟
 You unconsciously cap your growth by operating in someone else’s shadow.

2. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬
 Because you’re using a style that was never designed for you.

3. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫
 Your unique way of leading teams and navigating chaos stays undiscovered.

Every framework we admire today started as someone’s imperfect idea.
Your job isn’t to fit a mold.
It’s to discover your own leadership style, and grow it.
